I recently have become intrigued with the infamous Natty Boh. After reading up on it's cult status in Maryland I decided I had to try it at least once. Or maybe I was just hypnotized by the Cycolps Pringles guy on the bottle. Whatever it was, I just had to have some, and thanks to lackenhauser, my wishes were granted...
A: Well it looks just how I thought it would, carbonated piss... though a bit more color then most macro's. Head was there for a second, then POOF! it's gone. A very miniscule amount of lacing.
S: I'm a bit surprised, this actually had a definitive smell... and it smelled kind of good! Very grainy and sweet.
T: Again, I'm surprised. I was expecting this to taste like every other macro in the world, but it actually has quite a bit of flavor. It dosn't have a whole lot of hops or anything like that, but it dosn't taste like water. My only complaint is the aftertaste which reminded me of nutrasweet. Though it's not the best tasting beer I've ever had, it's actually pretty good for what it is.
M: Nothing special, but not bad. Light and lots of carbonation.
D: Let's just say this. If this was available in my area, and I was in high school again... this would be my beer of choice. I'd much rather be drinking this as apposed to Mickey's or Beast. In fact, I could see myself drinking this now on occasion. Not bad.

If you have lived or even been to Baltimore in the last few decades you have heard of Natty Boh. Unfortunately it is not made here any more, but the tradition and pride of this beer lives on. No matter who you ask in Maryland, they will tell you that Boh is a go to choice for good times when wallets are tight or not.Cheap has nothing to do with the love for this beer, (although it helps), it is the tradition. Long live Natty Boh and the memories it has made!
This is Baltimore baby! Crabs and Boh, it doesn't get much better.

A-poured into a frozen pilsner glass-its straw yellow, a few shades darker than water with a fizzy white head that dissipates immediately
S-typical generic "beer" nose, kind of musty and malty
T-It is slightly sweet from the malt with a nice crisp finish, with just a hint of hops. It doesn't have that thick huskiness to it like PBR which causes it to have less taste but it seems more crisp and clean, which I enjoyed. For an AAL I thought this tasted good and was very refreshing.
M-Thin and watery but it has a nice carbonated crispness to it.
D-I could drink this all day, its crisp and clean and for the style its pretty good.
Overall, this is one of my favorite versions of the style, which is why I gave it a 4 in the overall category even though my ratings would suggest otherwise. Its not as good as Schlitz Gusto, but to me it is more enjoyable than most of the others in the category. Its also cheap, which is nice.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a 14 oz "pint" glass. Pours a straw yellow with a one finger head that dissipates quickly. Smells of sweet grain that is it. Tastes of water, grain, and maybe a little corn. Beer is carbonated correctly and is very drinkable for its light body. Overall, a slightly below average beer, but not a bad adjunct lager.

If you've ever been to Baltimore in the past 10 years, you've seen "Natty Boh" out at the bars. It is a seventies style American beer. It is made to be cheap. People only drink it in the city because of it's price and nostalgia. Everyone's parents in Baltimore ate steamed crabs and swigged down the old bay with some Natty Boh. And so the tradition continues.

This is not a good beer, it's somewhere in the mysterious realm between Yuengling Lager and Pabst Blue Ribbon. This gets a 4 because it is literally the cheapest beer I can buy in Richmond, VA. This beer recently came to Virginia, and it is the cheapest beer available if you don't count malt liquor. It tastes cheap, smells cheap, and feels cheap; but, it is very drinkable and has a slightly higher than average ABV.
Buy some Natty Boh, it's Baltimore in a can.

a light yellow pour, clean with a finger of slowly dissipating bright white head. smells of pilsner malt, bready yeast, cereal. the taste is pretty light for an adjunct lager.. quite refreshing, bready flavor.. not much there.. not as sweet as most of the other watered down american piss lagers, but one of the better ones. light body, high carbonation, very refreshing.
one of the better shitty beers. on par with pbr, though not much of a surprise since they're made by the same brewer.

A DC favorite!
The beer is very clear and has is slightly straw colored. This beer looks like water more than any other I've had. The white foam head settles down quickly. Aroma is standard for the style; sweet malt and rice and not a hop to be found. Big corn flavors abound when I taste it. Light body and not too much carbonation. Surprisingly, there is little coating. What's there is sweet but not all that sticky. All in all, this is just another adjunct lager. It may have some local pride, the way Naragansett does here in New England, but outside of slumming it while drinking in DC there isn't much reason to seek this beer out.
