Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.
Appearance: Pours a dark blackish brown with a little bit of ruby red when held to light. Lots of rising bubbles and a good four fingers of light tan head with good retention. Lots of lacing around the glass.
Smell: Tropical citrus hops up front with some hints of grapefuit and pineapple. Also some piney hops. Roasted malt aroma is here but kind of subtle compared to the hops. Light hints of chocolate and coffee along with the caramel.
Taste: A fairly strong taste of hops upfront with some citrus grapefruit, pineapple, and apricot along with some pine resin. Dark roasted malts come in towards the finish with some chocolate and coffee. Roasty flavors linger in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy and oily with a moderately dry finish.
Overall: A good tasting IPA. Could of been a little stronger with the dark roasty elements, but whats there tastes good.

Black beer, looks porter viscosity, mild beige head on the top, 1/3". Aroma was moderately hoppy, grassy, not too aromatic, had the porter like roast coming out as well no doubt obscuring the hop aroma a little bit.
Taste, plenty bitter, at times ashy down on the back mouthfeel, grassy up front. Hops just couldn't get out of the earthy realm and into the fruity one. Another c hopped black ipa. Not bad, not worth talking about much either.
