32oz growler from Beverage World. Served at around 40F.
Pours clear gold with a good white head that leaves nice webs of lacing and holds a light cap. Was hoping for more haze in an unfiltered lager.
Aroma is lemon citrus, floral hops, noble hops, light biscuit/cracker malt, a little grainy and herbal. Very good strength. Nice aroma for the style, good hop presence.
Flavor is more lemon citrus, crisp noble hops, grassy, herbal, some grain, light bready/cracker malt, moderate sweetness in the middle, good bitterness for the style on the finish. Minimal alcohol.
Mouthfeel is light/medium bodied, a bit oily, good carbonation.
Super-tasty lager. 100 degrees today and this is hitting the spot! Great aroma, tons of flavor and a hint more of a kick than standard in this style. Will definitely be getting another fill of this one while it’s around.

Served on tap at Taco Mac 7/18/12. Reviewed from notes.
(Appearance) Color is a very pale yellow with mild haze. Head is white and retains average, settling to a thin white film. Overall a nice appearance. 4
(Smell) A mild pale malt with a pleasing syrupy citrus aroma to pair. Hops are less prevalent and not very bitter. Yeasty Belgian-like candi sugars here and there. Enjoyable aroma, although certainly different from what one may expect for a pilsner. 3.5
(Taste) Flavor is pale malt with a syrupy citrus marmalade, honey and mild citrus hop finish. A bit syrupy sweet and a bigger body than expected. Mild alcohol on the end. Interesting. 3.5
(Mouthfeel) Texture is medium-thick with a syrupy feel. Body is light-medium. Alcohol presence is mild. Decent pairing for flavor but a little deep for the general Drinkability of a pilsner. I could only have one of these before my palate is shot. 3
(Overall) An interesting pilsner, a bit heavy on the malt side, with plenty of syrupy goodness but not so much participation from the hops or the rest of the brew. It has a bigger body of flavor which makes Drinkability a bit lower than the average pilsner. It was a nice drink for me but I probably wouldn't order it again. 3

32 ounce growler pour from Bay Shore, LI Beverage
Pour is near clear lighter straw. Off white head, minor in size and interest. Leaves just a thin film and some fine lacing.
Minimal wheat malty nose with faint hops in the rear.
Tasty brew with clean malt up from and crisping hops in the rear. Crisp, flavorful and well balanced, with a nice zesty and dry finish. Fine beer to accompany a summers lunch of BBQ chicken, salads and cheese. Well done here by Bklyn brewing

Served on-tap at the Ginger Main in SoNo.
Appearance is medium yellow with two fingers of white head. It has a nose with biscuit, hops, grass and yeast. Sipping on this and I taste lemon, malt, bread, some more of the hops. Mouthfeel is light-medium, a crisp finish. This is a tasty beer, and works well to drink on a warm summer day. Another solid beer out of the crew from Brooklyn Brewery.

Straight pour from 750ml swingtop growler to a small Ommegang flute. Purchased earlier today—thanks Syracuse Real Food Co-op!
Appearance (3.0): Tell you what, this pours like the perfect AAL: crystal-clear, pale, pale gold body (like dandelion-yellow) with a great-looking chunky white head that dies slowly with fat bubbles, leaving just a few splotches of lace. Not bad, but I’m not sure where all the cloudiness is for the style.
Smell (4.5): Very bright, just very very bright: lemons and fresh-cut grass, extremely aromatic but floral and delicate, too. May sound weird, but it smells like the grass after a good rain. There’s a very light, pale grain scent in there too, mixing with a warm, starchy yeast scent on the back-end. This smells great, really really great.
Taste (4.5): Follows the nose, but more complex in the malt / yeast combination. The hops really pop in this beer, seriouosly shining—lemony and mildly fruity, along the lines of melon and pear, but turning into a bright, extremely grassy, slightly herbal bitterness. That grassiness hangs on through and extremely long finish that never quite goes away. Meanwhile, the malt body is pale and light, just like liquid Stoned Wheat Thins. But, it blends well with an extremely earthy yeast character and helps a light, tart wheat note come through. Goddamn, this is balanced.
Mouthfeel (4.5): Extremely dry in the finish, light on the palate and effervescent without any coarseness. Brooklyn really nails the mouthfeel with a lot of these limited beers, the big bottles and Brewermaster’s Reserve beers, and this is no exception. Just wish there was more head left. Still, unbelievably, dangerously drinkable.
Overall (4.0): This is an exceptional beer, really excellent. What really strikes me is just how delicate the malt body feels, and how pronounced and bright the hop profile is, without overpowering anything. It maintains a crackery, earthy body while shining in every other way. This is a great beer, and just absurdly dialed-in with a lot of nuance and finesse.

On tap at St. Augustines in Vancouver.
A: Slight white head over straw colored liquid with excellent clarity
S: Very muted, only the faint smell of yeast.
T: Floral, earthy, grassy and leafy hop flavors with biscuity and breast malt.
M: Medium viscosity and carbonation
O: I honestly have no ideas if this is the gold standard because the German beers that make it to Canada are almost always well past their best before date
