Witbier |  4.60% ABV

Availability: Year-round. can (16), on-tap (15)

Notes:
An American interpretation of a classic Belgian wheat ale. A hazy light golden color gives this beer its name. This light and refreshing ale is brewed with just a hint of coriander and orange zest giving way to a citrus finish.

A: Light honey or lemonade colour, slightly clouded, 2 finger white fluffy head, little carbonation.

S: Chalk, coriander seed, honey, lemon, slight floral.

T: Watery, slight coriander, chalk, lemon rind.

M: Medium body is watery and only a slight carbonation.

O: Would imagine this refreshing on a hot day in the South, or anywhere. Watery, reminding me of melted ice with the remains of an old lemon or gingerale soda. Like the can, love its from the south, refreshing and would go well with salads, light foods like cold meats etc.

Pours a hazy, golden/straw color. There is also some suspended sediment. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and slight lacing. Smells of hop oils, slight floral hops, slight pale malt, slight coriander, hint of earthy malt, and a hint of lemon. Fits the style of a Witbier. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of hop oils, hint of lemon, slight pale malt, hint of sweet malt, and a hint of coriander. Overall, decent appearance, aroma, blend, and body.

Picked up some local brews on a beer run while on vacation at Myrtle Beach. This was one of them had never heard of them and guy at counter said they were new.(Maybe to the store dont know)

A: Upon pour this looked just p[lain whole lot of foamy top but by the larger bubbles knew it would not last long.

S: Aroma is of wheat and as the can states just a hint wasall you get.

T: Taste is about what I expected with the thinner pour and light aromas, very light wheaty and not a whole bunch of flavor but I found out they taste better icey cold on a hot beach than sitting and relaxing at home.

M: Mouthfeel is on the thin watery side with no lacing and very little carbonation, I did like this aspect reminded me of a true ale as tasted over in Wales in various Pubs.

O: Overall an ok beer with at least a drinkable quality not a drain pour.

Can poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: Pale and hazy straw color. Not even a fingers worth of white head. Fades to nothing quickly.

Aroma: Typical of the style. Mostly dominated by wheat. Somewhat faint citrus and coriander aromas.

Taste: A tad under-flavored. Wheaty. Can says "brewed with just a hint of coriander and orange zest". I'd agree with that statement, "just a hint".

Mouthfeel: A little on the thin side with soft carbonation. Finishes with a dry wheat. Very plain, rather unremarkable, and boring. Just a standard wit.

look: 3.5 | smell: 2.5 | taste: 2.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3

Appearance: Pours out a hazy, faint, pale yellow body with a small-sized, sudsy white head.

Smell: A light maltiness hinting a faint sweetness in the nose and just a touch of a honeyish quality.

Taste: Particularly pale maltiness with a trifling wheat character and a hint of honeyish sweetness. Low coriander and, here we are, waiting for some citrus that never really presents itself. Still, a light maltiness, a light pinch of coriander on the sweetish finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium-light carbonation.

Overall: It's light, lacking and it's only real fault is it's friggin' boring, BUT, it's a beer from Myrtle Beach sold in Myrtle Beach -- it's hot, it's sunny, and, damn, these people need refreshment, so that's probably what it's going for and I won't begrudge it for that.

poured from can into pilsner glass

A-traditional BMC gold color with about a 1/2" head that faded away rapidly

S-slight orange citrus followed by even fainter malt

T-not a lot going on here either a little of the orange and spices it says that it is brewed with but not much in the way of malts or hops

M-carbonation ok but it is pretty thin and watery

O-better than most BMC offerings but not much in the way of anything resembling complexity, but if I were in SC I would probably pick this every time over BMC

Beer served in a can.

Nice corn-yellow color. Some head and lacing.

Aroma of citris and a bit of wheat.

Flavor is unremarkable but drinkable. I can taste the citrus in the background however I seem to be reminded of a typical macrobrew. Spices are enhanced as it warms.

This is good beach beer when there are a mix of craft brew drinkers and non-craft drinkers. Pick it up when you visit Myrtle Beach with your friends.

from notes taken at the brewery:

A: pours a hazy gold orange into a clear plastic cup with a finger of white froathy head.

S: sweet malt, caramel, biscuits, orange/citrus and spices.

T: the orange presents itself first and is followed in by light malt and sweet biscuits. its brought full circle with more citrus and spices, corriander and even some clove.

MF: Crisp and refreshing. Medium body and not too sweet or spicy.

O: Good beach beer in a can, strong witbier, I wish I chould find this around me.

A: Poured from a can to pint glass. Had a pale yellow color and a slightly hazy texture. There was a half inch of foamy head that quickly dissipated. No lacing to speak of.

S: A very mild, almost undetectable aroma of malt, and citrus.

T: Tasted of malt, with some lemon and a just a hint of coriander. Like the smell, the taste was very mild and thin. Did not have the vibrancy of other witbiers.

M: A fair amount of carbonation with a somewhat slick finish. Light-bodied.

O: This is a decidedly average and forgettable beer. Not offensively bad, but not something I'd drink twice.

A big shout out to the legendary woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a cloudy golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some notes of citrus. Taste is also mild, some citrus and wheat, a tad sour, kind of lacking in spice. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall, while not a bad beer, it seems to be lacking in flavor and drinkability.
