After moving from a larger city with great microbrews (Columbus, OH), it was a joy to discover Miami Valley Wine and Spirits. They have a wide range of beers from which to choose and a large walk-in cooler. The beer selection runs the gamut from US microbrews to a wide variety of international beers. The owner runs a weekly Friday night beer tasting, and he will try to obtain any request. The service is top-notch, as is the selection. The owner also keeps customers current with up-coming tasting events in the area. Miami Valley Wine and Spirits is the place to go in the Dayton area for a great selection of beer.

Stop #1 on 8/20 Ohio beer run w/ Barfwin
Looks like your standard, small packaged liquor shop from the outside. After walking in, my first reaction was "(gulp) Where's the beer?". Wine and liquor shelves fill the every visible part of the small store, but a walk-in beer cave quickly calls out. All of the beer offerings (aside from some possible back-room stashes) reside in this walk-in.
Upon entering the beer cave, we were greeted by a stack of Ale Smith cases (Speedway Stout, Old Numbskull, and Doppelbock)-- a sight for sore eyes, as none of these is distributed back home in Indiana. In the middle of the cooler are BMC multi-packs. Around the perimeter are a wide, yet selectively chosen, range of macro, craft, & import sixers and singles. Breweries included Troegs, Stone, Dogfish Head, Weyerbacher, Jolly Pumpkin, Dark Horse, Great Lakes, and most other popular nationally-distributed craft brands.
I was definitely pleased by the variety of offerings relative to the very limited shelf space. One is sure to find something they've never tried here, and it's all cold and ready to be enjoyed. It's not nearly the same type of beer destination as the other stores we hit this day, but certainly is a recommended stop for locals, or those who happen to be driving through the area!

North of Dayton... this might be the best place to get your craft beers. They have a large Uber cold walk in beer cave. No seriously... I can only do about two laps through it then I have to grab something and go.
They have a pretty good mix of beers that you can't get at most of the chain stores, Dogfish Head, Two Brothers, Troegs and others like that. They have a shelf or two of one off bottles, but those tend to be the more pricey beers. I wish they broke down some of their six-packs so I could mix and match various beers. They have a full shelf of British beers, as well as a full shelf of German / Belgian.
They have beer tastings on the first Friday of each month for $10 if I remember right. Value is there since they also bring in pizza, but the tasting seems to lack substance. They don't talk up the beers. You have to walk up to the counter, fighting the crowd, just to get the next beer. Half the time you don't even know what you are drinking. That is something that they need to fix.
I'm not into wine, but my wife is. And every thing the guys in there have recommended... she has loved. So they seem pretty knowledgeable on that front.

I love this store. A clean environment with almost all beers kept in a cooler. Tastings the first Friday every month. Most tastings include 8 or so beers and there will usually be seasonals or beers that are new to the store included. The staff knows their beer, especially Scott. Scott is instantly recognizable and will become a friend just about as fast. If there's a beer you want and Scott can get it in, it'll be there... usually within a week or two. GREAT beer store. Also carries a large win and liquor selection.

I love this place. They have a great selection of crafts. I have seen other stores in the area that have a better selection (not by a ton), but the service here is second to none. Scott really knows his beer and loves to share his knowledge. As mentioned in other reviews they do beer tastings on the first Friday of each month. They also do wine tastings kind of whenever they feel like it. I have not yet been to a wine tasting, but if you are in the area on the first Friday, the beer tasting is a must. I highly recommend Miami Valley Wine and Spirits.

I hit this place up after visiting the Air Force Museum located nearby. I was a little disappointed when I first walked in, since I couldn't find the beers, and there was a ton of wines and liquor all over the place, then I finally saw out of the corner of my eye Bells 2 Hearted in minikegs, so I knew I had to search harder.
Finally I walked into the refrigerator area (beer cave), and found some decent beers. There wasn't very much to choose from when compared to other places, but I found a few I've been looking forward to try: Speedway Stout, Double Dead Guy Ale, and a few others.
The place overall was pretty small and congested. The gentleman working the cash register was nice, and commented on my beer selection. He had a DFH shirt on, so I guess he probably liked micros. The prices weren't too over the top, and I'd probably stop here again if I'm ever back in the area.

This place is pretty well hidden in Tipp, but once you find it you'll find a nice little retailer. From reading previous reviews, the selection seems to have improved recently. There's lots of Bells, AleSmith, Stone, Moylan, Arcadia, and many others. The guy behind the counter seems pretty well versed on beer. Tipp's a friendly little town and there's some nice restaurants in the area as well. Beer is sold at state minimum so the price is reasonable and the staff is helpful and friendly.
Well worth a visit.

I may be a little bias on this because I know the whole staff there and Scott, the beer guy, was the person who introduced me to craft beer. The selection here is great with many seasonal changes. They also have a very large wine and liquor selection. Occasionally they hold beer tastings, but I am not sure if they are on any set schedule. They offer a good selection of 22oz. bottles and are always willing to order any item you seek, if they don;t all ready have it in stock. Overall this is a great place to stop in if you are on the North side of Dayton.

This Miami Valley Wine & Spirits compares very favorably too the Huber Heights location. Much better knowledge amongst the employees. A very decent selection of beers in the walk in cooler with a large amount of bombers too choose from. They have some Stone, Weyerbacher, Great Lakes, Avery, etc. etc.
Their wine selection is also very good and very well organized. Everything in this place is very clean also with a neat Italianesque wine tasting bar. Highly recommended especially for Tipp City and any surrounding area.

This is a nice little store not too far off of Interstate 75 in Tipp. The place is heavy on wine, but the back corner of the store is the "Self Service Beer Cave". All of the beers the store has are located in the beer cave. Inside is a good selection of regionals, such as 4 or 5 from Bell's (including Expedition), 6 or so selections from Great Lakes, and a couple from Thirsty Dog. Also were imports such as Spaten and all 3 Chimay beers. I was also impressed to see bombers of Alesmith, Saison Dupont, and several others. The woman working seemed to be friendly, but I didn't have much time to ask much. Seems to be a good stop, especially in the northern Miami Valley.
