Brooklyn Monster Ale pours a beautiful, clear copper color with a few steady streams of bubbles flowing up from the bottom. On top is a small, fizzy off white head the quickly dissolves to a ring around the beer, leaving behind only a couple of spots of lace on the glass.

The aroma is faint with notes of caramel malt, dark fruit and a bit of alcohol.

Each sip of this full bodied beer has a firm carbonated fizz on the middle of the tongue. The flavor is a decent balance of sweet caramel malt, ripe fruit (raisin, cherry) and bitter floral hops. The hops aren't as overpowering like other barleywines. It finishes with a touch of oak and alcohol. Once gone the alcohol, caramel sweetness and hop bitterness lingers on the palate.

The well balanced flavor makes this beer rather drinkable. Also, the nearly 12% abv is well hidden. The beer is 'hot' but definitely warms you up inside.
