Availability: Spring. bottle (105), on-tap (28), growler (3)

Notes:
An unfiltered American wheat ale made with real mean peaches. The only thing missing is the fuzz. Savor the anger. Available during the late Spring and Summer months.

12oz brown bottle. No freshness date. Pint glass pour.

Appearance: Murky orange, thin white head. Not much as far as retention. Little bits of lacing here and there

Aroma: Strong point of this here beer. Smeels like fresh peaches with a sweetness of peach and vanilla ice cream.

Taste: Wish the flavor came through as much as the aroma. Decent enough peach flavor, not artificial tasting. Balanced by a strong wheat and finishes with a slight hop bitterness. Okay. S

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Carbonation a little more. Not much of a finish. Tastes slightly artificial when it's all said and done. Still I gotta give it props for being a pretty decent beer in what I view as a somewhat bland style.

It's like a Creamsickle but with peach instead of orange! Where were these when I was a kid!

Opening with a pour that's creamy, fluffy, and full of lightness, the ale breams with a straw-colored body and near-bright clarity. Only the pectin haze prevents brilliant shine. The cotton-white cap is firm, withstanding and simply exudes the sense of what's creamy. Light on lace, the beer doesn't need it as it has already lured me in.

Candied aromas remind me of sherbert with that bright punch of peach. Rich tropical and orchard fruit aromas are ripe and seem nearly of tangerine, blood orange and apricot- yet it is peach at its roots. The strong presence of vanilla almost evokes aromas of nutmeg and almond.

Where the nose promises sweetness, the taste offers more bitterness, as if of the pit and skins of peaches while the body is grainy-sweet from malts. Herbal in its hop balance, the beer races toward zesty acidity for refreshment and drinkability. Finishing grainy-dry, the taste never really delivers on those aromatic promises.

Medium-light in body, the full creaminess of carbonation gives full impressions on the mouth early. But the creamy textures are fast fleeting and the middle palate is left with a dry and lightly puckering sensation- as if biting into grape seeds. This astringency grows in finish but is masked by the stemmy nature of hop bitterness. Its overall lightness late leaves me wanting more.

If only the ale could have carried those tantilizing aromas through to taste and texture as well and we could have something special. But the beer is worth the purchase based on aromas alone!

Bought a six in Greenville SC
Pours a cloudy haze with wheat sediment.
You do get the peach and wheat aroma. Like a peach cream fizz.
A medium mouthfeel and nice carbonation . It's refreshing not overwhelming.
This is an area known for their peaches and the beer is up and coming as well.
This one can be a chick beer or a summer favorite ...

P: Hazed orangish golden body with no head.

S: Artificial peach and wheat.

T/M: More artificial peach less wheat. This reminds me of a flat peach faygo or maybe a peach flavored Mich Ultra. The carbonation was not there and the body was thin.

O: If this was not a $3 special I would have complained and sent it back. I'm highly disappointed in this considering how many people rave about this beer. I hate being so negative but I liked nothing that this beer had to offer. I wouldn't put this on your shirt list.

This was a house recommendation by the proprietress of Mari's Six Pac 'n' Mor in Reading during my most recent foray up that way. Let's see how it pans out.

What are "mean peaches"? Are they like "Mean Girls"?

My angry pour resulted in a finger of bubbly, tawny head with decent retention. Unfiltered, indeed! It was a cloudy orangish-amber in color which made me angry. I feel a mean drunk coming on. Nose was as peachy as Georgia and trying to decide how much of that was "real peaches" and how much was "natural flavor added" just made me angry. Mouthfeel was soft and the peaches almost had a preserve-like sweetness that was thankfully offset by the wheat or I might have been angry. Finish was slightly tart, but definitely peachy. It all added up to a beer that made me mean and angry enough to fire the empty bottle through my neighbor's window. Now, I've got the fuzz to boot!
