Style | ABV
Old Ale |  6.40% ABV

Availability: Winter. bottle (306), on-tap (16)

Notes:
Brewed in the style of an English Olde Ale, this ale balances the sweet heady aroma of spruce tips with the clean crisp finish of noble hops. Its malty richness is complemented by the warming sensation of alcohol.

A well done beer with some fun flavors.

A - nice amber color light head.

S - A sweet flowery hop and slight spruce smell. kinda perfumy. It says it's brewed with spruce tips. I have a spruce tree in my yard and if you grab the spruce tips off it when they first bud and are bright green, they are edible and quite nice smelling.

T - malty and kinda sweet. A nice aftertaste some tangy bitterness which might be at least half form the spruce, but I don't know.

M - nice mild carb and coating

D - Good, I could have a couple.

Pours a dullish amber, very small head from a normal pour. Slick lacing and nearly no retention.

Bready, with cinnamon, honey and brown sugar spices, a bit of pine, syrup and noble hops. Sweet and dry.

Bready and grain husks, rather clean with some nuances of simple syrup, cola and maple. Hops keep things clean and dry with a bit of pine and grassy bitterness. Sticky malt but dries rather well. Medium body, average carbonation and well hidden alcohol.

Simple old ale, plenty of spice notes and a grainy malt backbone. Much better than Alaskan's amber as a winter session beer. Not a bad beer, rather middle of the road, interesting to try.
