A rather unsuspecting good beer store located in one of those hellish mini-mall-big-box-outlet-freeway-off-ramp monstrosities. Not a huge store, but big enough. Selection is very good, but not great. Local and regional micros are pretty well represented, along with familiar W. and E. coast micros. English and German selection is not great, but decent. The Belgian area was pretty damn good. I was surprised to see things like Deus, Abbaye des Rocs, and Liefman's Gluhkriek. Some stock is stored cold, but the Belgians were at store temp. What I really liked about this place was that they offered everything as singles. I was able to grab a nice selection of Capital, Bell's, and Lake Superior without breaking the bank. The employee I talked to was really into beer and it was obvious he wanted his store to get even more brands in stock. Worth a visit, especially if you're in the North Metro area.

This is one store in the Twin Cities that has a pretty nice singles selection. I think they try to keep the outdated stuff out of the mix, but I do run across outdated beers in the Singles from time to time. After pointing it out, they remove the beer and replace it with good ones if they are available. Solid beer selection including Bell's, Capital, Summit, Goose Island, Schell's and a decent selection of imports (Fuller's, Paulaner's, etc.) The service is very friendly. I did buy a keg of Oberon here last summer that was delicious.

D&L is a local store which is has a pretty good selection and reasonable prices. I think the previous 4.5 may be a bit high for this neighborhood store due to lack of selection. Better than most but not the best in town which is what the 4.5 rating implies (to me).
The owners are great though and the place is clean with a very good selection for the MSP area. 4 of 5 is more like it.
11/04 - I have to increase my rating. D&L has increased their selection and rivals any place in the Twin Cities. I only wish that they had every type in the cooler when I need that quick fix.
11/08 - Ownership has changed and the dedication to beer has not improved as a result. They still have a good selection and decent prices but not much new. They have not picked up local Surley beer for example even though I have mentioned it to them
4/09 - D&L has not improved. Another ownership change has occurred and the store has lost its focus. Just in business to sell liquor, wine, and beer. Too many beers have not been replaced and nothing new has been added. Resting on past laurels. Still ok but there are better places to go.

One of only a few places that will break up six packs on the spot if you'd like, and have a whole, fairly large shelf of "singles only" to pick through, not to mention they have any of those singles as sixers. The selection is pretty good, fairly decent import section including most available Belgians, German, and the UK. The micro section is pretty good, with the usual goodies found elsewhere with some Bell's, Sierra Nevada, Flying Dog, Big Sky, Goose Island, Capital, & some Rogue. They could maybe beef that part up, but they have a solid selection to chose from and your sure to find something to drink that you'll like. The service is awesome, they're all super nice to talk with and pretty knowledgable about most of the beers. I was able to stump them with a couple questions. Plus, they had no problem with me wanting a few out of sixer, and just priced them as singles and put the ones I wasn't getting on the single shelf. The prices are great, I recently walked out with two sixers of 5 different beers for $11. You can't go wrong here, very nice little place at the end of a small strip mall next to Papa Murphy's Pizza, just off the freeway exit on 35E and Cnty Rd. E by Target. D & L is for Dana & Larry, nice folks.
