This was a very tasty beer for me; hard to pin down why.

An average light yellow colored, an immense thick head forms if quickly poured. The foam compensated for its average appearance. Very limited nose, which for me is a plus. Hops of a light floral character, perhaps slightly green applely. Not citrusy or overly pungent at all, like the Belgians; perhaps a bit on the bitter side. Dry and clear on the palate, with more flavor if held and swished; only light hoppy aftertaste. Very similar to Bud or Mich Lite, yet with slightly more flavor and less hop smell.

Sneakily easy to drink, but the higher alcohol content catches up quickly!

Typical yellow color, slightly brighter perhaps. 1/2" white head, decent retention and lace. Aroma lacking.

The hops here drop heavy for a blonde ale. Nice to see, blonde ales can be quite the vessel for delivering whatever it is you want to stress (hops or coffee for instance). Summer for sure. Nice dry finish, light bodied. Was one of the better beers in Bridgeport's portfolio, surprised they don't make it anymore, seemed like good transition level beer from BMC.

A- pours a bright golden blonde. The head was severely lacking, not quite being one finger thick. Lacing was more or less non existent.
S- Pale malts, lightly hoppy (in an earthy sort of way)
T- Taste is a bit more hoppy than aroma would indicate. Herbal would be the best descriptor. Strong pale malt flavor.
M- relatively full bodied for style. I found that the carbonation died out a little too much by the end.
D- All in all it's a refreshing and delicious beer that could use some tweeking to push it from "decent" to "great."

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine July 2007.

Summertime has become synonymous with Blonde Ales; pretty much every brewery out there whips one up dur- ing the warmer months. At least BridgePort is being truthful and not slapping "Kölsch" on the label.

A very healthy-looking white head is fed by steady streams of carbonation--a few rings of lace drape on the inside of the glass. Clarity is just fine, with shim- mering orange and straw hues. Refreshingly snappy aroma with hints of citrus and fresh-cracked grain. Lively crispness meets a long smoothness in a moderately sized body. Light biscuity grain is fresh with bready undertones. Quick kiss of hops shows just enough bitterness for balance and just enough flavor for character. A hint of yeast from middle to end; clean palate, for the most part. Tasty finish of fresh-milled grain that goes dry quickly.

Haymaker picks up where many other summer seasonals leave off: lots of character and flavor without taking away from balance and drinkability. Pair it with a three-egg omelet with goat cheese and fresh basil.

Poured from the bottle into a snifter a orangish yellow color with a whitish-tan head that dissipated quickly and left no lacing. Smell is grainy with a floral nature and some pine. Taste is grainy and citrusy. Feel is slightly oily with a light carbonation. Overall an average pale ale.

Picked up a sixer while up in Welches, OR in early August for $6.99.

Beer poured a clear golden orange with a nice two fingered white head that is leaving some lacing behind. Nose is cereal grains with very little hop flower behind it. Taste is cereal grains, light hopping, a bit of lemongrass in the back. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, light and refreshing. Drinkability is pretty good. This makes a nice lawnmower beer, nothing too fancy here. Glad to have tried.
