Thought I'd try this Summer Ale because I've enjoyed other beers from this brewery. This one didn't grab me that much.
My first reaction on tasting it was dissapointment that it didn't have more of a unique flavor. This strikes me as a beer you can serve to folks that aren't used to a strong tasting beer and it'll be wel-liked.
There's not a lot of smell to this ale. It pours with a small head. It isn't overly carbonated. It has a grassy and citrus taste with just a bit of malt. Not unpleasant at all and certainly quafable on a hot day but I won't be seeking it out.

12 oz bottle into ASHRAE pint glass. Beer hour Friday before Memorial Day. "Best Before September 2013"
A - yellow, slightly golden, clear (not cloudy). Head seems CO2 induced, fades quickly.
S - vaguely sweet alcohol smell. A little milky perhaps
T - crisp, light, generic. Not a lot of strong flavor here. A little hint of sour maybe.
M - crisp, light, watery
O - nothing terrible, just tastes like a slightly improved version of a generic macro. Not enough malt backbone to hit the style. Goes down easy, but doesn't satisfy.

Appearance: Poured out of the can into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass. Pretty plain looking overall, golden color with some accents of orange. Light head on the pour which retained on the edge of the glass while drinking. Low carbonation
Smell: The malt in this beer comes off as a metallic/brassy aroma on the front. Some banana and leafy greens are on the undertones. Some yeasty accents with a very light hop presence finishes the aroma off.
Taste: Again the malt front is a little brassy. A lot of mango and banana. Some chewy barley is felt toward the front of the beer. The back end is a pleasant bready biscuit finish which sits on the palette nicely.
Mouthfeel: Light but has some punch to it. Has very much the feel of a summer ale.
Overall: Not a bad brew, but there are other summer drinkers I would go with before this one. If you are a fan of malt and barley in your easy drinkers you would enjoy this one. A little hard to get past the metallic accents though.

The Brooklyn Brewery beers have just recently made there way into my local groceries so I took a leap of faith and picked up a 6 pack of Summer Ale as I tend to prefer the summer less dark brews in the summer time due to the heat and less filling nature
Drank out of a bottle can definitely smell the hops and bitters right off the bat but it is not too harsh
The taste is initially hoppy but with a very smooth after taste can taste the hops and bread notes a maybe a hint of citrus in there ? Even had my wife taste it to confirm as she drinks a lot of fruity brews and she even noticed it.
I actually really enjoyed this beer and am looking forward to the rest of the 6 pack and the other beers from the Brooklyn Brewery
