Notes:
Most breweries have at least one piece of equipment that’s just a bit persnickity. Here at Boulevard we have fermenter number seven, the black sheep of our cellar family. Ironically, when our brewers were experimenting with variations on a traditional Belgian-style farmhouse ale, the perfect combination of elements came together in that very vessel. You could call it fate, but they called it Tank 7, and so it is. Beginning with a big surge of fruity aromatics and grapefruit-hoppy notes, the flavor of this complex, straw-colored ale tapers off to a peppery, dry finish.

Sampled at the brewery and had a full pour at their brewpub at the MCI airport. Pours a golden straw with a finger of white head into tulip glass. Nice carbonation.
Nice Belgian yeast and straw aromas...sweet grapey notes. Taste is hopped belgian straw...some sweetness is present. Its an easy drinker and strong...scary combination.
Overall its a really great saison...the aggressive hops really make this more American then Belgian. Also could be a bit drier...but its a solid brew. Id get again for sure.

Appearance: Very similar to Goose Island Matilda. Reddish brown with better tan foam that Matilda.
Smell: Quite herbal and floral. Some orange notes that were a good transition from the previous beer I had (Gumballhead). Falls on the fruity side of the saison scale, as opposed to the yeasty one. Clean, bready finish. Sourdough-like.
Overall Drinkability: A very good American Belgian.

On tap at local bar , 3 dollar pint day so thought I Would have a go
Very yellow colored beer , hazy with small head a little lacing
Smell is very sweet and spicy , not a lot of balance in the aroma , but not bad
Nice mouth full when you take a drink , goes down smooth and silky
Taste is super sweet , the yeast and the spice are there but the super sweet , almost candy type sweetness is way too much for me
Overall I wouldnt try this beer again , it was way to sweet and candy tasting which are not appealing to me

Served on tap at Summit's Wayside Tavern Snellville on September 7, 2012.
(Appearance) Arrives with a thick white foamy head, medium thick clingy lacing. Pale golden amber hazy body color. Nice retention and presentation. 4
(Smell) Hoppy cracker malts, clove, Belgian spices. Nice, surprisingly hoppy aroma. Medium potency. 4
(Taste) Body citrus hops Belgian spice with a subtle caramel sweetness and lemon on the finish. Nicely balanced and a decent amount of complexity. 4
(Mouthfeel) Crisp, perky texture and a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Nice. 3.5
(Overall) I found a lot to love in this beer by Boulevard. Nice clean hoppy IPA flavor with a lot of Clean Belgian qualities. Thumbs up! 4

Served on tap- a treat.
A light golden color with a sizable head.
Cloves and lemon wafted from the head.
The mouth feel was not overdone- although not smooth, which is not common for this style.
The taste was excellent- strong cloves accompanied by lemon as the beer warmed.
Overall an excellent Saison In some ways, I like it better than the Saison Dupont, which is lighter and smoother. The Tank 7 has more clove and lemon character.
Worth drinking regularly- especially on tap.

A - Pours golden with visible carbonation. Foamy white head settles as it rests. Rings of lacing around the galss.
S - Scents of fresh citrus fruits and yeasty bread. Has a scent of spice as well.
T - Flavors of oranges give to a peppery spice. Finish has bitter notes which was surprising.
M - Very drinkable and refreshing feel. Body is lighter than the ABV; a real treat.
O - One of the better domestic saisons out there. As a fan of the style I give this high marks.

On tap at Max's.
The beer pours a solid gold color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is likewise attractive, as I pick up considerable clove, honey, orange citrus, light cherry and some noticeable spice. The flavor profile generally replicates the nose, with the clove clearly dominating. However, the moderate sweetness is balanced nicely by the light hoppy bitterness and underlying spice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a fairly long, spice and clove infursed finish. Alcohol is well integrated into the flavor profile, and drinkability is pretty good.
On tap or out of the bottle, this is an enjoyable beer. Glad to see boulevard beers available here in Baltimore at long last.

They had this on tap at Fiorella's BBQ in KC and it paired well with the sliced meat combo I ordered.
A-Rich cloudy yellow straw color with a persistent creamy half inch head that stuck to the glass.
S- A nice combination of lemon spice from the hops with a fruity yeast aroma in back.
T- Sweet sour lemon and malt up front that gives way to a slightly dry finish with some funky yeast at the tail end.
M- Surprisingly full body for this style, medium plus. Very smooth and even a bit rich. The alcohol is not at all dominant but it sneaks up.
O- My first farmhouse ale on tap and I was impressed. A complex and flavorful yet refreshing ale. The best of this style that I have had so far.

ON tap at Bittercreek, Boise, WA, 2.15.12.
Finger and a half white head, hazy orangish yellow clear body, a few streams of rising bubbles, big lacing. Fairly fruity nose, pears, some lemon and wheat, dry nose and floral hops. Taste is pretty dry mild lemon, light malts, with a bit of dry hay funk on the back end.. Mouthfeel well on the light side of medium, above average effervescence. Really well made, easy drinking at this ABV and rather refreshing. Not quite the character and depth of Boulevard's Saison Brett, but very enjoyable.

Wow. This beer was at our after-golf watering hole, and it just was incredible! Dark, robust, the anti Bud Light. It was pretty amazing watching almost everyone give it a try. The light beer advocates didn't like it, but I thought it was great. The perfect antidote to watered down beer.

Had this on tap at Bitter Creek in Boise. Came in a tulip glass, light in color- wheat with a light amber, decent 1/2" white head that laced the glass. Extremely easy to drink, belgian hops were mild, had a subtle sweetness. I have been drinking alot of Saison style beers lately and this is one of the better ones. I recommend it.

A: Hazy Golden Straw Hue, Passes Most Light, White Head Rings, Great Lacing
S: Pineapple, Pear, Green Apple
T: Pineapple, Nectarine, Bubble Gum, Yeast
M: Decent Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Semi Sweet, Semi Funky
Overall, a really solid yet fruity farmhouse, the tropical fruits really pop but dont overwhelm.

Had on tap at the Boulevard outpost in the KC Airport.
Beer pours a nice bright cloudy yellow color.
The beer smells very sweet and citrusy.
The tastes very bitter on the initial sip and then opens up with some lemon and citrus on the finish.
Mouthfeel was just the right amount of carbonation to give it a little bite.
Overall a very good saison

I had been contemplating buying some Tank 7 for quite some time now so when I was at Uptown Bros. for lunch in downtown Denver and it was on draft I went for it.
A - The beer was served in an oversized wine glass. Pours a hazy golden straw yellow color with a thin finger white head. A lot of carbonation but not a lot of retention, though pleasant lacing.
S - I was rather disappointed with the nose, or lack thereof. I struggled to pick up hints of fruit and almost a creamed corn tone. However, it was not what I was expecting for a Saison/Farmhouse. At all.
T/M - Similar to the nose I found myself underwhelmed with the flavor. It presents a juicy fruit character immediately but seems to be overpowered in the end by high bitterness. The alcohol taste is quite prevelant and distracts from the better and more appealing qualities of fruity crispness and pleasant grainy biscuit flavors. Medium bodied with a lot of carbonation.
O - I was disappointed by this beer and perhaps allowed myself to be swept up with the hype. It was not what I was expecting and left myself wanting more, like it seems most Boulevard beers have for me. Won't likely be back.

Poured on-tap and served in a tulip stem, the beer is a light, bright, slightly hazy, pale yellow coloring, with a steady flow of carbonation bubbling and a dense, small bubbled, frothy white head. Aromas of sweet fruit and a spicy blend, with some clove and allspice in abundance. Bready yeast scents, also. The flavors have a strong roasting to them, with the clove and slightly sour yeast flavors following quickly on the tongue. Sweet berry fruits, and a slight highlight of honey balance the flavors. The aftertaste has a split second of sour, but a good showing of the spice blend. The finish is slow and slick, with a slight linger to it. Very good flavors, and one of the more sessionable Farmhouse brews I've had, despite the higher ABV.

pours a thick straw golden color with a fading lace head into a snifter. would never guess this to be 8%. smells yeasty and fully fruity. taste is robust ripe sweet full flavored fruit. plums, apples, berries, all blooming in the mouth. yeast backbone and a hop presence in the middle. problem with this one is the mouthfeel. way way too heavy and filling for the style, i should be able to session this. as filling as my bbq ribs i ate with this. heavy feeling bust still properly carbonated. i liked it, but as with many of boulevard's beers, there are 50 better alternatives per style.

Appearance - Golden and cloudy, a nice lemony look to it, big fluffy white head.
Smell - Belgian yeast, lemon, a touch of barnyard, grass, some spicy ginger.
Taste - Follows the nose, a nice astringent belgian yeast right up front followed by some delicious lemon zest and grass. Great stuff
Mouthfeel - Middle of the road, crisp.
Overall - A very great saison, nothing that blew my mind but very respectful to the style.

On tap at Atwood's Tavern in Cambridge this past Sunday. Served in a Belgian goblet. Extremely bright yellow color. Lots of carbonation forms a nice bubbly white head. Good amount of lacing. Smell reminded me of a wet field - fresh earth and wet grass. Taste was malty and sweet, with just enough hops on the tip of my tongue to keep the taste buds awake. Mouthfeel was very dry and crisp, and I am a bit surprised to see now that this beer is an 8% ABV brew. Very well hidden. This is a super refreshing beer and it was quite enjoyable on a sunny patio on a warm weekend day.

Served as part of the after-party from the Midwest Brewers Fest. Served on-tap in a pint glass.
Pours a hazy gold hue with a huge, rocky, meringue-like white head that is slow to drop. Leaves thick lacing behind.
Aromas of lemon, pepper spice, yeasty, orange peel, white grapefruit.
Flavors of white grapefruit peel, lemons, pepper spice, that yeasty belgian bite. Alcohol. Finish is medium, with pepper and grapefruit lingering.
Mouthfeel is dry, with a mouth coating light bitterness. A little alcohol warmth. Good level of carbonation.
Overall, an outstanding example of a saison. One of my new favorites.

This Saison ale was served on tap and in a goblet. This beer poured a reddish gold color, and it produced a very nice amount of white head- excellent retention. Above average amount of lacing. The aroma of this ale was full of malted grain, earthy grass, with hits of apricot, and spicy clove. The ale is medium in body and tasted of semi-sour apricot/peach and it gave way to a grainy somewhat dry finish. This is an excellent version of a Saison...btw...this style is rapidly climbing my my personal beer style list... The balance is amazing...wonderful session beer- My new favorite offering from Boulevard.

A: Pours a magnificent looking beer-- golden. 1/2 inch thin white head. Left excellent lacing-- basically coats the side of the glass. Head Stays on top after descension. Slightly hazy.
S: Yeast, hops, and bread in the front-- citrusy in the middle. There is an ever so faint smell of booze in the very back. Its 8.9 ABV, so it should be expected in a lighter summer beer. It gives it a bit of additional spice in the nose added to the edge of the fairly intense hops. Someone babied this beer.
T: Hops, baby! Hops is the first, and its fairly pungent. However, it has a fairly short life on the front of the palate (sweet). The back of the palate has quite a long life span (bitter). I had to eat some food in order to clear the palate it stuck so much. I think this demonstrates some imbalance. Its not off by a long shot, but still...there is some slight imbalance. Which is a shame because the hops are very lively. But it makes the finish overpower the subtle citrusy middle.
M: Bitter is loud and so it has a definite FORTE sort of presence. The citrusy, bready, and yeasty, sweeter taste buds are left feeling cheated in my mouth. Little stimulation. A strength of this beer is its very even carbonation. It’s spot on for a summer seasonal.
Overall: This is a really good beer. Probably one of the better Farmhouse Ale’s in this part of the country. I could see myself drinking two pints (maybe three). What keeps this from being top 2-3 best summer session beers in the Frontier area is its balance. But, all beer nerd stuff aside, I love strong beers. And it kicked my ass. I will seek this one out again for sure. It has a refreshing presence that leaves me feeling cool, refreshed, and very happy (from both alcohol and participation). If you find it, I suggest you giving it a real consideration. Although, I think that IPA, DIPA fans will like it more than anyone. I'm with the consensus so far on this beer. A-.
Hell yeah, Boulevard! m/m/
