Notes:
Boulevard’s summer seasonal is our interpretation of a classic Belgian witbier. ZŌN (Flemish for “sun”) combines the subtle flavors of coriander and orange peel with other traditional ingredients to create a delightful, refreshing summertime brew.

Poured into a pint glass.

A: About a finger of white bubbly head dissipates rapidly into a body that is swampy and murky. It's a very pale orangish-yellow that to me is not that appealing, though it may be appropriate for the style.

S: I really enjoy the aroma of this beer a lot. It reminds me of a grassy or piney Tripel, though the smell is perhaps, unfortunately simple. Strong but light hops blend well with earthy tones along with some citrus (mostly orange). The coriander is overwhelming, but it is pleasing in a very unsubtle way.

T: The taste pretty much follows the nose. The orange peel comes through a little more, but the coriander is still very strong. Still, this doesn't make the beer taste poorly. It doesn't quite have the charm of simplicity, it's just unsubtle.

M: Appropriately thin and bubbly. It leaves the mouth feeling a little dry when you're done.

D: This isn't a great beer by any means, it's a little too unrefined and too heavy on the coriander. However, the beer tastes good, and is very easy and a great pleasure to drink. Despite its shortcomings, this seasonal will probably become an annual purchase for me.

Trying the ZON for the first time in awhile. I found this in the reduced price bin at Binny's. The beer pours a pee cloudy yellow with almost no head and no lace. The scent carries wisps of spice and lemon citrus. The taste follows the scent fairly closely. Some decent bitterness with good balanced sweet belgium style malt. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its OK....good fro warmer summer months.

Got this in a custom 6-pack from World Market.
Poured from a bottle into a chalice.

A - Hazy yellow, like freshly squeezed lemon juice.

S - A hint of orange, but nothing else.

T - Very light taste, maybe some citrus flavor, but not much.

M - Carbonated and easy to drink with little to no aftertaste.

Summary - Not very good overall. It's really not much of a beer. It's too light and flavorless to be a Witbier. I'm not getting this one again. Glad I didn't get a 6-pack.
