Notes:
The classic India Pale Ale is a traveler’s beer, aggressively hopped to withstand the long, hot ocean voyage to the British East Indies. Our Double-Wide I.P.A. also travels well, and is right at home in the most exotic ports of call of the Midwest. While this modern-day prairie schooner may not resemble a graceful sailing sloop, our liberal hopping regimen does make her virtually “twister-proof,” with toffee and caramel notes balancing out the lingering bitterness. Enjoy this beer fresh to best appreciate the complex blending of hop aromas, ranging from minty to citrusy, with subtle hints of pine.

A - deep red, slight haze, giant tan head has to settle down a bit before tasting, leaves lots of sticky gobs hanging from the glass
S - fresh tropical fruits, papaya, mango, pineapple, very "sweet" smelling, as opposed to dank/pine, still quite lush, meshes nicely with the malt sweetness for a very inviting aroma
T - taste is more of that lovely "sweet" hop character, which blends even better with the malt flavour, which now includes some tasty biscuit to round things out. Finish is dry biscuit, and while there is some hop bitterness, it still has that tropical sweetness, alcohol lingers in the background and adds complexity
M - med full body, med carbonation, it's not syrupy, but definitely fuller than the lean west-coast IPAs, very creamy which is actually quite light and airy, some gentle alcohol warmth
D - maybe not a proto-type double IPA, but this is a great beer to drink
Not a lot of bitterness or agressive pine hops, but this is a great example of how variety in beer is a good thing. I brought this beer to a recent tasting, and it was definitely one of the favourites with it's great hop character and tasty malt backbone. There is also a bit of "cool" factor in serving a double IPA from a corked 750ml bottle.
Just checked the website, they refer to the hops as peach, apricot, citrus and lemon, which I'd say are similar to the sweet/tropical notes I sensed. They also list the beer at just 55 IBU, which is wimpy by most double IPA standards, but hey, it works.

A-Clear amber orange, two finger head, leaves some lacing.
S-Malt, caramel, some dirt and grass, not as much hops as I was expecting.
T-Starts malty with caramel, then dirt and grassy hops. Milt citrus hops and mild bitterness.
M-Medium bodied, nicely carbonated and some hop resins.
O-Not as aggressive for a DIPA as I'd like, the bottle was fresh, but it needed some more hops.
