an outstanding blonde ale. the flavor was very balanced and the mouthfeel was excellent. the beer poured with a two inch head and plenty of lacing. the flavor was very citrusy and well balanced. the beer was very drinkable and hid the high alcohol content extremely well.

Beautifully crisp, clear golden pour with a sturdy white cap. This is a blonde ale with deep robust flavor and strong ale potency at 9.5% ABV. Six malt ingredients fuel the backbone but this beer is all about spice. That d'Achouffe yeast does it's thing with deep clove, banana and lemon flavor. If you like Belgian blonde spice on steroids, this one's for you.

Not usually my style (I like more bready and less sweet) but this goes AMAZINGLY well with Indian food!! The floral, fruity, and malty flavors complement the complex spices with sweet and spicy notes.

The perfect belgian blonde ale. The end of the search, I found it.

Wow! By the time I plug in the numbers, this might be a top 10 beer ... Perfect example of a delicious higher octane Belgian.... I should not be surprised that this is the non-Belgian brewer that figured it out

It's a foamy pour that emptied the contents of a pint can into a clear glass liter mug. In rare form, the foam reduced quickly and most notably, in even fashion. That helps to make this an attractive brew. Its color is richly bright amber, with a decided copper tint. For all its color, this is relatively translucent. The foam became a modest off-white head which was enduring. The aroma has some malt and cereal characters, behind that are some hops. Perhaps most promising of all is the nearly absent smell of Belgian-style esters. There's certainly some of the familiar Belgian yeast in the flavor, but it isn't overly bothersome. Likely, it helps to keep the taste of the substantial alcohol in check. It's not very malty in flavor, nor could it be considered hoppy. There's that clove-like reference you can get from this style, but it isn't out of balance with the other flavors. The mouthfeel runs light, but smooth enough, especially for the ABV. This leaves with a nicely dry, albeit spicy finish. There wasn't much glass lacing and the head didn't quite make it to the end. That really doesn't matter, if you're looking for a potent Belgian Ale that doesn't taste like a boilermaker. There's nothing world class here, in any category, but there's plenty of alcohol provided in a toned down Belgian style brew.

Four 16oz cans, $15
Looks great: slightly cloudy, huge fluffy off-white head. Very strong clove scent with touches of ripe banana and lemon oil. My brother likened it to champagne and criticized it for being overly dry. The taste is pure clove, with again, a bit of banana yeast and lemon hops. Good, but overrated

Excellent spot on Belgian style from upstate NY. Love that Belgian yeast - it is unmistakeable. I agree that it comes on as a little too strong though, would be fine at 6-7% but thats just my take. Makes for a very nice and tasty slow sipper.

16 oz can into a Duvel snifter.
L; Pours 98% clear deep caramel color with generous steady flowing carbo bubbles, a pillowy 1" eggshell white head that has excellent retention, top of the head looks waxy, thick lacing with odd banding and spots.
S: Sour fruit, banana, clove, floral, a little bit spicy, a hint of fruit cake.
T: Taste follows aroma exactly along with notes of apple skin, yeast, alcohol, and bread. There is a long bitter linger within and after the finish that can be associated with sharp citrus zest.
F: Gently fizzy and lively, plump, medium-bodied feel with a pillowy middle and a moderately soft lightly drying finish. Excellent attenuation to the final sip.
O: A great tasting take on the style here. It is strong. Tremendous full flavor, pillowy, a little spicy in a Belgian Ale way and easy to drink. Gives most any Belgian Blonde a run for its money. It is outstanding in its style.
