This is my favorite place to explore for new and exciting beers. They have an excellent selection and a staff that really knows their stuff. I once had a gentleman walk me through the Belgians and explain which ones he recommended and why. He had tried most of them as the employees are encouraged to do.
The place is very clean and well organized. It's never too busy and I've never found anything that's expired or past-prime. It really is a destination liqour store. We just happen to be lucky enough to have it nearby.

Truly a stupendous store, in every way. The manager is willing to talk beer with you, and the beer-side guys know what they're talking about. (However, the rest of the staff don't know beer, because Wilbur's primary focus is wine.) Prices are very reasonable. Here are some examples:
Ayinger Celebrator 12 ounce: $2.99
Weihenstephaner Korbinian, 500ml: $2.99
Mixed 12-ounce sixers of good quality craft beers and imports: $7.49
Sixers of most Colorado craft beers : $5.99 to $6.99
750's of St. Bernie Abt 12, Chimay, and other similar Belgians: $8.99 to $9.99
They have 12-packs of many of the common European imports, and they stock seasonals. There is also a rare beers section that changes from time to time. I asked them about Westvletern and Three Floyds -- said they can't get them yet in Colorado.
They have every Colorado beer that exists for sale.
They have probably 200 German imports, and dozens of UK. They also carry Ommegang, I recently discovered! The only place in N Colorado that competes is Liquor Max in Loveland.
Update, February, 2006: Wilburs just keeps getting better. Jeff, on the beer side, has an excellent working knowledge of the several hundred beers they stock. His goal is to have every beer available that is legal for retail in Colorado. If he doesn't have it, you can't get it in this state. They have surpassed Liquor Max. Jeff even keeps back select six-packs of cellarable seasonals. To get 'em, you have to ask for 'em by name, but he's definitely out to please. This place is phenomenal and HUGE!

First off, I'd like to say that I love their new location and the building itself is awesome. :^)
With that out of the way, I'd like to say the beer selection is Fantastic! You have your Stones, Rogues, Dogfish Heads, Bridgeports, Ommegangs, Allagash, and tons of other US microbrews and that's not even counting the Colorado goodies like Avery, Great Divide, Oskar Blues, Bristol, Ft. Collins, Breckenridge, Ska, Steamworks, to name just a few.
And the import section is just as impressive. Many beers from Belgium, Germany, UK, and other countries grace the coolers and facing counters.
With all that going for them, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how friendly the staff were. I saw nothing but smiles and they made me feel special...gotta love that!!
Bottom line: For me to go to Wilbur's takes a little over 3 hours(that's ~230 miles one way) so can bet your bottom buttoned dollar that if I wasn't impressed with what they offer, both in product and service, I'd find some other place to spend my hard earned dollars. Kudos to Wilbur's for making THIS customer very happy!

I had the opportunity to visit Wilbur's while in Fort Collins this past week. The "new" location on the 2200 block of College behind Whole Foods Market. Beer is located along the north wall, with cooler after cooler of bombers, 750s, six packs, as well as singles available to "Make your own six-pack."
The coolers include as broad a selection of Colorado brews as I have seen in my travels to Denver/Boulder/Fort Collins/Loveland. There are signs pointing out limited releases. Other craft brews from across the country are represented by broad and diverse selections from their product lines (e.g., numerous DFHs, not just the one or two varieties I've seen in other shops) It is a pleasure to walk past door after door after door of craft beers before running into the obligatory BMC products that indicate it's time to turn back the other direction.
Opposite the coolers are shelves of Belgians, imports and domestics in sixes and singles, magnums.
Kudos to Jeff, who not only immediately produced a Belgian I asked about, but also eyeballed my cart and suggested some different IPAs, porters and impy stouts to consider. He then pointed out some limited releases worth trying, since he knew I had driven a considerable distance, wouldn't be back for a while, and therefore might not ever get the chance to see them again. The man know's his beer.
Wilbur's is obviously making the effort to be a premier player in the region.
Worth the trip!

This place is heaven. A beer wall that goes on and on, the folks working there can help you find something, give recommendations or just talk beer for a while. I have been able to find 99.9% of the beers I'm looking for here; World Wide Stout, Old Crustacean, Thomas Hardy's, massive imported selection...these guys got EVERYTHING! If you're in/going to Fort Collins, check Wilbur's out and buy a few bottles you can't find any where else!
*If you can't it it at Wilbur's, head down south fifteen minutes in Loveland and check out Liquor Warehouse on 34. Together, there is nary a beer you won't be able to buy! Prost!

A huge store with a huge selection of quality micro and craft brews. I found what I was looking for with the help of a friendly worker and more. Very knowledgable staff. I was looking for Firestone Walker's Parabola. I was told it would be there from the night before when I attended the Firestone Walker party downtown. It was there. I also asked for Pliny the Elder on a whim and low and behold they had it as well. They had a two bottle limit and that is what I got. I bought those two and a bottle of New Belgium's Le Folie. Quite a score. There was much, much more I just didn't have the money for. At the checkout I got into a long conversation about local beer, and hard to find stuff and where I could find it. Awesome store. Huge store, well lit, cool, and with knowledeable and friendly workers. Highly recommend.

This is a retro-review from last summer. Stopped by while visiting the local breweries with amateurbeerguy. I remember walking in with much anticipation and saying great googly-moogly! Wilbur's has lots of cooler space dedicated to Colorado micro's, as well as a singles section for building your own sixer. There's also plenty of well-maintained imports. I scored some excellent bottles of De Proef & Fantome. Glasses are also available, so be sure to p/u the right drinking vessel for your beer on the way to the checkout. Be certain to ask for Jeff "The BeerGuy" if he's available because he helped us with some excellent selections and discouraged us from others based upon his first hand tasting experiences. Also worth noting is the Wilbur's Total Beverage Rewards Club card which offers additional discounts on specially tagged items. Prices at Wilbur's are generally reasonable, but out-of-towners note that you'll pay an extra 3% in city taxes on top of state tax.

What more can be said of Wilbur's? This is the first place I was able to get a beer from pretty much any brewery you name. Apparently their beer cooler is larger than most, if not all liquor stores (total store) in the state! Then they have their room temp beers that is an entirely different level. The wine, and spirits selection are second to none. Great knowledgeable staff too

This place was fairly well organized and laid out in a consumer friendly-manner
The quality of all beers tried were good to great
The one staff member I had contact with was friendly & wildly enthusiastic about craft beer
Selection was even better than Liqourmax. I wish I had better prepared myself I left a few Russian River & lost abbey brews behind, because I THOUGHT I had already tried them, ugh. Could spent hundreds in here, but was flying out the next day. There was a big selection of hometown brews to try. Loved the wide range of beers on offer, this compared favourably to any beer store I've been in Colorado
Prices seemed reasonable

It's spelled Wilbur's. And now it's called Wilbur's Total Beverage. Great selection for the area. Fantastic. I've not been to Supermarket liqours, or Pringles for ages, but they won't be better then Wilbur's. I was a little confused by the layout, but that's a minor criticism. Service was adequate. It's a large place so you're not always going to get an expert, and I didn't. But they asked, they looked, and they looked up on the old computer for everything I wanted. Definitely the place to go with a list. Big supermarket style liquor store with something to please everyone. I got two versions of Ettienne Dupont cider I'm psyched about. I had my 4 and 8 year old with me playing Nascar with the grocery trolley so I only scratched the surface of what's all hidden in the large beer area. Quite fun, and entertaining.
