Ah, Canadian-brewed beers in big cans. I was a big fan of Canadian Foster's for many years until they started brewing it in Texas and Alabama. Also a big fan of Molson Golden until they started brewing it in Colorado. Been meaning to try this one for a review for quite some time. Hope it lives up to my previous experience.
Served in an Imperial pint glass.
-Appearance 2.5: Very light golden color. Looks kind of watery. I imagine the brewmaster was going for something different, maybe a "true golden color" or something. Regardless, dropping some 40L grains in there would have made it look more...professional.
-Smell 3.0: The bouquet is of sweet barley with some slight adjunct hints. This has a distinct lager smell, which is sometimes bad, but in this case is actually just average.
-Taste 2.75: Front is slightly sweet, with adjunct hints of corn coming through the taste. Middle is smooth and light with slight tastes of barley. Finish is big with waves of sweet, malty goodness. However, this quickly fades into a smooth aftertaste that features more corny adjunct flavors. Are there hops in this? Maybe kent golding or something way down the alpha scale. Also, there is a pervasive, unnatural quality to this beer. The word "industrial" springs to mind. It started to grow in my palate after each sip until I felt like just giving up and stopping my session.
-Mouthfeel 3.25: Spot on for this style. Carbonation (CO2, of course) was refreshing and hit the mark. Nice, smooth mouthfeel, also.
-Overall 2.75: This brew is certainly not going to win any medals, but it is not the nightmare experience that some would have you believe it to be. It is a big beer and since it is a cheap beer, that means lots of adjuncts. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing regarding bouquet and mouthfeel. This is not a bad beer and you sure as shootin' could do a lot worse. I would recommend it to be consumed in limited quantities. Not a session beer unless you live in a cardboard box near the railyard.

Poured from can into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a golden color with a large white head. The heads retentions rather weak and it fades quite fast giving way a light amount of lacing.
Smell – The smell is heavy of cereal. Corn is the heaviest with a lighter amount of wheat mixed of a slightly metallic and caramel aroma as well.
Taste – The sweet corn present in the nose is the first meet by the tongue. There are light hints of caramel more towards the middle, but these are very light in comparison to the sweeter corn flavor. At the end of a taste, an alcohol flavor works its way in. It’s not too potent and gives a nice warming feel.
Mouthfeel – The mouthfeel is good for the style. A little bit above average in terms of body with a medium level of carbonation. Very fitting for the brew.
Overall – This was not what I would call a great brew, but it did have some decent characteristics and did have a more potent flavor. It is very reminiscent of a malt, but with a little bit more flavor. Nothing great, but for the price (while not as economic as a malt like steel reserve) it works.

A: The beer is crystal clear golden yellow in color and has a slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high white head that quickly died down and left some lacing on the surface and a ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: There are light aromas of sweet malts and corn in the nose.
T: The initial taste has notes of malty sweetness and the finish has some hints of bitterness. It becomes a little sweeter as the beer warms up.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is not a bad beer for the style because the alcohol is relatively well masked from the taste. It tastes more like a “souped up” American Adjunct Lager.

Poured from a 25.4 oz oil can.
A: Pours a crystal clear golden yellow with some light visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall white head that reduces to a thin layer covering the surface of the beer and a thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate lacing is observed.
S: The aroma reminds me of an American adjunct lager - lots of malt sweetness including both grain and corn. Very light hint of hops.
T: The flavor is a little more balanced than you sometimes get in this style, starts out a little sweet from the adjunct malts (grain mostly, a little corn) and finishes with light bitterness.
M: Just a little bit heavier than light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: This is a beer that reminds of college, upstate New York in the early to mid-1990s and getting this whenever we went to Canada because it was not allowed to be distributed in the US at the time. Better than I expected for the style, this is actual a fairly drinkable beer for the style. Pretty easy to drink. The alcohol is pretty well hidden.

Picked up a couple of oil cans after an ugly night. Poured into a pint glass:
A- Clear golden color with a thick fluffy white head.
S- Not too bad. Kind of fruity, some green apples along with malts and floral notes.
T- Kind of like the nose but not exactly. Grainy, sweet, fruity but with some odd astringent flavors to it, can't quite make out what it is. A little bit of booze burn shows up now and again. Overall the flavor wasn't very strong, it tasted a little watery at times.
M- Thin and very carbonated.
O- Not nearly as bad as I expected. It reminded me of a Euro Strong lager just a little. Its nothing more than just a way of getting drunk fast and for cheap. Not something I'll drink often but I might revisit this on a drunken night.

25.4oz fat can. Another Molson offering that I’ve only even seen in the States. And 'Super Premium', {cough} it would seem.
This beer pours a clear pale golden hue, with three fingers of thin foamy, rocky white head, which leaves a dense snake of lace around the glass as it quickly sets in. It smells of sweet grainy corn, and a bit of saccharine alcohol. The taste is very sweet corn cereal mash, and even more sweetness, but not edginess, from the booze. The carbonation is quite low, the body medium weight, mostly from the clammy, sugary nature, and smooth in the same vein. It finishes with a bit of the grain actually poking through the morass of lingering multivariate sweetness.
As far as malt likkas go, this ain't actually that bad – just too sweet in absence of the expected skank. The name resonates for some reason, though…

Poured from a 25.4oz can (roughly 750ml I guess) into a pint glass. Bought this as a joke to celebrate a friends birthday and now I'm left to consuming it.
Crystal clear light amber/dark golden color with a bit fizzy white head to start but quickly fades.
Sweet and grainy on the nose and just a touch of alcohol as well. Hops seem non-existent. As it warms the little bit of sweet malt notes it had disappear and are replaced by a metallic tin-like aroma.
Taste is just about what one would expect, however a bit watery for a relatively high ABV macro. Some bread and cereal like characteristics. A bit of corn as well. Hop bitterness seems stale at best. The only reason this doesn't score lower here is because the wateriness keeps anyone flavor from completely ruining it all.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and well carbonated but a bit too boozy. Overall, there isn't much you can say about this beer. It only exists so Queebs can get drunk for no more than a toonie or two.

Poured from a "super premium" 24.5oz can into a 24oz glass mug.
A - Thick meringue like white head with small yeasty beads and shaving cream lacing. Clarity is high but color itself is a dull generic honey brown.
S - Lots of aluminum smells sadly. Smells like a 40oz. Generic malt liquor smells resembling freshly cut grass, corn and malts soaked in apple cider vinegar, wet rice, and corn husks.
T - Better than the smell would lead you to believe. Has a very distinct adjunct malt taste. No hops, no malts, no honey, no chocolate, not even any skunky flavors. If it were for the aluminum can taste in my mouth I might not know this beer was there. Leaves a slight "golden" aftertaste at the end of every non-exciting gulp. Must be the ABV talking.
M - No overly strong alcohol burn or fusil burn. A bit loose around the edges in a watery sense.
D - Beer does it's job of sending you into a light headed trance without putting too much hurt on the wallet. It's not the best beer around and I hardly think it's deserving of a title like Super Premium. If mediocre is their version of extravagance I shudder to think what the regular Molsen tastes like.

Big 25.4oz can, a paltry $2.29 from Lebanon Village Market in Lebanon NH. Code Jun1211 08225L. Served cold in a pilsner glass. It dribbled a bit on my desk, the can doesn't pour very well.
A: Clear, fizzy, pale yellow brew gives a big 3" of white head that settles after a while. Actually a pretty good looking brew. Head has decent retention, leaves spotty chunky lace and forms interesting 3D structure as it degrades.
S: Dear god. Smells like metal and hydrochloric acid. Like something you'd use to eat the algae off the bottom of a boat that had been in the water for a long time. I guess that's one way to hide this much EtOH in a brew this thin.
T: Mix of acid and alcohol up front and throughout. A good dose of metal. A bit of corny sweetness peeks out mid-palate. No hops at all. Finishes with alcohol on my breath and metal in my mouth.
D: Thin and watery, with a weird bit of corn sweetness viscosity. Serve this brew no more than ice cold and it might be tolerable. I put it in the freezer before attempting to finish the rest.
I probably haven't had this since college (~10yrs?) and I don't remember it being nearly this bad. Has my palate evolved delicate sensitivities, or has this gotten worse, or is this a bad can? Who knows. Battery acid. Battery acid. Bleh. Drain pour the rest (2/3 of it)

I may take some flak for this, but I actually enjoy this beer on it's own merits. Lemme explain....
First had this at a hockey game when the Thrashers were playing the Maple Leafs and the beer line wanted to cater to the audience. When in Rome, drink Molson, (if they're out of Peroni, I guess) so I waved my cash and asked for the black can.
Since then I've had this many times away from the ice and it still tickles my fancy.
Strong gold color with a healthy cream head that lingers before evaporating. Decent carbination in the pour and the bubbles stick around for a while.
The aroma does leave something to be desired. I used to sling malt liquor in the UK to the drunks; Special Brew, the purple tin, Kestrel Super, etc.. Sadly, this brew tingles the nose the way those regulars smelled, but they drank that stuff like water, so I can't hold it *that* much against this brew.
I found the mouthfeel to be rich and full and easy to drink. The alcohol was hidden well and didn't burn at all. Hints of corn and adjunct on the palate, granted, but again I knew what I was getting into when I bought this.
Overall drinkability is good.
Some of us can't drink Uncle Pliny's Arrogant Hop Enema each and every day, so this does the trick for me on those occasions when I'm half-way to payday and need something better than Yuengling or PBR.
I personally like it, but taste is a subjective thing.

Poured from a 25.4 ounce can into a beer glass.
Appearance: The best feature of this beer is the head, hands down. Thick, yet airy, like a cumulus cloud. Dimples slowly down to meet the slightly darkened straw colored beer. Medium carbonation is visible. Not bad from the get-go.
Smell: Fresh popcorn, faint bitter hop aromas, very light malt base. Only a touch of alcohol is present in the nose. In that it is NOT unpleasant, I give it just a touch above average.
Taste/Mouthfeel: For a malt liquor, there's a lot of good flavor here. Beer starts out crisply, with some initial bitterness. As the beer warms on the tongue, the malt actually comes through with some subtle sweetness, almost a melon-like quality. Texture becomes slightly chewy, allowing for the flavor to be released. Aftertaste is almost non-existent, which I have found to be a positive quality with most malt liquors.
Drinkability: Cold, it's a great malt liquor. I'm not so sure how I would feel about it served at room temperature...so I won't wait too long to finish this brew.
Nice job Molson for making a decent Malt Liquor...a style renowned for its inability to achieve in taste what it achieves in ABV.

24 oz can into a frosty glass
A - light yellow wheat, pale and fizzy, ironicly head leaves a little bit of lace around the glass, slight urine color
S - lemon, old grass smell
T - metallic taste, slight alcohol, and strange chemical essence
M - Light and smooth but slightly oily, not good oily like an IPA but like i just licked the Exxon Valdez.
D - Unless, I've had quite a few glasses of burbon and actually good beer and didn't know what i was thinking, absolutely not.
Overall a horrible beer, I used to drink Molson Canadian in college and was a big fan, but this has got to be one of the worst offsprings of the Molson company, excuse me while I try to correct the flavor with a finer malt liquor like an Old English... Yeah, it sucks that bad

Pours pale gold with a white fizzy head. This is a big can, so topping of keeps he head alive. No lacing, no bubbles.
Corn and light malt, and sweetness and alcohol. A hot sweet mess. Not really inviting.
Macro corn sweetness, some sweet bread and bitterness that is like grain husk, a bite of chemical alcohol, an d a sour/bitter finish. I guess the bitter husk was ok, but that's it.
Lighter bodied, but funny, a bit mouth coating. Alcohol gives you some pucker. It works.
I had this about 20 years ago. My oh my, has my palate changed. Hard to get this down. Bought as a novelty and glad I only got one, and that it was cheap. No reason to drink this. Strength of this beer is the only selling point.

So, I bought this because of the USA playing Suomi in Canada today, thought I would support our brothers to the north.
A- Surprisingly frothy, tall, white 2 finger head that dissipates quickly into nothing, no swirling is bringing this head back. Pale golden color.
S- Cheap cereal grain, ethanol. Faint, un-discernible DMS nose.
T- Like a cheap American lager, with a little vodka in the throat.
M- watery, but faint coating alcohol burn
D- Rough, but, I'm sure you would be drunk fast, and it would become much easier.

This "super premium beer" is best left in its original habitat (the can).
XXX comes with a surprisingly decent head that holds up for at least 15 seconds. Standard piss blonde color of macros. Pungent industrial smell with some mineral twinge.
At 7.3%, I'd like to give the Canucks a little credit on this not-so-bad one. The black oil can with XXX label is also completely bad ass. I felt like a hockey player for 15 minutes. F#ckn A man!

Had this one shortly after the Molson Canadian....not a lot of choice at the hockey game. Smoother and actgually more tasty than the Canadian, and higher alcohol to boot. Not as grainy as the other, and there was actually a hint of malt, though the alcohol hid most other flavors and scents.
While better than the Canadian, a far cry from a decent beer.

Poured from a 25.4 oz can into pint glass.
A - Pale straw, perfectly clear. Half inch of white, fizzy head rises and falls quickly. No lacing. Decent bubble activity from the bottom.
S - DMS is a rather large factor in the aroma, moreso than I've smelled in a lot of malt liquors as of late. Vague cereal grain, a touch of alcohol, and a metallic snap are evident as well.
T - At first I thought this brew was walking the line between good ol' macro lager and two fisted malt liquor, but I'm coming to the conclusion that this tastes like a macro with a shot of vodka. It isn't terrible, but it isn't what I'm looking for in a malt liquor. Early and mid palate flavors are almost nonexistant, carried away quickly by the carbonation. Mid to late palate a quick sweetness hits but is almost immediately pierced by a harsh burst of alcohol. Cereal grain flavor mingles around the edges but the alcohol is overpowering. Finish is dusty, metallic, and mildly astringent. The aftertaste itself knocks this beer down an entire half point; a sickening mixture of dirt, sugar, and a medicinal/crushed aspirin sort of bitterness.
M - Like the taste, much more akin to a regular macro. Body is thin and much less sturdy than most of the style. Carbonation is huge and doesn't let up.
D - Despite it's flaws, it isn't too bad to drink, though it's still low on the list even of "bad beers." As a sort of amped-up macro it might work, but it's far to crisp and dry for a proper malt liquor, not to mention I've had beers with almost twice the ABV of this where the alcohol was MUCH less noticable.

25.4 ounce can. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a clear gold color with a huge 2 inch frothy white head. Head retention is average, lacing is good. Not much to the aroma, it smells like corn, sweet malt and alcohol. The taste isn't good at all. There's a metallic bitter taste which is strongest, along with some corn and other grain. Not much aftertaste at all, which I have to say is a good thing for this beer. Mouthfeel is light, but not watery. Drinkabiility isn't good, but could be a lot worse. This beer looks good, but unfortunately it goes downhill from there. Not one of Molson's better efforts, that's for sure. Stick with the Canadian, Export Ale or Golden and stay away from this brew.

Pours a rather uninspiring clear straw yellow, but at least the white head is rather thick and sticks around for a while. Aroma is weak and watery, but does have a good fruity overtone that keeps it from being a total loss. Flavor is better than I expected from the weak aroma - fairly strong, malty with a hint of fruit, nothing special but at least palatable. Texture is smooth, if a teensy bit slimy. Not too hot, but OK if nothing else is available.

Pours a light amber/gold with a small head of eggshell foam.
Aroma of sour corn grain & diacetyl..
Harsh caramel malt flavor and a generally lackluster overall flavor (even for a malt liquor..) Has a slight metallic, tainted rubber aspect to it as well.
Slick, sluggishly carbonated mouthfeel.
all things considered, the drinkability is pretty poor..massive can and oily body really turn me off..i can't really see myself drinking this again for any reason.

Crystal clear, a little darker yellow than I expected, basically gold in color. It had a two finger cap of bright white, soapy bubbles that fell quickly, but left behind a surprising amount of clumpy lacing. A thin skim and collar stuck around for quite a while. Aromas of cooked corn, very sweet, a little bit of malt, no hops. Just a bit of alcohol here too. Not much in the way of bitterness, which let the sickly veggie sweetness shine through. Faint hit of hops near the end. Quick finish as far as the sweetness went, but there was some lingering coarse bitterness with a tingly alcohol/warmth. There's a little more body here than your standard industrial lager, which tempers the coarse carbonation just a little bit. Quite dry even with all the sweetness, and since it's not very crisp that really makes it less than an appealing drink after the first half glass. The best thing I can say about this beer is that if you're looking for a buzz, it's cheap and will get the job done.

Sampled out of an oversize can picked up at Niagara Falls. Poured into my pint glass with a big, fluffy beige head that became a nice, sticky cap. Very good lacing and retention for a macro-brew. Bronze color completes an overall good looking beer. The aromas were strange, musty and stale like beer spilled on hay. The flavors were thankfully better than the aroma but still quite pungent, a syrupy sweetness like karo syrup obviously being used to mask the 7.3% ALC. Bitter hops in the middle and more caramel malt sweetness at the end. Slightly metallic. For being what it is (mass produced malt liquor) this is pretty good. But it's still tough to down one and the best I can say for it is A for effort but C for execution.
