The beer I'm reviewing here is under the tag of "Waitrose German Pils, 5%abv.", which I bought from the Waitrose supermarket recently. Coming in a 500ml green glass bottle, BB 31/10/2013, served chilled in a pint size weizen glass.
A: coming in a light straw-yellow colour, moderate carbonation, and a slowly retreating white fluffy head.
S: light sweetness of grainy malts balanced by sour-dough-like sourness, a swirl brings out very fine floral hoppiness. Altogether, true to the style and rather pleasant.
T: very light grainy malts with a touch of saltiness come first, very light in flavour indeed; the hops contribute a fine, dry aftertaste but no explicit hop flavour, while a tinge of maltiness does linger in the end.
M&D: light bodied, moderately fizzy, mediocre drinkability overall, as the lack of dryness in palate makes this pilsener much less palatable than many of its counterparts.

Golden with a slightly more orange tinge than straw yellow, looks carbonated. Little to no head, leaving a small off white foam.
Smells of malt, some wet dog, hops, like a typical AA Lager.
Tastes of richer malt than I expected from the nose. Thick and malty. Metallic at the end even though I drunk this from a bottle. A bit of yeast. Surprisingly good. Hops background at end.
Heavy carbonation, light body.
Overall a really good pilsener. Does not seem to be widely distributed, so I am glad to have got my hands on a bottle in Thailand. Would go well with German food, as a refresher on a hot day, salty and pub food, anything a good normal ‘beer’ would go with.

500ml bottle poured into a pils glass by freshness date.
A:
The color is golden yellow with grandiose pillowy white head. The head is velvety and dense with very well retention and leaves plenty of nice lacing patches all around the downwards passage. High carbonation produces lots of small bubbles running swift towards the top.
S:
Blending with sweet barley malt, corn cereal with hint of floral hop and some spice.
T:
Up front by sweet malt thereafter grain, note of hard water and moderate hop bitterness come into touch.
M:
The body is medium with crispy mouthfeel and a bit coarse on palate.
D:
Well. There is nothing remarkable here but just fine and easy drinkable without doubt.
