Same as the first but different from its self, whatever that means. It's the second installment of the original but everything is the same other than the full bar.
The food is the same as well as the service. As long as you act like you belong there you are all set. The prices are the same as well, this is Cambridge (Boston area) and this is the way it is. You could be worse off and go to a trendy club to drop $6 on a short pint of Guinness. This is a no holds barred beer bar so just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Visited the night before the AOBF. Smallish type place with some good tunes pumping through the speakers, not too loud. Beer was excellent and the selection was more than adequate although slightly pricey for bottles. Service was a bit spotty, at times being very attentive and at other times letting us go for quite some time without beers, also some of the draught pours seemed a bit short to me. Food that I tried was tasty and it is hard to beat a burger and fries for less than $2. Overall a good place to go grab a beer and I would return if in the area.

I visited this place the night before the AoBF...
Atmosphere: The decor is cool, but the bar is really smokey and the music is played WAY too loud. Having a normal conversation almost becomes a shouting contest.
Quality: The beer and food selections were both quite good. However, when a Belgian bottled beer was ordered, the server staff would pour it for you, yeast sediment and all. I don't like that...
Service: The staff was somewhat attentive, but I found my glass empty several times without a quick replacement. Other BA's in my party on several occasions asked for their underpoured drafts to be topped off, only to be told no.
Selection: Simply put, their beer selection kicks ass. A fair selection on draft, and lots of good bottles make for a great selection.
Food: The $2 burger I had was good, but how hard is it to get a burger right? I didn't try anything else...

Tried the new Buk's on Friday night before the AOBF and it seems like the old Buk's but with a larger seating area and a different location - though the service is a tad friendlier. They actually allowed me to get my own beer at the bar even though I was hanging out at a table which was nice because the waitress only seemed to come around every half hour. But hold on to your wallet in this joint. Draft pints are decently priced but you get a short pour and you will like it. 16 oz. pint glasses were poured with a two finger head and when I requested a top off, I was rudely told "that is the standard pour". Also the way they were pouring their expensive Belgian bottles was just atrocious. They were swirling the yeast up from the bottle and dumping the whole thing in the glass without even asking if you wanted the yeast pour. Not just the wait staff, but the manager from the old location also. They need to take a trip to Belgium to see how it should be done.

Bukowski's Tavern, Cambridge, is located in Inman Square. The tavern occupies one long room with the front facing Cambridge Street, with the only windows on the front. Most of the room is painted black, except for the left wall which has a somewhat colorful mural with images from Bukowski's life, etc. There are booths along the walls, and some tables in the center, and the right wall is dominated by a long, black bar with fixed bar stools. There are 3 TVs suspended at various points in the room. The restrooms are single person, and a line can form at times.
As for the beer, there were approximately 14 taps with good to excellent choices, including several from Cambridge Brewing Co and Concorde. They also have a lot of beers in bottles ("99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall") which include many Belgians and other fine beers from around the world. They will have a beer engine for casks running soon. The staff seems pretty knowledgeable about beer. The beer selection is definitely the selling point of Bukowski's where the selection and quality of the beers is very good.
The food seemed good (a good variety of bar food on the menu). The music was loud. The bar can get smokey. CASH only. High prices (expect 100% mark up from liquor store prices on bottles). Not a lot of floor space to stand around, but if you can get a table or booth or a seat at the bar, you are all set.
