nice cloudy golden yellow with some depth and substance, bubbles rushing to the surface. thick, chunky head of foam leaving big, spacious lacing. aroma is buttery and lagery at the same time with a huge biscuit breadiness.. more ciabatta than blueberry muffin here.
delicious first sip alive with fruit, red berries.. smooths out into a very light and sweet malt all the while keeping a medium body.. impressive. slightly bitter to round out the experience, with a clean finish that begs for just a tad more lingering flavor, as lagery sourness is the last thing to exit the palate.
still, for what it is, this beer is a staple and a wonderful icon for the category. one of the best german session beers ive had if not the best.

This is a clear and bright, honey-colored beer, and has a bright white, finely carbonated head. The head is just a bit sticky, and has just a bit of staying power, thoguh it's nice while it lasts.
It has an assertive, hoppy nose - grassy and herbal, with lemon and slight apple aromas. There is sulfur and sweet malt underneath.
The first sip shows that herbal hops up front, and a somewhat spicy, perhaps peppery tang. A decent, round malt lies below, giving way to a dry and mildly bitter finish, with a tannic aftertaste. The hops are nicely assertive throughout, carried on a medium to light body and plenty of carbonation. A good pilsner.

The beer pours a hazy pale gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a light pale malt scent with a fruity, breadlike yeast aroma. The taste is decent. It has a smooth pale malt flavor that is light and malty. It goes down easy, but finishes dry and metallic with a slightly tart and fruity yeast taste. The mouthfeel is good. It is a low/medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a good pilsner. If they could lose the metallic aftertaste, this would be one of the best. I love the yeast character; very nice . This beer drinks well.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy, very pale straw-yellow body with a fluffy head that lasts for a few minutes; a bit of lacing down the side of the glass
Smell: Mostly Munich malt, almost Graham craker-like; just a touch of grassy hops in the background
Taste: A bit sweeter than I expected; a lot of malt flavor, with a complement of some hops in the finish; a touch of crisp bitterness to close out
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body with medium carbonation
Drinkability: Refreshing, but could use a better hops profile

Nice heavy bottle. Sampled at 66F, maybe too warm to serve. Foamed up through the neck when I popped the cap. Made a nice head. Smell is hoppy and something I can't place. Little taste in front, but nice mouthfeel and pleasant aftertaste. Tastes clean. Dry in the finish. Color was straw, a little darker than expected and slightly cloudy. Overall, I liked this beer. It was clean and refreshing.

I'm not a huge Pilsner fan, but this was very good. The appearance is very appealing with a slightly opaque lemon yellow appearance. Head dissipated quickly, but left a great lacing. Smell was maltly with a hint of hops. Tast is mainly creamy and malty...I want to try this again in the summer on a hot day....macro brewers take note...this is smooth and drinkable! Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy but light enough to be refreshing. Very drinkable...would defintely try again...especially in the summer.

This was my first time ever having a beer from Mahr's brewery. I was somewhat surprised to see the pils not be bright or brilliant... that is the signature visual mark of most German pils. My beer pour a bit hazy from the bottle.
The aroma was fine, a mixture of spicy hops, caramel malt, and ?cooked spaghetti??
The taste was nice (and hoppy). Very crisp and clean, although perhaps a bit unbalanced in the flavor hop dept.
I really enjoyed the mouthfeel. The beer was medium bodied and seemed to have a nice proportion of Carafoam in it (from Weyermann of course!)
Overall, I definitely think it was drinkable.... it didn't last long in my glass.

Pours a light golden colour with a tight foamy white head. Smell is crisp and hoppy with a bit of malt.. Taste is very crisp malt up front, a bit of metal then some dry floral hoppy finish. An average Pils taste.. Nothing of not. It is good but it just has an average taste drawback. Mouthfeel is good with lovely carbonation and a typical crisp taste. Drinkability-- well It aint the best German Pils I have had, but its not the worst. Its just kinda there.

Appearance This one poured a light yellowish-orange in color. It was very clear with some strong carbonation and a nice white head.
Smell This Pils has a malty slant to its nose, but otherwise everything is right on. The German hops are grassy and light.
Taste The smooth grainy malt is sizable for the style. The light grassy hops from the nose make it righteously to the taste. Theres also an herbal flavor to this bier.
Mouthfeel This is damn near medium-bodied with some good carbonation and a distinctive dryness that lingers throughout the finish.
Drinkability The malts were kind of big for a Pils, but this really was an excellent drinker and one that I will not hesitate to buy again. Another fine bier from Mahrs.

Foam pours out of the bottle upon opening - this one is well carbonated. Slightly hazed (chill haze?) yellow-gold, topped with a two finger creamy white head, the glass ends up entirely covered by webs of lacing.
Nice grass and lemon pilsner aroma, light toast note, earthy, herbal and tea notes.
"Chewy" malty taste, maltier than I'd expect from a pils, plenty of lemon zest and grassy notes.
Light-medium bodied.

Straw colored with a white head that fades to a small blanket of foam atop the beer. Chill haze evident. Pale malty and grassy hop (Hellertauer Hersbrucker) aromas, but pretty subdued. It is swayed a little to the maltier side of a pils. Pretty darn good. I could see drinking a lot of this in a big krug if I ever went to Bamberg. Pretty crisp, refreshing and enjoyable.

On tap at the Moan & Dove, Amherst MA.
Served in a big mug. Pours a pale gold (what Pilsner doesn't?). Ample head that settles down to a gentle lacing.
Very mild aroma of grassy/floral hops on the nose.
Taste is smooth, with a nice medium mouthfeel. Sawgrass & hops gently bite on the palate and are backed off quickly by a sweet malt.
Finish is smooth with only the faintest of aftertastes.
I'm not a big fan of Pilsners in general, but they make great easy-drinkers & session starters. As Pilsners go, this is very nice.

16.9 oz brown bottle. There's place for "Bottled on": but there's no date.
It pours a pale hazy gold with a sizable white head and some lace.
The aromas of floral hops and cut hay are quite pronounced. A light smell of basil-like herbs is noticed in the background.
The malt body is more substantial than it appears. A lightly sweet cookie comes to mind.
The hops have a sharp-edged bitterness to them, but they're not overly potent. This brew has a pleasant herbal quality to it.
It's balanced and very drinkable!

Pale yellow color, with slight haze, adorned with a fine, thick, bone-white head. Nose is soft & sweet, malty, light as a cloud, with distant floral, honey notes.
Clean entry on the tongue, sweet, pleasing and mild. Light body, delicate texture, thoroughly malty, and very, very smooth
Nearly no hops at all, but this is a German pils, and if you want something nice'n'easy, you can't miss here.

Poured a nice straw color with not nearly as much head as expected though not much of one at all, aroma is very bready and malty with a note of wet burlap wich was a little odd to me but not repulsing.Taste was definantly clean and crip with a sweet edge to it finish had a nice herbal hop note that lingers pretty well.A great beer to have sittin on the porch listening to the crickets.

Appearance: Light golden straw tone with a vibrant nice sized white head, leaves streaks of lacing as it dwindles at a moderate rate. Aroma: Great clean biscuit malts and two row barley, clean overall with a dash of Hallertau hops in the finish. Taste: Very clean classic example of a German pils, grassy taste with a slight lemon citrus bite to it hops leave a good bitterness on the palate a great all around go to pilsner. Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied moderate carbonation good stuff. Drinkability: Excellent session brew the type of Pils that could be drank in number and enjoyed the entire time.

Poured from .550 l bottle.
Noticable chill haze (beer served around 55 deg. F). Mininal head passed quickly and left light lacework. Straw color with slightly soft carbonation.
Nose is hoppy, Munich malts notes gradually build as the beer warms. Flavor is moderately complex for the style. Bitter foretaste breaks into a slightly sweet, bready finish. Aftertase is dry with a slight bite.
A bit too subtle to be a truly outstanding and memorable example of the style, but enjoyable and great with lobster or fish.

Enjoyed at Stammtisch AOBF! This bier from a fine Brauerei/Pub in Bamberg poured a clear, rich golden color. Head was white, full and frothy, with great lacing. Nose was grassy and herbal hops; a bit mild but nice. Medium bodied, it was also actually relatively smooth, for a Pils. A touch of biscuity malt (just a touch) was present at the start. Grassy, floral hops take over, with a touch of spiciness thrown in. A very nice example. Zum Wohl!!

Sampled on tap at The Moan and Dove.
This pilsner poured a hazy, yellow gold color with white foam. The smell was malt, biscuit, and fruity hops. The taste was sweetish malt and biscuit with fruity, mildly floral hops. The mouthfeel was smooth and relatively clean. The body was medium with moderate carbonation. This was a great light and refreshing pilsner, perfect for a warm afternoon.

The beer is a hazy golden. Little white head. Nice noble hop aroma. Spicy and a little smoky. Taste has a definite German slant. Bitter and a bit smoky. Good malt base. A bit of complexity in this pilsner. The bit of smokiness really grows on you as you drink it. Makes you want to keep drinking and drinking.....Not an outstanding pilsener, but definitely worth a try for a slightly different twist on the German Style Pilsner.
