First of all, thanks to ncketchum for the nitro bottle. Interestingly enough, well, at least interesting to me, I reviewed this beer in a regular old bottle last December. I poured this one out aggressively, as was suggested, into an imperial pint glass. This was served slightly chilled...
A) Black as expected. The aggressive pour mentioned above, yielded a nice two finger tan head. Excellent retention, as this slowly settled to a dusting. Good lacing. A very attractive beer right here.
S) Quite similar to my original tasting notes, light roast, fresh coffee, and a little bit of chocolate. A nice aroma...
T) Again, very similar to my notes a year ago. Coffee, chocolte, splah of cream, a little hop bitterness on the backend, which blends well with the chocolate. Nice flavor...
M) Okay, here's where the nitro bottle lost me. The Left Hand Milk Stout in the regular bottle had an exceptional body. Hell, I gave the mouthfeel a 5. It was soft, supple, like velvet smooth. This was none of those things. It felt thin, and a bit too lively.
O) Other than bumping up the appearance score, I see no reason to revisit the nitro bottle option of this brew. I guess you just can't underestimate the importance of a top notch mouthfeel. Glad to recommend this beer, but my personal preference is for a sixer of the regular bottles. Cheers...

As a lefty myself, I like this brewery's name, and I love the hands-on-cow graphic on the label.
Poured into a tulip glass from the 12 oz. bottle.
a. As black as a stout ever gets. The thick inch plus tan head shrank slowly to a dense surface foam film with loads of lacing. The head on this sucker is outstanding. Looking good!
s: Dark malty goodness!
t: Stout leaning to porter. Not as strictly malty as I like my stouts to be, but so many stouts today seem to have that roasty hop porterness. I really enjoy a good porter, but if I want a low hop stout like I was hoping this would be, I want to taste the malt!
m: Smooth for a porter, not as velvety as a really good stout can be. I'm thinking of my local brewer just down the road, who makes a great milk stout that is my personal gold - er dark brown standard.
o: Similar in taste to the Avery Out of Bounds Stout I had and reviewed recently, but a little more stoutly. And more carbonation. I'd take this one over Avery's, although at least in my area Avery's price point deserves the A it gives itself on their labeling. $1.25 is always better than $2 if you are the buyer, especially if you are part Scottish.
