I've been here a number of times since I moved to Mass in 1999. Although I have not been to the bar, spectacular private parties for various occasions are always held in the back room . Lagunitas sponsored a party here during the Craft Brewer's Convention this month. Great beer, good food, and a great bluegrass band. Brickskeller East.

Been here numerous times. This place is near the Verizon Center, so can get pretty busy on game nights, especially on the weekends. The place is essentially a hybrid craft beer bar, weekend hangout, and pub.

The place on the evening that influences this review the most was a game night (though during the game on a weekday). It wasn't overly crowded, but the bar was full (about 20 seats at two sections of the front bar). We didn't have trouble getting the bartender's attention, though we have been there where that is more of an issue. It was overly dark in the bar area, to me, but oh well.

The place had a nice variety of beers on their 30 or so taps. There are local, national, and well respected out of town beers. Every major and a few other styles were represented on tap. The bottle list is quite large, as well. It doesn't have the rarity in options of a Churchkey, and sticks more to core styles, but a body should be able to find a beer to drink without much effort.

The restaurant serves American bar cuisine, for the most part - sort of like an American pub. The main seating area is more utilitarian - indicating that this hybrid is more of a bar than a restaurant (though they likely do decent food business on game nights).

Our recent stops have included bar area and restaurant seating. The two experiences balanced out to the score I gave. Depending on the timing of your visit, I could see lower scores (i.e. on a busier night then we most recently had).

Place probably gets busy on the weekends and game nights, kind of quiet on a Tuesday. Nice selection of cans and taps. Beer centric, pub grub. Lots of local brews

Close to the Verizon Center so this place has very high traffic, especially before, during and after a game. It can be a show in my opinion. A big beer list does not always translate into a great or even good list. A nice variety but the same variety on a small list at a nicer place can be found within four or five blocks of this place. More of a get drunk and pick up place.

Went to RFD after visiting DC Chophouse on a Friday night around 10pm and scored 4 seats at the bar. It was actually kind of dead. However, I was able to get Hopslam and DirtWolf so I was pleased. Prices were fine, especially for being so close to the Verizon Center.

Average place with a friendly staff. The go-to place before Caps games as it is large and accommodating while being one block from the Verizon Center. Usually have decent specials and an above average beer selection for a bar of this style.

After a Caps game or on a Friday/Saturday night this place is packed with the bar being 2-4 deep.

I visited on a Sat night during the early dinner hours prior to a home Capitals game. There were a fair number of hockey and college football fans, about 2-3 deep at the bar. I met a friend there for an early dinner.

Food was fairly pedestrian with some (unfortunately) cold vegetarian nachos to start. The burgers were hot with good fries.

THe beer quality was excellent, especially the happy hour specials of $4 Two Hearted and Bells Brown. The tap selection was pretty good but really not all that special -- a lot of grocery store beers, although I was able to given Otter Creek Kind Rider Rye IPA a try. Not anything too out there though.

Service was very attentive and quite good, although things were not too busy at 6-8pm as it was in the midst of the Capitals game. Our server was inobtrusive, there everytime we needed him, and pretty knowledgeable about the beer list.

Prices off the happy hour menu were not bad at all, regular pints were $6-7 for the most part. Food prices were pretty reasonable -- I think burgers were $9-10.

RFD is a no-nonsense bar with a pretty good selection of taps and bottles and pub food. Decent but nothing too earth-shaking. Solid.

I've visited this place on two different occasions and have been impressed both times. The food is decent as are the prices, but the beer selection is amazing! Last time I was there I had both Delirium Tremens and Firestone Walker Parabola on tap. The beer list is updated almost on a daily basis and is one of the most extensive I've seen. If you find yourself in the DC area, it's definitely worth checking out RFD. You'll surely find something worth drinking.

I think lots of peeps underestimate this joint on here. The previous reviews on here are, to my mind, totally irrelevant.

Atmosphere: Located in prime real estate right outside the Verizon Center, the place where I took my wife (of 5 years) on our very first date. I really dig the glass wall they have in the back, and it just screams, "Come drink great beer!"

Quality and selection: They have great beer here. Lots of great brews + cask entries. Additionally, I've been to a few really cool craft beer events here.

Food: Fine, serviceable. I had a really great sandwich here... enough said.

Value: This is DC and everything is more expensive. I think this place stacks up fine in the whole scheme of things.
