Richly malty and long on the palate, with just enough hop backing to make this beautiful amber colored "alt" style beer notably well balanced.

Pours mostly clear copper hued amber; great head retention, and good lacing, had had that perfect little dirty white tint.
Nose is pleasantly malt forward lightly toasted and lightly sweet; reminiscent of fruity sweet, dark red fruit red apple skin like, or maybe even cherry.
Taste is a great balance of the aforementioned light little bit of dark fruit; great malt presence, toasted quality shines nicely, little nuttiness on the finish; a very light hop presence, spice like.
Medium-light body; full malt presence, really smooth carbonation; unique soft little bit of low bitterness on the finish, mostly dry finish, highly drinkable beer.

12oz can served in a pint glass. Best by 022424.
Pours a clear amber with a big, maybe three finger head. Head settles slowly, cottony and stiff. Smell is wet grain and nuts, bread, a little wood.
Taste is grain husk and nut shell bitterness, some earthy character, nice bitterness in the aftertaste to offset the bready sweetness.
Mouthfeel is dry and clean. Overall, very good amber, and I can't believe I have never reviewed this in the 15 years I've been on BA.

Used to be one of my favorites. Now I find it way too harsh after waking up multiple nights at 2 AM with a gurgling stomach. No fun jumping outta bed and running to the toilet to unleash a liquid BM. Great taste, just be aware that you may lose a pair of chinos after drinking this…

It pours nice color darker amber really with a compact dense small head. It is up front carmel and a bit black current taste. The feel is pretty decent really quite full for a beer with 5.3 abv. It finishes a nice if but sweet taste and lingers. I find it a wonderful beer that is overlooked and especially in Alaska. Will get it more often in can 6 pack

Pours amber red with nice khaki foamy crown. Sweat and malty, easy drinking good local amber altbier style. Good times in Alaska on cruise.

6/15/23 Stopped at Hungry Buffalo after hiking at Hocking Hills State Park.
Aroma is very malty and light bready... Stoney.
Starts out very malty and then goes bland after that. Not very interesting and had no depth.
Our first from Alaskan Brewing.
