Had an awesome time! Live about 1 hour and 20 minutes away and went both saturday and sunday. The tours were filled up on saturday so we went back sunday. The tour is followed up by a tasting ( which you can do without doing the tour as well) I reccomend the tour which is free and the tasting is only 3$, so about a 30 minute tour followed up by a delicious tasting for 3$ and keep the glass afterwards is totally worth it. They put out pretzels as well with dips with some of their beer in them as ingredients, lets just say we picked up a few in the gift shop. The bar is nice I heard the food is really good we just got the meat and cheese board which was good. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable! Overall it was a awesome place and for me a 1 hour and 20 minute ride, i'll be back next weekend!

I've been to ommegang brewery twice before before the cafe opened, so this was my first time eating there. First off, the food prices are very reasonable. A plate of pei mussels for $10 I thought was a good deal no matter where you go. I felt his way before ordering and after receiving our food, my opinion was only solidified. A heaping pile of mussels that could rival anywhere else. The frites and the dipping sauces were amazing. My wife had the seafood chowder and a friend had chicken and waffles. Both were excellent. They had a full a ray of their beers on tap along with with other beers from Belgium. Those same beers were available in the gift shop. This was a great experience for us and look forward to going back, wished it was closer.

This place is beautiful, both inside and out, but of course it starts outside. The impression is instilled that this brewery is a little bit more grandiose than most around as soon as the looming arch with the brewery's name and bookended on the left by "1549" and the right by "1997," decorated in the Winter with holly and a beautiful wreath. The huge fermenting tanks and the barns are something to marvel at between the walk from the parking lot. The entrance is to the gift shop, or so I think of it, which then leads to the restaurant through a door and a tasting room/bar on the back side near where the building is entered. The restaurant is also beautiful, mostly modern but with some older or antique edges to it and a chalkboard stating the drafts on the left wall. Seating is plentiful in a wide-open space, where tables are ready for small or large groups. The service is good and servers are extremely knowledgeable. They're also friendly, not too chatty but very willing to chat about the beer or food, and quick to the table. Along with the taps, they also serve bottles. The food is also some of the best I've eaten at a brewery, the frites served with a choice of several outstanding aiolis, that sort of thing. The quality of the beers they serve is only top-notch. I really can't say too much good about this place. It's the one place I absolutely have to go to when I visit my family in upstate NY.

I went here for Belgium comes to Cooperstown, and it was by far one of if not the best beer fest i have been to! I thought the prices were a little on the higher end but i was very satisfied with their beer. They had lots of great beers and the staff is very knowledgeable. This has now become must go when ever i am in the area.

I traveled to Cooperstown this last week for a tour, and afterwards stopped by the Cafe Ommegang for lunch. The cafe seems to be fairly new, and is decorated beautifully. Very colorful, w/ the reminder that you're in a brewery that's owned by Duvel. The service i had was fantastic. Advice when I wanted it, and very attentive while I was there. The selection of food and beer was really good of course. The menu generally features Belgian style faire, and my meal/dessert was amazing. In addition to Ommegang's brews, there are several from Belgium/Duvel as well. Duvel on draft of course. Prices were also pretty reasonable for what you got. I was extremely happy w/ my visit to the Cafe, and have been raving about it to anyone who will listen ever since.

Café Ommegang at the Ommegang Brewery outside of Cooperstown is worth a side trip in and of itself, even aside from the brewery. It's in the visitor's center / tasting room / brewery shop complex behind the brewery, and man is it good.
The atmosphere at Café Ommegang is good: the lighting is comfortable, the tables and chairs are nice, the decorations are interesting and whatnot, and it's a decent-sized space. It felt a little cold and empty when I was there, but I could imagine the place being excellent when traffic picks up a bit. Also, service at the café was excellent. The hostess was friendly and helpful, and the waiter was very helpful, as well. Great service, actually.
As may be expected at a place like the Café Ommegang, the selection was good, but not "excellent," per se. They had a number of fantastic taps and bottles, but of course it was all Ommegang, Duvel, Maredsous, Liefmann's, Brasserie d'Achouffe and De Konnick. Not exactly the place you'd go for a Miller Lite, or a Lagunitas on tap for that matter, either. If you're there, you're expecting good Belgian beer–probably connected to the Duvel family–and that's exactly what you get. On that note, that's exactly what they've got, and lots of it. I think they had 8 taps there, including the standard Ommegang line-up (plus Aphrodite!) plus Duvel "classic" and "Green," and one or two Liefmann's on tap, as well. Everything else they've got in bottles, but they've got plenty of it! The quality of the beer there is unreal. So, so good, and fresh as can be. Definitely the place to go if you're looking for any of the above-mentioned Belgian beers, and since Ommegang and the Duvel family are so wide-ranging in terms of style and taste, they've got plenty for just about everyone.
This is all well and good, but the food absolutely cannot be overlooked! The food is excellent, and they do have a number of vegetarian options (though, sadly, gluten free and vegan options are hard to find). They've got traditional Belgian food (check out the Ommegang website for a pdf of the menu there), plus meat and cheese plates, and desserts. Waffles and crepes, both sweet and savory, top-notch cheeses with a variety of tasting accompaniments on the side (like honeycomb, gherkins pickled radishes to accompany an aged goat cheese I had there), wonderful soups and stew, and inventive desserts like their fried crepe sundae with Three Philosophers ice cream and chocolate sauce. I mean, honestly.
And finally, the value is reasonable, I'd say. You can spend a few dollars, definitely, but what you're getting is fantastic: both the beer and food you're receiving–via excellent service, I might add–will leave you satisfied and wondering when you can get back. I'm still drooling over that cheese plate and the tomato bisque I had with my Houblon Chouffe. So yeah, the value is really quite good, when you consider what you're getting for your money.
In short, Café Ommegang is great. It's a great value for what they've got there, and they really aren't skimping anywhere. I personally can't wait to go back, and enjoyed it at least as much as the brewery tour (which I've done four times now, I believe) and the gift shop (which has grown, and is definitely the cheapest (and freshest) place to get Ommegang and Duvel family products). Go to Café Ommegang, plan on having at least one meal, and enjoy yourself!

First trip to a brewery, so my opinion may be skewed.
$3 Beer tasting was pretty awesome. Got to try the 6 different beers paired with snacks produced locally. Free tour was pretty neat as well.
After that, my buddy and I had a meat and cheese platter with a few beers. It was reasonably priced with some unique pairings. The waitress was also pretty good at coming over when our beers were low.
Overall, I'd say it was a pretty good experience.

I visited a friend in NY during the summer of 2013, and we made the drive up here to visit.
The Atmosphere is beautiful. Unlike most breweries that reside in industrial parks, this brewery is set in the middle of beautiful countryside all by itself. The brewery and it's surrounding area is awesome.
The Quality was great. They serve fantastic beers here.
The Service was perfect. The waitstaff was really friendly, knowledgeable about their beer, and they frequented our table just in time to re-fill our glasses. Top-notch.
The Selection was very good. They offered 1-2 Duvel beers, numerous Ommegang beers, and also a couple from Liefmans. They offered a couple summer-oriented beers that were delicious. I was also able to purchase some beer to go along with a shirt as they had a nice selection of both beer and swag to take with.
They served food that looked great, but we had eaten shortly before stopping. Next time I'd like to eat here.
I greatly enjoyed my visit here, and if I'm ever in the area again, I'll make sure to stop by.

Brewery Ommegang rocks! Highly recommend the Bed and Brew package at Inn at Cooperstown. My wife and I are here now and having a great time.
The brewery is in a great location well off the beaten path. As usual, the beers are great, and the setting is one to appreciate.

Wow the food was so good at the cafe and to pair it with Ommegang beer is awesome. The menu is very Belgian inspired with Mussels and Frites, Cheese Plate, and other beer cooked food items. Really clean and sharp looking inside, big bar, high def tv, and long tables. I would make this place a destination for the combination of good food and good beer. I think they have 6 or so beers on tap and a guest beer or 2 in the mix. I wish I lived closer to Ommegang because I could see this place becoming my fave local bar.
