Mangia Italiano is a hip Italian place that takes up a double storefront along Grand in the Tower Grove neighborhood. They only list 7 taps on the menu, but in reality have about that amount on each side of the bar- 3 Schlafly, 3 New Belgium (including a Lips of Faith), Guinness, Smithwicks, and a few others. The bottle list is split into domestics and imports, and along with the standards, there are a few nice surprises. The atmosphere is ’hipster Italian’, the food is very good, the bar is big for the space, and the patrons are a mixed bunch. You’ll feel comfortable here no matter what you’re wearing. Basically, most Italian restaurants have bad/no beer lists, so if you want both good Italian food and a decent beer, come here.

Mangia Italiano is a restaurant located on Grand Ave on the southwest side of the city. There is metered parking on the surrounding streets as well as a small metered parking lot next to the place.
There is a small patio out front, and the inside is divided into two sections. The bar is split in half by a wall (one side is smoking the other non) and has taps on either side. Table seating takes up the rest of the space. The atmosphere is a lot of red hues and wood, with an interesting graffiti-inspired decor. Large chalkboards show the beers and live music that is scheduled.
The beer list is pretty good. There are around 12 beers on tap from the likes of New Belgium, Schlafly and others. There are also around 25 different bottles from brewers like Anchor, North Coast and New Belgium domestically. As for imports I saw Unibroue, Eggenberg Samichlaus, Delirium and a few of the usuals.
Service was good on a weekday early lunch. The bartender was happy to chat about the beers they had available and was kind enough to loan me a dollar in change as I had no cash for the meters.
I tried the lunch buffet and it was more or less average. Salad, pizza and pasta/meatballs were not bad and not great.
Overall this is a nice little restaurant in a nice little part of the city.

Stopped by for a early valentines with the wife.
I was suprised to see that there was an actual beer menu that was seperate from the wine menu.
Lots of good beers available, which go well the exceptional italian food available here. I had the lasagna, it was good, but it was so hot that I had to wait for it to cool so I wouldn't burn myself.
The wife had a seafood risotto and it turned out very well. Would have been better with some provel cheese melted on top.
A great place to go and just hang out as well. Free wi-fi allows you to drink and review at the same time!

I really like this place, excellent food (which means something in St. Louis, we have no shortage of top-notch Italian places), great service, good prices and enough good beer to keep a beer geeks happy.
They've got somewhere between 25-30 beers, 7 or 8 on tap and all but three of those are Micros or imports. Beers are kept a little too cold, but that helps keep em fresh, so I can deal with that. Everything seemed fresh and there were plenty of choices available for pairing with dinner.
Atmosphere is great on weeknights, when it's not too crowded. On weekends, it can get a bit crazy and smoky.
All in all a real nice place.

Went here for the *farewell to Falstaff* party. Mouth dropped when I saw the beers check their website for a complete beer listing that is pretty impressive for a pub in AB's backyard (only a couple macros in bottles). Small bar and eating area, but very clean and the people are extremely friendly - very casual and comfortable. Bar could sit around 12, eating area for perhaps 30. Outside sitting at 4 tables also an option. Note: Dave the bartender said they worked to improve it within the last 2 years, so it may be a little nicer than when the first two reviews were made in 2003.
Average to somewhat pricey for beer (pints start at $4, up to $7 for the Belgium bottles. Pizza was $8 for a dinner plate size pie thin crust and well prepared.
This one made my to-do list, I will return with the wife-zilla and friends for dinner and drinks.

Thankyou maxpower, for the review on Mangia Italian. I love Italian food but combined with beer Wow. I travel through St. Louis once a year and usually just push on to Kansas City, but this time I stopped and had lunch and dinner. For lunch I had the Isabella pizza and the Schlafly pale ale. I have never been a big fan of Schlafly beers but it was very good, maybe the food and atmosphere.
For dinner I tried the Delirium Tremens beer, this was my first time and it was a little sweet for the Lasagna.I had two of these, I did not know about the high abv..
Mangia has around 30 beers and 7 on tap. The food was great as was the service and atmosphere, I will be back again.

Eat Italian is a great place for Italian food, the beer list is not bad either, they have a good selection of bottles and on brews on tap, last time there I was surprised to have Delirium Tremens on tap (also had a bottle of Hercule Stout for dessert). The restaurant is small yet has a great atmosphere, not really family friendly, I have yet to see anyone under 21. The food is always awesome, a great place to hangout and down a few, I have never been disappointed, parking can be a challenge sometimes in the small lot or on the street.
