i feel as if i'm stuck in a rut of reviewing average to below average brews. that doesn't change with molson ice. actually poured a deeper gold/yellow than i expected, but with absoulutely no head and minimal carbonation. smelled a bit sweeter than i remembered and the taste proved my nose right. definitely too sweet of a taste here for me and i was put off by the hints of alchohol as well. not a major problem with the beer itself, more of a personal preference thing, but i was still not that impressed overall.

This beer came to the table in the pint glass a gold straw color. The head was non-existent, but I did happen to look over and notice that it was white when it came out of the tap. The aroma was not all that there, smells of corn, grain, water, some citrus and hops. The taste was watery and not that impressive. Some malt, hops and corn were present, but I did notice the taste of alcohol in my glass. Decent carbonation was present. The one thing wrong with this beer is that the few times I have had it before I noticed that they all tasted different from the next. Better then drinking the other stuff they had on tap.

Pours an ugly aal color, but with a little more darkness and depth to the yellow color, probably because of the lesser water content caused by the 'icing' of the beer. Aroma is wickedly alcoholic. Seriously, you'd think this is 8%abv+ if it was a blind aroma sniffing competition. Sometimes the skunky aroma helps, because it obscures the alcohol.

Taste, one of the very, very few beers I'd say to drink very cold. It tastes like alcohol! The warmer it gets, the more this aspect gets played up in the mouthfeel. Carbonation is a little high, thankfully, but it doesn't do enough to trick me into thinking its well hopped or isn't a little thin malt wise to the fusel like alcohol heat. When they are skunky, it actually tastes better.

Its kinda harsh, but sometimes that's what you're looking for.

Poured from the can into a pint glass.

A - Clear amber-gold color with a finger-and-a-half head. Leaves lacing, but it disappears. Fizzy head.

S - Corn malt, grassiness, sugar, alcohol.

T - Corn malt, grass, sugar, alcohol, can metal.

M - Crisp but icy (no pun intended), it almost seems like it would crunch a bit if you could chew it, like slush. Kinda bitter aftertaste.

O - Like pretty much every "ice" beer, it just can't stand up to the regular version it sprang from. The colder the better, to match the ice in the game you're watching that inspired you to buy it.

A - Clear golden with a two finger frothy white head. Leaves no lacing.

S - Perfect amounts of rice adjunct, creamed corn, pale malt, aluminum.

T - Loads of rice up front, creamed corn middle, pale malt and rice finish. Well balanced for an adjunct, and I'm happy that it lacks any corn adjunct flavors. Tasty for the style.

M - Light crisp body with medium carbonation.

O - Overall, probably the best AAL that I have ever had. Perfectly balanced, easy drinking and very sessionable. Even my summer shandy loving girlfriend liked it so that's a bonus!

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance- Pours a golden-straw color with a one finger fizzy head. The head of the brew fades quite quickly to leave only minimal lacing.

Smell – The aroma is sweet of corn and has a decent bready smell. Mixed with these aromas is a light caramel as well.

Taste – The taste is quite sweet up front and remains so throughout the taste. It begins with a light bready taste mixed with a strong sweet corn taste. As the taste advances the bready fades with the sweet getting stronger. As the taste sweetened with flavors of caramel and more corn, it became a little cloying. The flavors were never really off, just a little too sweet. In the end a light metallic taste joins the sweetness leaving a sweet and light metal flavor on the tongue.

Mouthfeel –The body of the beer was on the average side in terms of creaminess and carbonation. Both were good for the style and made for a rather easy drinking brew.

Overall- Well nothing really all that fantastic and definitely nothing to go out of your way for. For 50 cents a bottle thought, you can’t expect too much, and it could be good for a party style brew I suppose.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Let's rock some ice, folks! This stuff pours a clear pale straw topped by a half-finger of short-lived off-white foam. The nose comprises sweet corn, mineral water, sweet flowers, and a kiss of wheat. The taste holds notes of hard water, light tin, funky wheat, light powdered sugar, and mild corn. There's an off taste in there somewhere (it moves around, all Heisenbergian and whatnot). The body is pretty light, with a moderate carbonation and a watery feel. Overall, a kinda sad little beer, but one that thankfully isn't entirely offensive.

It's 90°F in the house right now (a great morning temperature to start off the day indoors--can't wait for today's high! [sarcasm]. It's sad, because it's so hot two of my four cats are panting their furry little asses off and breathing rapidly, but there's nothing I can do... and it's only going to get hotter.

Well, broke as I am, I bought two 24-ounce cans of Molson Ice. Unless I was screwing around, there's no way I would be getting either of these beers if I had extra money to spend. I have had it before, and in fact I always confuse Molson Ice and Labatt Ice. This is partially the reason I'm writing this review... as a personal reminder to NOT accidentally pick this one up again! I don't remember what the Labatt Ice tastes like right now, but I'm pretty sure it was the better one of the two. Either way, back to this beer.

Appearance: Pours a very weak, unattractive looking pale yellow. Somewhat lively carbonation with a big white head that, as expected, recedes to a thin ring, but surprisingly leaves some lacing. I think I'll give it a few points for the decent lacing at least, but otherwise... the appearance itself is too typical (white head on straw body) and the color of the liquid beer itself is too pale. The carbonation quickly fizzles away, and the beer is crystal-clear.

Smell: Honestly, I don't know how to describe this. Man-made chemically sweetness? It's just not good, though not quite as in-your-face as...

Taste: Yep, it keeps going downhill. This beer tastes like... well, synthetic chemically sweetness. Completely unnatural. Similar artifical aftertaste that seems to linger. So sweet and synthetic tasting, in fact, that it's hard to drink... it's downright nasty, especially as it warms a bit. I guess it's good as a cheap alcohol delivery system, but warning: do NOT drink it on a hot, 90-degree day! Unless you are prepared to drink out of a frozen mug or chug straight from the can, as this beer warms, it gets absolutely disgusting with this artificial taste. There are far better beers to drink on hot, humid days. This one doesn't even come close; there is no refreshment to something that tastes like sweet chemically shit.

Mouthfeel: Just barely fuller than water. Seriously, do yourself a favor and just get yourself a nice cold glass of water. I'm no fan of water, but at least it's drinkable.

Overall: No good as a beer for hot weather. No good if you don't drink fast and allow it to warm up in *any* weather. This beer really doesn't have any redeeming qualities. Even its lacing that is surprising for the style cannot save it. By the way, as the lacing dries, it also looks pretty weak.

Do yourself a favor and just skip this beer. I will from now on. I'm *pretty* sure now that Labatt Ice is the better ice beer of the two, from what I remember after retrying this. Soon enough though, I will be giving Labatt Ice another shot, and maybe post a review of it... for completeness reasons.

Ah, "ice beers". Always a risky purchase, as they usually just seem to take an already undesirable adjunct lager and merely add more alcohol to it. Luckily though, this was not purchased, and is the latest in the infamous series - Free Beers From Work!

Pours the expected pale straw yellow with a white head that starts at a few fingers, eventually reducing to a thin ring and not much else.

Smells like..just about nothing. There is some pale-ish malts if you sniff hard enough.

Taste luckily brings much more, still not much there but surprisingly not offensive/harsh tasting. Pale+bready malts dominate with a bit of a lemon+herbal feel. A bit solventy but really not bad.

Pretty decent mouthfeel, carbonation is not overpowering and doesn't feel watery. Drinks quite easy considering the style/ABV.

When I think of ice beers, I think of my trip to Montreal 4 years ago, bring clueless about beer and buying all the repulsive ~9% lagers. This one obviously wasn't great but for this style I found it quite drinkable and not really harsh in the least. You can certainly drink worse.

Poured into a pils glass. 24 oz can. Ice beer at 5.6%. Hopefully I function after such a hefty ABV.

3.5 A: Clear pale yellow color. Three fingers of frothy white head. Retention is very good and a decent amount of lacing is left. Not bad here.

2.0 S: Dry graininess with corny sweetness.

1.5 T: Fairly tasteless with the only discernable taste being corn.

2.0 M: Light body. Carbonation is a bit high, but reasonable for the style. Something like chewy, but not quite, and no creaminess.

1.5 D: This is bad by AAL standards. Don't know how I'm gonna finish this.

Appearance - Pours a clear golden color with almost no head at all.. frothy. Has decent lacing.

Smell - Pretty skunky and sweet. Grass and corn. Pretty watery though.

Taste - Caramel and toasted malts. Pretty sweet and a little bready. Mild bitterness at the end..

Mouthfeel - Pretty light in body and then feels creamy when the carbonation kicks in. Pretty high carbonation.

Overall - Just an average beer.

Aroma is sort of sweet, which isn't surprising in an ice beer...some skunk is there as well and a hint of grain.

Beer isn't anything exciting, but I doubt anybody was expecting anything else. Somewhat sweet and malty body, and I'm still noticing some skunk within the taste unfortunately....finishes with grain through the finish. Much like their flagship beer with a little added sweetness along with the increased ABV through how these beers are made.

Simple drinking, nothing to really think about...my guess is not many people are drinking an "ice" beer to be wowed by complexities in the first place.

12oz bottle into a Duvel tulip. It's been a while since I had a punishment beer, so here goes.

A: Clear straw body, one finger of frothy white head. Mediocre retention, light lace. Average.

S: Fairly clean, intense maltiness. Very grainy, crisp, and non-descript. Nothing off, gladly. Just an average adjunct lager.

T: Mild malt, biting corn, and a dry, clean finish. Very, very standard, but at least there's nothing gross going on.

M: Thin, watery, fizzy. Again, perfectly average.

O: Nothing to see here; move along.

12 oz. brown bottle. Fresh to date on label.

A: Pours a crystal clear pale yellow with a fast
forming fast dying white head that creates a
small ring of lacing atop the glass.

S: Sweet malts and corn. Some alcohol. watery.

T/M: Smooth and creamy with no hop bite to
be found. Malts are small and corny. The beer
is on the dry side. Kind of like a less alcoholic
malt liquor.

O: I'm pretty sure there are better Ice Beers
around. This one is almost not worthy at all.
Barely any taste at all.

12oz bottle into a pokal glass. best by date 10/16/11.

a - pours transparent yellow with a finger and a half of rocky, off white foam. tons of streaming bubbles in this glass helping with head retention. leaves some weblike lacing behind.

s - soggy cereal, sweet malt, faint hop character.

t - more sweet malt, just shy of being bready. very mild bitterness in the finish. pretty lacking in flavor overall.

m - lighter side of medium with too much carbonation.

o - not as bad as i was expecting. would never buy this of my own volition, but if somebody offered me one i wouldn't refuse.

Molson Ice has a thin, white, quickly-dissipating head, and a clear, yellow appearance with lots of bubbles streaming up, and no lacing. The aroma is faint, but indistinguishable grains and some hops can be picked up, as well as roastiness and sweetness. Mouthfeel is on the light to medium side, and Molson Ice finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, and dry. Overall, I found this to be an above-average ice-brewed lager. I think it's worth trying.

Better than other "ice" beers that I've had (notably Keystone) over the years. Pretty good at a bbq and if in a bottle won't have that metallic taste which is common with canned beers. Is it still available? I've never seen it here in Texas, last had it while in California.

Somehow, this is better than other Molson products. Not that I drink it, but I used to back in the day. Pours a pale golden-yellow with a fizzy white head that doesn't linger long. Light aroma of sweet malts and corn, some grain. Sweetness mainly in the taste, fading to a bit of what could almost be hop bitterness. Very light bodied and not very drinkable, but a tiny step above other TV ad T&A beers.

Molson Ice poured out like most lagers do. It has a standard yellow color, very clear. With a white head on top. The head fades and leave you with just a glass of yellow liquid. The smell has some of the traditional lager aromas, they're a little funky and had some grassy notes. The taste is of light malts and a little hop bitterness. Nothing to really write home about here, just an average brew.

Poured into a pint glass. It has a very light golden tint thats fairly transparent. Head was about .75" thick and stuck around for the first 2 sips.

The smell was almost non existant but didn't turn you off from it.

Upon tasting you pretty much get what you would expect from the adjunct beers. Slightly watery but not as much as many popular American beers so yay for Canada. Mouthfeel was average as well as the drinkability.

I'd drink it again because I like variety, its easy to drink, its pretty cheap and its readily available.

Bottle poured into a standard pint glass. Pale yellow, some head, very little lacing though the head remains until the end.

Smells like hay. Really.

Doesn't taste too bad. It reminds me of college, but in a good way. Slightly sour, warm despite being cold. Slight hint of alcohol, but not overpowering.

Mouthfeel is what you'd expect. It's just on the wrong side of watery, but swishes to a nice foam. These balance to an average score.

I think this is a pretty drinkable beer. It doesn't taste bad, it's mouthfeel is okay, it's cheap, it doesn't sit heavy, it's strong (5.6 ABV)--I like it!

Edit: I am not changing any scores--what I give is what I give, but I'll note that it's a shame this score is brought down by the sub-par appearance of this beer.

Usual pale, transparent golden with some medium lace.

Scent is strong and corny, but with a crispness somehow. Maybe it's the ample carbonation.

Flavor is as transparent as the appearance.

Basically, a typical adjunct lager -- mild and cheap. Not one I'd voluntarily drink.

one of the last of the night for me, i decided to make it a twofer with the canadian lagers tonight. served cold and poured into a pint glass, consumed on 08/24/2010.

really not a terrible pour as the light golden color comes through very nicely and cleanly. small head of white dances on the top of the glass for a few moments and does leave a decent amount of lacing around the glass.

aroma is mixed grains, lightly sweet malts and a touch of some interesting little earthy notes. definitely more of a profile then what i was expecting for sure. clean, crisp and decent going down it seemed to work for me on several levels.

overall not a bad macro i have to admit, would not mind it again,
