.4 L serving of this unfiltered and unpasteurized beer at the mini-brewery.
A - black and opaque with a tan head
Aroma: pleasant sweet malt aroma; no burnt tones but a slightly smoky note.
T - mild dark malts; slightest hint of coffee and smoke in a surprisingly long lasting finish.
M - smooth but tingly, due to medium carbonation
O - a very good Czech dark lager that was excellent with a rabbit and dumpling dinner.

On-tap at Pivovarský Dům, Prague, Czech Republic
A: It's very dark amber (near black) in color and poured with a two finger high beige head that faded away very slowly.
S: There are notes of coffee and roasted malts in the nose.
T: The overall taste has flavors of dark malts with notes of coffee and hints of caramel. There is a little sweetness but this is balanced out by a mild amount of bitterness from the hops.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a light amount of carbonation.
D: The beer is very easy to drink and quite sessionable.

on-tap at the brewpub
coaster notes
appearance: served in a branded mug, medium mahogany, light tan head
smell: light roast, woody, dry chocolate
taste; i seemed to drink more dark lagers than light on my recent trip to Praha - probably because my travel partner was drinking light lagers and i wanted to try as much brew as possible. none of them were overly exciting but all were strong. The Pivovarsky Dum version lined up against the rest - solid malt body, lightly roasty, hints of chocolate and wood
mouthfeel: smooth, medium body, creamy finish
drinkability: good

just back from prague with some updates/additions for this brewery. typed up from hand written note taken at the microbrewery.
A = Very dark, almost black, hint of cherry red at the edges, half a finger of head settles quickly
S = Malt, yeast, hint of citrus from the hops and some roasted coffee and chocolate
T = Coffee, roasted malt, chocolate (at the beginning), hint of bitterness at the end with a little oak wood flavor throughout. Low level of hops at the beginning shine through in the second half. If you let it warm for a few minutes, then almonds come out as well.
M = Medium carbonation, light body, smooth and wet, velvety mouthfeel
D = Incredibly drinkable - great balance of flavors, great mouthfeel, not too overpowering or filling
One of my favorite beers in Prague, loses only to U Fleku in terms of best dark lager in my mind.

Tried at the brewery in Prague.
Dark mahogany-black body with a pancake bubbled crema head. Excellent retention and lacing. This is a bold, robust looking beer.
Sweet roasted coffee nose with hints of dark chocolate and brandy on the nose. Overall the heavily sugared coffee wins out though. Not bad.
Decent coffee roasted flavour, still rather sweet with a chocolatey backbone to it. Not so much toffee sweetness, which would make it sublime, but very pleasant all the same.
Mouthfeel a little limp, could use some smoothness.
Very drinkable dark lager, quite pleasant.

This is my beer of choice at Pivovarsky Dum. A half liter costs the same as a third of the more unique brews, and this thing is just damn good.
Appearance is a very deep color, pretty much black when you're looking at it. A nice sizeable brown head accompanies the beer as well. Smells strongly of coffee. My friend had ordered the coffee beer and when I smelled mine i thought they had mixed them up - until i smelled the coffee beer. A lot of other malt in the nose too, quite nice. The taste is thoroughly enjoyable. A lot of roasted malt flavors going around, and a thoroughly clean and crisp taste. the mouthfeel was also nice. not incredibly noteworthy, but it played well with the beer. In all, this stuff is thoroughly drinkable. I could have one after another all night.
I also want to say about my taste rating for this one that I was really divided between a 4 and 4.5 as I think this was tied for my second favorite beer I had from a brewery in Prague. So I wanted to give the favorite a 4.5, so I gave this a 4.

It pours a dark brown with some light around the edges and an okay head. I took one whiff of this and thought they brought me the coffee beer instead. I later found out that the coffee beer is much stronger in aroma. The aroma has a good amount of roasted character and some toffee. The taste is good just a little off style. Roasted malt and caramel in the medium, smooth body. I had a hard time deciding if this was supposed to be a dunkel or a schwarze, but decided that it definitely was much closer to a dunkel.
