Notes:
Boulevard Pale Ale is a smooth, fruity, well-balanced beer with year-round appeal. A variety of caramel malts impart a rich flavor and amber color, while liberal use of whole hops adds zest and aroma. Pale Ale is the first beer we brewed, and continues to be a perennial favorite.

Boulevard Ale: At an airport waiting to depart I opted for the beer lunch. Boulevard was on tap. The body is straw yellow, translucent and very lightly carbonated. The head is pure white, very fine and did not last long. The aroma is subtle, and more fruity than malty. Very smooth drinking, this beer goes down easily. No robust flavor here, just a subtle malt taste and no sense of bitter or hop. I enjoyed this brew, and its easy going nature.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass
A - Nice clear golden color with a perfect 2 finger off white foam. Dissipates into a ring around the rim with a very thin foam later scattered in between. Not a lot of lacing
S - Nice malts, some citrus hops, biscuits, caramel. Good nose that isn't overpowering but its there
T - Delicious. Follows the nose. Malts up front then finishes with a nice citrus hop flavor. Not in your face, but darn near perfect for the style.
M - Very clean, smooth. Strong carbonation produces a crisp finish on it. No aftertaste. Just leaves a tinge of the hops on the back of the tongue. Pleasant!
O - Not sure why this one gets low marks. I guess because its not a hop bomb. Or maybe I'm sentimental. This is one of the very 1st crafts I drank. You know what, its still a darn good beer if you ask me. Really miss not being able to get Boulevard regularly

On Tap, Served in Pint Glass.
A: Caramel Amber color. Nice fluffy, one finger head, with a pretty good amount of carbonation. Could have had more, but nonetheless, ample carb for a medium bodied ale.
S: Malt more than anything, with an earthy slight hop aroma, but more malt than anything.
T: Caramel Malt, with a light hoppy finish. Could definitely use more hops. Off-balanced in my opinion.
M: Borderline sticky, medium-bodied. Would be better with more carbonation, but with how thick it is, I guess it fits the style.
O: I like what Boulevard brings to the table, but I'm not overly impressed with their Pale Ale. The hop/malt balance could use some adjusting, but overall a pretty good beer. Drinkable none-the-less.

Had this on 2010-05-25 in Liberty, MO (from tasting notes)
A - Clear copper with a short head that fades quickly.
S - Caramel and some pine.
T - Toasted malt with a hint of chocolate. There's a decent amount of bitterness. I'll guess ~50 IBUs. The floral hops from the smell aren't as evident in the taste. Some sourness creeps in at the end.
M - Light-medium body and high carbonation give this a creamy feel.
D - Pretty good. Interesting enough to have another but wouldn't seek it out.

Pale golden with a moderate head that leaves behind a bit of lacing. The nose is carmel and citrusy hops in a fairly balanced ratio. Fairly balanced beer- the hop bitterness is countered by a sweet malty finish.
Not a bad pale by any stretch of the imagination, but it is not one of my favorites, either. Very balanced, which can be good or bad depending on your viewpoint. Readily available in chains that don't have many craft offerings, so I end up having it quite a bit.

Appearance: Golden copper bright beer with thin white lace lasting a good while. no bubbles to be seen.
Aroma: Surprising there is not much of anything.
Flavor: No malt at all. As for the hops, moderate hop profile. There isn't much hop bitterness but has a nice floral flavor
Mouthfeel: medium body, average carbonation for a pale. as for balance the malt could have been a little stronger in my opinion
Overall: Although I feel this beer could use a bit more work with the malt, overall I did enjoy this beer. The hop profile was unique.

Had on-tap at Quinton's in Columbia, MO.
Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a one-finger slightly off-white head. The head dissipates into a wispy layer on top leaving light lacing.
Smells of light citrus hops with a good bit of pale malt aromas in the background.
Tastes similar to how it smells. Pale malt flavors up front are joined by light citrus flavors midway through the sip and both flavors carry through to a light bitterness.
Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with moderate carbonation.
Drinkability is good. I didn't have a problem finishing one glass and could have a few of these.
Overall this is nothing to write home about but it remains a solid APA. Worth a shot.

On tap while visiting in KC, when in Rome....
Pours clear orange body with one finger white head, lingering lacing. Faint hops and biscuity malt in the nose, and a pretty nondescript balanced taste, with no assertive hop or malt presence. Fairly drinkable, this may prove to be a good session beer, though lacking in overall taste memorability. Pretty unremarkable, was expecting more.
EDIT- I may have caught a bad or old keg. On tap at Boulevard outpost at KC airport, the taste is quite a bit brighter, with far more noticeable malty sweetness, and a bit more hop presence. Review reflects the latter, and better, experience.

A - Poured a hazy copper color with a big white head that leaves lacing
S - Is mostly of grassy hops
T - The grassy earthy hops really stand out to me
M - This beer has a medium body with high carbonation to it
D - This really isn't a bad beer its just that the hop profile in it just doesn't do it for me

Pours a clear amber color with a thin slightly yellowed head. Decent retention and some spots of "lace".
The aroma is nice. A good citrus hop and pale malt make up the nose.
The taste is good as well. Nice citrus hop profile, with a tiny bitterness. Finishes slightly sweet with some bready malt.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and moderately carbonated.
Drinkability is fairly high. Nice flavors and low alcohol make for good sessioning.

A- Amber color with a very small white head that lasts and leaves good lacing.
S- Hops and bread
T/M- Almost nothing. Very, very subdued cascade (I think) hops and little malty presence at all. No carbonation whatsoever. Like drinking a can of pop that was opened and left in the fridge for a month. I'm guessing that this was a very, very old keg because it just did not seem fresh. I will have to try it again sometime in a bottle that I'm sure is fresh.

A: A nice red-copper color. Bright white head with decent retention.
S: Nice balance between citrus hops and just enough malt. Reminiscent of orange peel and lemon.
T: Great character. Great citrus notes with a light malt coming in at the end, leaving me ready for that next sip.
M: Light to medium, lingering just long enough, but always leaving you ready for more. Finishes nice and clean.
Overall, a solid offering from Boulevard. I'm glad that I was able to get it on tap here in central IL. Should be a staple in bars. Not the best Pale Ale I've had, but a solid offering and definitely worth trying if you can get it.

Light amber with medium head that quickly dissipates. Very little lacing.
Smells of dough, lemons and herbs.
Tastes of lemon, bread, pepper and spices, hops at the finish show through.
Easy to drink, not the best APA, but about the best the bar had to offer.

I've been drinking Sierra Nevada Pale Ale for a while and always thought it was among the best America Pales. This one is better, I think.
Orange, amber in color with white head. Smell is lush, surpisingly malty with orange accents. It's also quite full-bodied, with more malt than the Sierra Nevada and a nice hop balance. Finish is very dry, making the beer utterly drinkable. I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I think it is now my go-to Pale Ale.

I had this on tap as I downed a dozen hot wings, and it was a nice accompaniment. It's a good-looking beer, a nice light orange body with a finger of white froth. Not much to the smell though, other than hops and the faint whiff of citrus. The taste is better than the nose, full of hops, some orange and perhaps grapefruit. This offset the spiciness of the wings nicely.
Not the best pale ale I've had, but not bad, either. Worth a shot.

I had this beer after the Goose Island 312. Drank this with my Pulled Pork sandwich with Honey BBQ sauce at BW3 in Savoy. The beer was an amber color with a good head and lacing.
The hops were evident from the first smell and continued to dominate in the taste. This gave the brew an enjoyable bitter taste.
Worked well with the sandwich and I would definitely revisit this beer in the future. Too bad this was my second beer and I had to leave.

On tap, Boulevard's pale ale pours a clear golden amber. Head retains better than the bottle, kept a nice white cap throughout. Nice cascading lace.
The aroma is mostly clean, a little pepper overtone to floral, pungent-enough hopping.
Pale malt, slightly sweet but no tannins. Good balance, nice hopping that's not too aggressive but still offers good depth of flavor. Enjoyable if somewhat ersatz APA.

Had this on tap at a local joint last night. Nice copper body, medium white head, that left pretty quick. Nice lacing. Smell of a hint of hops, and fruit. Taste of citrus, decent hops. Finishes nicely. Very easy to drink, really decent craft beer. I bought one for a frien who isn't a BA at all, and he enjoyed it.

this was the ubiquitous local beer on my recent trip to kc, and it was everywhere i went, which was a good thing as my only other choices would have been macro. had to pretty much drink this all weekend. by the time i got back home i was dying for an alpha king...now there's a fucking pale ale. this is a clear straw in color with a tinge of orange. head was not impressive. very subtle nose, got a bit of biscuity malt. very light sweetness and not much in the way of hop bitterness...at least the balance is on. light, spritzy mouthfeel. a mediocre offering for a craft brewery...the beer scene in this cow town just ain't that great.

A: Thin, almost negligible head. Minimal lacing. Clear, light copper body.
S: Nice, but light aroma. Fruity & floral hops present. I wish it was stronger.
T: Tastes of bread & caramel well balanced by fruity hops. I wish it was stronger.
M: Lively carbonation. Medium body. Smooth (despite the high carbonation) with a clean finish.
D: It disappeared dangerously quickly. If not for the long drive, I'd have put away several more.

A - Orangish and not as hazy as the bottled version. Thin cap of a head that doesn't last very long. Tons of ring-like lace on the glass.
S - Citrus and floral hops. Nice sweet and acidic nose.
T - Biscuity malts support mandarin orange hop flavors. NOt outstanding, but a really nice average but hoppy pale ale.
M - Medium bodied, very thirst quenching, acidic, solid malts.
D - Excellent. Very quaffable. I like it better in the bottle however.

Poured into a shaker at the Boulevard Brewpub - KC Airport. The beer had a light tawny body, with a thin but persistent glass ring, but unfortunately had weak lacing. The nose was filled with nice earthy, citric, and pine hp notes, which, along with the sweetness, helped the beer to smell English. The taste was very malty, with the same hop profile as the nose. Simply had great balance and flavor. The mouth was thin, but appreciated, with light and smooth carbonation. An excellent pale ale.

This was served with a light, off-white head that quickly dissipated, disappointingly. There was intense clarity and brightness in this deep gold colored beer. The nose had a light hoppiness with a pleasant, underlying sweetness. There was a good mix of hops and malt in the mouth with a refreshing, dry finish.

Beautiful orangish amber color with a foamy white color head that lasts for a while and leaves a nice layer of lacing around the glass.
Smell is of floral and citrus hops and a faint smell of sweet malt.
Taste is a slight sweetness initially then fades quickly to citrus hops. Very refreshing on this warm day after a hard days work.
Mouthfeel is very clean and refreshing.
Great brew that I can and do drink often. I feel this beer is very underated.

Boulevard's Pale Ale is an attractive copper color with a head of average height. Aroma starts mildly sweet, then rolls to citrussy hop smells. Smell is enjoyable, but nothing special. Flavor is nicely balanced. Hop flavor is a combination of piney and citrussy, with more of a rounded flavor as opposed to a bitter sharp taste. A sweet, biscuity malt backs up the hops nicely. Drinkability is very good. Overall, a very solid APA, but nothing to write home about.
