From BeerAdvocate Magazine Volume III, Issue II:
Very black with a thin but sticky tan lace. Mild roasted grain aroma, a hint of sweetness from the oats and fruitiness from the alcohol way back in the nose. Fluffy, crisp, medium body. Lots of soft charred grain flavor that jumps from charcoal to a medium-roast coffee. Hop bitterness is there but never pushes back on the malt too much. Kiss of fruitiness and caramel in the middle. Pleasant roasted, semisweet finish.
A decent Oatmeal Stout, it's a tough style to go up against, as there are so many that surpass known benchmark beers. Regardless, any true Stout lover shouldn't dismiss a chance to try it.

Presentation: 12oz short/snub brown bottle, with a bottled on date.
Appearance: Pitch black beer with a thin creamy tan lace that lasts to the bottom.
Smell: Caramel, toffee, roasted barley, coffee, mild fruity esters, faint sherri, grain and chocolate in the nose.
Taste: A silky smooth/creamy textured and full-bodied robust beer, with a very thick and even malt sweetness. Lots of roasted flavours up-front with a mildly sharp astringency and near sherri-like flavours. Dark chocolate and fruits, light coffee, musty grain and a delicate touch of smoke follow. Hop flavours are hidden in with the bitterness of the roasted barley, however there is a faint touch of citrus & floral flavours underneath that help cut the malt characters. Finishes with some roasted, smoke an chocolate in the aftertaste -- slightly dry.
Notes: Hmm ... a very nice, full and complex stout. The addition of oats also provides a unique fullness to this roasty beer. Most definitely worth a try for you stout lovers out there.

Poors dark black with a thick tan head.
Smells of Malts and coffee.
Taste coffee and a hint of caramel that gives it a little sweet taste.
Average mouthfeel for a stout.
Overall very enjoyable. I would reccomend this to both regular stout drinkers and people who are trying their first.

Black body, thick tan head. No lacing.
Smells like roasted malts and burnt coffee.
Bitter taste. A lot of burnt coffee and malts flavors. Also, a hint of caramel.
Medium mouthfeel, light carbonation.
Overall, it's a pretty decent beer. A little too bitter for me though. I might buy this again. There's definately better options out there.

Poured a thick two fingers of tan head on a black body.
The aroma is great: roasted malt and chocolate.
The taste follows suit but with a mild bitter bite at the end.
The texture is smooth and soft with moderate carbonation.
It hits all the notes for the style with an added extra bitterness.

I picked this one up in Wisconsin, so glad I did.
It pours, black, no light aloud. Tan head that settles to skim and lace.
Aroma of chared dark wood and malts.
Taste is all malt with chocolate, oat, smoke, peat and earth. Slight hop and slight alcohol carry at finish.
The plus it the oat mild mouthfeel. The brew is soft and smooth.
Overall a great stout. I dont bring in a lot of oatmeal stouts, I'm glad I did this one , a personal favorite now.

Pours out mostly black with a 3/4" tan head that has very good retention and good lacing. Pretty. Aroma is like many oatmeal stouts: Smooth, without giving away much in terms of bitter roasting to the nose.
Taste, chewy, smooth, well done. Nothing exciting, but just what it should be, a little chocolate malt, smooth oat silkiness, respectable amounts of two row to provide some heft in the mouthfeel. Dry, not sweet. Hops exist, but are not overstated.
A great selection for someone who wants a no frills, low bitterness stout. Which I often do. Its all oats and grains for the most part. Well rounded. The quality of this beer, paired with its cost, should be a crowd pleaser, to experienced stout drinkers and those going there for the first time.

I bought a six-pack of Alaskan Stout at a local Walmart, oddly enough. Poured into a pint glass.
Pours an black walnut color, opaque, with a modest bubbly tan head.
Smell is a roasted grain and coffee aroma with just a hint of bourbon scent.
Taste is a bitter charcoal flavor up front, with dark cocoa flavor on the finish.
Mouthfeel is good, perhaps a bit thin for the style, but a nice non-cloying brew.
Overall a good stout, especially at Walmart prices. I'll probably have this again.
