Appearance: Gave this a really vigorous pour which resulted in a very thin light tan head. This is one of the blackest, most opaque beers under 6% ABV that I've ever seen.
Aroma: Lots of chocolate and coffee and all around maltiness. Pleasant and not overbearing.
Taste: Sort of a light Sweet/Milk Stout flavor at first but then the coffee dominates your palate. Really rich taste of bitter black coffee in the finish. At 5.6% ABV, it is a little light on flavor in the middle but the aftertaste is bigger than most Imperial Stouts. That coffee bitterness only gets more intense over time. An interesting experience but not quite unique.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. I'd say average drinkability because the bitter coffee can become cloying. Surprisingly there was an average amount of carbonation even with the vigorous pour that produced no head.
Final Thoughts: Be ready for a lot of coffee flavor and just enough malt to back it up. It's a little one-dimentional, but that seems to be true of most American Stouts. Would I drink it again? Probably not, there are too many other stouts I have yet to try before cycling back to this one.

A - Pours with two fingers of tan foam on top of a black body with clear, ruby highlights. The head settles at a moderate pace and leaves decent lace.
S - Nutty coffee, a bit of chocolate, and some toffee malt.
T - Dark bread up front with some dry caramel and coffee in the middle. Finishes with nutty notes and smoky coffee character as well as moderate, lingering coffee bitterness.
M - Medium-thick body, average carbonation, and a dry finish.
D - Not bad, it is a very drinkable stout. The coffee character is pleasant, especially in the aroma, though it is a bit on the generic side. Overall, a mild, drinkable if unremarkable coffee beer.

Pours dark black with garnet highlights. Settles to a ring of coffee colored foam.
Smells of fresh morning coffee, light, Hawaiian roast and toasted dark malts. nice.
Taste is mild roasted coffee and medium roasted malt. No residual sweetness.
Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy but on the watery side. Light carbonation.
This was a decent stout but not quite what I expected. Somewhat watery but great aroma. There are much better values out there. A disappointment from Green Bay brewery compared to their IPA and Saison.

Luna is a great, bitter coffee stout that pours out a deep brown. Aroma and taste are both coffee, coffee, coffee. Hinterland is new to my area, and I know freshness matters on a coffee stout, and this is one of the better ones I've had. It's seriously got an amazing fresh coffee taste, with a touch of hops on the finish. Highly recommended.
