Had on tap at a local restaurant.

A: Very dark black with a creamy white head that sticks around

S: Roasted malt, some chocolate notes

T/M: Roasted malt flavors, chocolaty. Super thick and creamy mouthfeel with a dry finish

D: very sessionable, this is very Guinness-like when on draft. Not really my favorite style, but a very drinkable, solid brew.

Appearance: Obsidian in color, with a moderate tan head, which retains well. Thick, fine-beaded, and unbroken lacing adorns the glass walls.

Aroma: Presents an abundance of roasted dark malt with a little cold coffee.

Taste: The taste begins with lots of roasted barley, soon followed by charcoal. There is a hint of coffee, but the roasted barley and charcoal dominate throughout. There is a slightly chalky or mineral aspect to the taste as well. Finishes with mild, lingering burnt flavors.

Mouth feel: Smooth and full, pleasant, with no carbonation noted.

Drinkability/notes: A rather abstract or "bare metal" stout, with little to distract from the roasted barley.

Presentation: Packaged in a twelve ounce brown glass short bottle with a twist-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.
