Pours clear golden with a thick rocky head. Nose is pineapple, cantaloupe, bubblegum, spiciness, honey, with a tangy sweetness rounded out by some cloves. Nice sweet body, (evokes Leffe), with a tasty clove finish. The 9% is well hidden in this excellent tripel.

33 cl bottle, a bit past the best by date of 9/2012 but refrigerated since purchase. Served in a tulip glass. Pours crystal clear, yellow-gold, with lots of barely visible fine carbonation. It is and topped by a durable, semi-creamy white head.
Aroma: yeast-fruity-malty, rather typical for style if a bit subdued and, thankfully, without so much banana or clove as some. Some musty/yeasty aromatics are not appealing.
Taste: slightly spicy and nicely fruity. Excellent tart/sweet balance.
M: surprisingly full body; very smooth; very good lively carbonation; slightly dry, particularly in the finish.
O: excellent example of the style, and reassuring that this Belgian brew remains intact after, apparently, a brewery takeover by Heineken. Very high drinkability.

Served from a 33 cl bottle into a goblet.
A - Medium straw color, crystal clear. Head is white, fluffy and very active. It nearly jetted out the top of my goblet after only pouring half the beer. It quickly settled to a layer 1 cm thick or less but with very thick lacing.
S - The aroma is of pilsner malt, lemon and a bit of orange peel, but somehow the citrus does not give a fresh, clean impression. No hops that I can detect. There may be a spice hanging out on the edge of my perception.
T - Strong pilsner malt flavor. Spiciness that is probably from yeast rather than a spice addition. There is a low-to-moderate hops bitterness and slight hops flavor. Not much complexity or depth of flavor.
M - Moderate to thick body. Carbonation is present, but soft somehow. A small bit of bite from alcohol, but not overly boozy. Somewhat cloying mouthfeel in the aftertaste.
O - This is a decent Belgian ale, but not a classic of the Tripel style.

20 Oct 2012: beautiful sunny day in the Dutch tourist town of Valkenburg. We sat on some random bar terrace and the beer menu had this on it.
33cl Bottle, best before the end of July 2013: poured into a Grimbergen chalice.
Good clean golden looks: full white crown at first, soon a wisp and collar.
Floral hop nose with mild fruit hints and some yeast esters.
The taste is an OK blend of those floral hops and some hidden malt semi-sweetness. The alcohol and yeast also play a part in ensuring this is one of brand Grimbergen's better beers.
Body depth isn't too deep, but it does fine if you consider this as a light bodied Triple. Just above Mr Average.

Poured from a 300 ml bottle into a wide glass. Its colour is deep golden yellow. Not many bubbles in. Head was okay, didn't saty long though. Taste is bitter-sweet. The body is thin with average carbonation. I didn't hate it and it didn't become my favorite tripel . Overall an average.
