207ml stubby, less than a buck at a small-town liquor store. "Premium Light Beer", apparently, and a not-so thinly veiled insult to the fairer sex's drinking predilections, it would seem.
This beer pours a clear, pale yellow straw colour, with a half finger of fizzy, crackling dirty white head, which disappears almost instantly, leaving nothing in the way of lace, that would indicate that some foam passed through here.
It smells of musty applesauce, mushy banana, thin corn grits, and a subtle nail polish remover twitch - there ya, go ladies! The taste is sweetish decaying orchard fruit, some weak, corny graininess, and a frowsy dustiness, that could be the eerie echo of the hops that may have been. Or not.
The bubbles are rather restrained, just gently prodding, the body light, but not thin, a meek, chalky clamminess taking care of that, even dragging things near smoothness. It finishes fairly off-dry, the zombie fruitiness phoning it in.
In considering solely the beer, well, this is just a plain-ass adjunct-spawned light lager, one whose general taste inoffensiveness belies the brewing culprits, as their other similar offerings are usually quite deplorable. As for the whole marketing mess they've stepped into here - I'm reminded of when Fruili hit the market around here, and I was amused to see young women everywhere in pub/clubs/etc with a little bottle of Belgian fruit beer clutched in their hands. That seems so innocent and natural, now, in relation to this cheap pandering stunt.
So, with apologies to Billy Joel, I sure ain't in love with this uptown girl.
