Notes:
Irish Ale, Boulevard’s early spring seasonal beer, is our Midwestern tribute to the legendary red ales of old Ireland. Our recipe combines six kinds of pale and roasted barley malts to provide a rich, toasty flavor and tawny reddish hue.

Poured into a nonick pint glass.
A: Pours a bright and clear ruddy red with a 1+ finger pale brown head. This left good lacing on the side of my glass.
S: Very malty with minimal hop aroma.
T: Quite a punch of hop bite immediately and a little more in the back of my throat. There is also a goodly amount of sweet malt that comes through as carmel and toffee.
M: Very creamy and adequately carbonated.
D: Goes down smoothly but (and I can't believe I am about to say this) maybe a little bit over the top on bittering hops. I would also like a little more on the aroma hops.

A-Translucent ruby amber, two finger off white head with some carbonation.
S-Lots of caramel, molasses, earthy notes, grass and dirt.
T-Rather malty, lots of malt actually. Caramel, dirt and other earthy notes. Some roasted malt burnt notes.
M-Lighter, carbonated, smooth but a tad too lite.
O-A decent Irish Red. Usually not a fan of the style but this one was decent.

Reddish-copper body with a thick, persistently sticky head; plenty of lacing rings clinging to the glass. Sweet, almost spicy, malt aromas greet the nose. Rich malt flavors, a bit biscuit-like; somewhat cola-like, combine with a slight astringency and soothing hop bitterness. Effervescent, medium-light body; clean and dry finish.
A very good and interestingly flavored brew.
