Cork pops up with the slightest touch. stamped: 1880. I know this isn't the year, but unsure what it correlates to.
A- Pours a dark caramel with a big foamy head that is super active. I can hear it crack and pop as the head slowly resides to a 1/4" of off-white layer. Some good lacing.
S- I can smell this beer from 2 ft. away, powerful and great smell. Figs, pears, thyme, light spice, some tang and hay from the yeast.
T- Dark fruit with hints of spice. The taste is similar to the smell but the flavors are in different measure. Highlighted flavors are figs, yeast, hay, and the zesty tang. Solid.
M- Medium body. Wet that slowly dries. lingers well. very pleasing.
D- Slight alc is detected by the warming feel. Split a 750mL and wanted more. Very easy to drink.

750ml corked bottle into a tulip glass. No bottling date apparent.
Pours a dark brown color with a massive white head. Smell is quite mild. Detecting dark fruits and some belgian yeasts, but again, its not too strong. The taste is quite flavorful. Very fruity and fizzy at first, with a strong taste of red grapes on the back end. Yeasty. Almost tart in fact. No alcohol apparent. Medium bodied with high carbonation. Easy drinking, sort of like drinking a grape soda.
Overall an enjoyable beer that I'm glad to have tried. Nothing world class here, but its nonetheless a solid Belgian style ale. Would have another.

750 ml into a pint
A - Pours a deep amber to brown color. Mostly opaque with just a few highlights. Head formation is off white, somewhat dirty.
S - Super fruity nose, reminds me of grapes and currants. Perhaps even a few cherries.
T - Starts off smooth and sweet, a little bit of a fruit. Then it starts to turn almost wine like, with some dark grape flavors. Mid-stream I get some darker fruits, and then it finishes with some alcohol warmth.
M - Very carbonated and a moderate to heavy body. A fairly thick offering. Clearly loaded with unfermentables. Alcohol warmth is present but not too strong.
O/D - A well done but certainly very heavy belgian. I think the fruitiness is just a little too much, and we don't see any other flavors coming in to mellow it out. Certainly short of a lambic but its going that direction.
