Rickard's Red, it's a beer that I'm unfortunately drawn to as there is NO GOOD BEER in the small town of Waterford, Ontario. Alas it's not disgusting, it's a so so beer that isn't good but isn't bad. There's a small amount of flavor, and it's not off putting.

Smells like a slightly breadier than usual macro lager, as to be expected. A hint of maltiness, not much else.

Not very dissimilar to the nose, it's a beer that I can gulp without the nauseating feeling of having to put it back in the glass.

Like I said, there's no good beer out here, you either get used to it or you put up some cash and drive a lot. Seriously, I have to drive 25 minutes to get to an LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) that stocks about 10 decent craft beers that aren't macro produced wannabes. For the real good stuff I have to drive 45 minutes to an hour. Don't waste your time with this beer unless you're in my position. I moved from just outside of Philadelphia to here, Beer Hell.

Rickard is Canada's Leienkugels, I take it? Solid, well-priced beers that beer snobs tend to hate because neophyte beer people mistake them for legit craft brews.

This is a lightly hopped, bready, well balanced red ale. Very drinkable though not really exceptional in any way. I wish I had more to say but I don't because, really, not all that much was going on here.

A step up for a macro: a bit more flavorful than, say, Molson, and with absolutely no off nodes.

From notes... On tap at Boston Pizza...

A - Pours a clear amber colour, finger of head with little retention and no lacing.

S - Scent is bready and grainy, hints of grassy notes and burnt sugar on the finish.

T - Much like the nose with the grainy bready malt notes dominating, the subtle grassy hop notes on the finish and a lingering bready flavour.

M - Medium, smooth and wet.

O - Easy drinking but not much in terms of flavour. Reminiscent of a Molson Canadian with red food colouring.
