Served in an Augustijn chalice at Local Option.
What became the last beer of my day in the City turned out to be a gift from a guy I believe to be a Bridgeport distributor's rep. Good on ya, boyo! Anyway, this stuff pours a deep black-brown topped by a finger of off-tan foam. The nose is pretty much a blast of coffee, though there may or may not be some mild roasted malts peeking through on minor occasions. The taste shows it's a coffee porter by including some roasted malts and light dark chocolate with the large amount of coffee. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a damn dry finish. Overall, a pretty nice coffee porter, especially if you like your coffee front and center.

A - Pours very dark brown, almost black. 3 fingers of mounded kahki head with impressive staying power. Lacing is thick on the sides of the glass.
S - Chocolate syrup is the first thing that comes to mind. Smoked malts, some vanilla, and hints of coffee.
T - There's the coffee, some roasted malts, slight oxidation, almost has a coffee/sweet&sour mix/tequila flavor, kind of strange. Roasted bitterness and pine on the back end. Aftertaste is a bitter coffee.
M - Firm medium body with sudsy carbonation.
Not bad but not great. It taste like coffee with a splash of tequila which isn't as gross as it sounds. I have a buddy that drinks this stuff almost exclusively and he's not even a coffee drinker. Good to try but not worth seeking out.

Pours a pitch black, with a thin mocha colored head. Smells of fresh ground espresso and dark chocolate. Taste begins with a smoky, woody character, followed by some straight coffee flavors. After that a bit of malt sweetness gets through, and finishes with an earthy, very clean finish. Mouthfeel is the only failing point. It's quite watery, especially considering the ABV. Overall a good beer that I would like to have again.

A: Dark brown with a hint of red; great sudsy head and lacing is okay
S: Some coffee but also lots of sweet chocolate--like chocolate syrup; a bit of a sour weirdness but mostly coffee and chocolate
T: Some coffee and coffee bitterness followed by sweet chocolate and then finally the coffee comes; I wish it was balanced better with other elements but since the beer is a bit thin it doesn't quite finish like you would like; something a bit sour and weird and metallic in the finish
F: A bit thin--though decent feel in the finish
O: An okay coffee porter but not quite as balanced and full bodied as I would like
