Ommegang's brewers spent several years refining their ideas of what a "perfect" tripel would be. In the original style, a Belgian tripel is a golden ale, from 8.5% to 10% ABV, with fruity flavors and aromas coming from the yeast. Tripels are simply brewed, but with great attention to detail. Ommegang Tripel Perfection goes beyond the exquisite attention to detail and adds spices to subtly enhance aromas and flavors. The result is a fine ale honoring Belgian brewing tradition, while also expanding on it in the new Ommegang tradition.

Poured from a 750 ml corked bottle into a Duvel tulip glass. Bottled on 11/13/14.
Appearance: Pours a bright golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Huge four finger white head with decent retention. Leaves a decent amount of lacing.
Smell: A yeasty, spicy, and fruity Belgian style aroma with big hints of spice and zesty fruit. Belgian yeast with upfront hints of clove, coriander, peppers, farmhouse funk, and slight licorice. Fruit hints of orange peel, lemon zest, green apple, and white grape. Soft pale malt with hints of grains, straw, and cracker. Also some sweet hints of Belgian candied sugar and subtle earthy hops. A very nice aroma.
Taste: Like the aroma, a yeasty, spicy, and fruity Belgian Tripel taste with good notes of spice and fruits. Belgian yeast with big spice notes of coriander, clove, peppers, farmhouse funk, and licorice root. Fruit esters come through with notes of orange peel, lemon zest, white grape, banana, and green apple. Also some notes of bubblegum and candied sugar. Pale malt with notes of straw, grains, and cracker. Light backing notes of floral hops. A really good taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a high level of carbonation. Nicely spicy and zesty with a drying finish. Booze is masked well.
Overall: A very good version of a Belgian Tripel. Good mix of spices and fruit esters with a nice level of carbonation.

Picked up a 750ml bottle from TW Arrowhead on 11-4-17 as part of a three-pack of other flavors for $29.99. No bottling date visible.
Beer poured golden orange with a nice white head that has some decent hang time.
Nose is fruity esters and a large European malt bill.
Taste is apples and pears over a large malt bill. Finish has adequate noble hopping to balance things out nicely.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and very smooth!
Overall a very solid brew, glad i was able to try!

Could not find a best by date on this one
Appearance - deep golden color with white head
Smell - apricot, sugar, honey
Taste - apricot, honey, orange zest
Mouthfeel - medium bodied, lower level of carbonation, sweet upfront from the citrus, back end is a bit boozy, finish is a bit unrefined
Overall - decent tripel here, not sure about a re-visit, though. So many better examples especially considering full asking price.
Price Point - $10.99/750ML bottle

Look: Pours a cloudy golden orange color with a soapy, two finger head of coarse, off white foam.
Aroma: Superb. Decadent with a musky, floral belgian yeast character. Notes of savory baked bananas, creamy vanilla cheesecake, smoky roasted oakwood, sweet rosemary, spicy clove, bubblegum, and toasted creme brulee with fresh lemon and orange rind.
Taste: Bright and slightly herbaceous with fruity, estery flavors of banana, lemon oil, bakers yeast and mild bubblegum supported by creamy notions of vanilla, irish soda bread, caramel custard and bittersweet, floral rosemary, clove and white pepper with fresh honey.
Feel: Full bodied with effervescent carbonation. Alcohol profile is nonexistent. Creamy, dry, bubbly, floral and somewhat bittersweet.
Overall: A very heady Tripel with a rich, efflorescent, spicy belgian yeast characteristic supported by dry, creamy notions of sweet, floral and fruity esters. I would absolutely buy this again, if only I could find it on the shelves more often. Ommegang has outdone themselves. . . an absolute delight if you enjoy Tripels.

Its Ommegang + its a Tripel = Its damn good! Pours a clear gold with a decent foamy head. All the aromas and flavors you would expect, done to near perfection, hence the name. Yeast, malt, bread, orange, coriander and sugar. Its all there. Just the right amount of sweetness. Alcohol is there but not dominant, nicely carbonated.

25.4 oz. bottle poured into a tulip.
Appearance: Pours a rusty gold with a big white frothy head that retains well.
Aroma: Wheat, honey, orange peel, malt sweetness.
Taste: Orange peel and sugars lead the way. Booze burn, malt sweetness. Some candy-like flavor. Tangerines. Possibly honey, as in the nose.
Mouthfeel: A slow drinker, in part due to the high ABV.
Overall: Good strong ale. Complex and full of flavor. Pretty boozy, too.
