This is the regular porter the brew year round with the addition of spice for a fall seasonal. Deep dark brown in the glass, nearly black, a thin, loosely foamy, wet sandy brown edging at the top; minimal lace sticks in thick strings.
Aroma is faint of some milk chocolate laced with a small roasty aspect. As it warms a bit of coffee and burntness makes an appearance, but very light.
Taste is welcome and smooth with a nice slender chocolatey tone and a bit of roastyness mixed within. The ginger barely makes a presense in the finish but does add a nice yet brief stay among the finish which in itself is favorable with some darker chocolate tones and roast fading off.
Feel is just shy of a medium body, quite smooth and quick, creamy and slim on the carbonation with a chocolatey drying finish thats milky smooth and fades nicely without much bitter chocolate that you may find in other porters. This was more of a milky smooth thing in its character. Not bad at all, this could be better, and I'm being a little generous here too, but it could've been alot worse as well. Too bad it was Sunday otherwise this may have come home in a growler.
