500mL bottle? into a stein.
A: Quite hazy, lovely bronze body with a thin but creamy head. Plenty of fine haze, and a bit of carbonation.
S: Clean lager notes, with a really fine, light malt presence and just a bit of oxidation. Some mild hops, but not much. For me, this nose typifies the style.
T: Malty, smooth, and straightforward. Some very mild bittering at the end. Almost honey-like, at times.
M: Pretty chewy body for a lager of this size, but pleasantly so. Moderate alcohol level is completely masked.
O: I've had this beer a number of times on tap, and adore it. One of my favorite all-night drinkers. Waiting to stumble on a bottle to review it, as I don't like to review at bars. This sets the mark for the style.

16.9 oz bottle, no bottled-on date, poured into a pint glass.
A- Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color, produces an inch of creamy off-white head, leaves nice lacing.
S- Nice malty aroma of crackers, honey and caramel, as well as a leafy, herbal noble hop aroma and some sweet fruitiness.
T- A nice blend of noble hops, which have a bitter, herbal leafiness, and honey-sweet malts, which suggest toast, crackers, honey and caramel. Has a very slight fruitiness to it a nice yeastiness in the background.
M- Light to medium bodied, has a very smooth, crisp and dry feel.
O- This is an excellent kellerbier, very tasty and high drinkable as well, definitely give this a shot.

Pours medium copper with an off-white head. No real lace, ok retention.
Malt aroma, with some brown bread and burnt caramel in the nose.
Nice malt, with good balance of burnt sugars and toasted bitterness. Notes of bread crust, mild sugars, and moderate bitterness leading to a cleaner malt finish.
Medium body, good carbonation.
Nice brew. Great balance and drinkability.

Appearance
Burn orange in color. Two finger of white head easily forms, but fades to a white cap.
Aroma
Sweet malt dominates but it's elegant. Candied sugar yeast immediately comes to mind. Honey and caramel malts. Faint note of banana in the back.
Taste
Matches the aroma but is more pronounced. It actually tastes bright while offering up firm flavors of caramel covered apples with some banana and toasted bread. It's not ladened down with heavy flavors. Makes a great fall beer.
Mouthfel
Refreshing and carbonated on the tongue..more so than I thought. Its malt aroma and taste makes you think it should be a little heavier on the tongue, but its not. It goes down very easy.
Really nice. It has that Beautiful malt profile you associate with darker German beers, and yet that great drinkability is still there. I'd been eyeing this one for a while as I love other Mahr's beers. If you like marzens, helles, and Dunkels, definitely give this a shot.

50cl serving in seidel at Mahrs Brau, Bamberg
A - Cloudy amber body with creamy 3 finger white head. Retention/lacing pretty average.
S- Notes of toffee, butterscotch, light vanilla and a hint of green apple
T- Biscuity malt base up front with a hint of green apple coming through again. Faint hop note in the semi dry finish.
M - Medium body/carbonation
D - Tasty stuff. Malt dominant as most franconian lagers but the hint of green apple and drier finish provided a bit of balance. Went well with my Zwiebelrostbraten which i thoroughly recommend trying if at the pub.

500 mL bottle from Luvians, St. Andrews, BB (09.01.13) Pours a nice cap of foam, colour is a really nice amber/copper gold, with an active carbonation and is clear. Leaves respectable lacing and film.
The smell has a pleasant malt character, with a bit of a nutty/cinnamon aspect to it. Yeast is detectable, but mild. Hop character is pretty light. Light, though there's a fair bit of character and overall respectable.
The taste has initial maltiness, with a touch of caramel sweetness. There is a good balance from a complimenting hop bitterness that works quite well, complex and interesting on the palate. Hops are a bit herbal, yeast character is quite present, all together quite a flavourful and intense German lager.
Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, high for the style, carbonation is complimentary, alright drinkability, though aftertaste is bitter and a bit unclean.
I am glad I tried this beer out. It has some good characteristics, and although there are a few flaws, it makes a good case for the character of this style. Worth trying out, and puts other 'lager-styles' to shame in terms of flavour and complexity. Good balance all-round.

On tap at La Fine Mousse, Paris
A- brown, tannish beer with creamy white head
S- grassy, sweet, a bit of bananas, but more straw grassy lager goodness
T- sweet caramel roasty malts with a subtle but present grassy hoppiness
M- lovely creamy head with a very drinkable medium body
O- not too familiar with this style but i thought this was a wonderfully drinkable lager that quenched my thirst really well, which is about all you can ask for from a lager.

Cloudy orange amber. No head and therefore no lace.
Malty sweet aroma.
Sweet but not cloy. Has a modest hop kick. Rich body with a low level of carbonation. Moderate aftertaste of caramelized sugar and alcohol.
Drinks like a thick ale not a lager.
