Reviewed from notes.
Pours a moderate brown color with a light tan head and a touch of lacing. Head falls down pretty quickly. The nose is a bit of toasted malt along with some nuts, chocolate, and some earthy and floral hops. The taste is a bit of toasted bread and light chocolate. Good, healthy body with good carbonation. Drinks pretty well, but nothing special.

On-tap 11/25/07 at Pitcher’s Pub in Cumberland, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a light brown color, with a thin off-white head that fades quickly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is faint but contains caramelized malt, nuts and maple with a touch of hops.
T: The taste is malty but not too heavy and not too sweet, with flavors of caramel, maple and nuts. The hops presence is decent for the style and provides a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Smooth and pretty crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, slightly sticky finish.
D: Tasty, goes down easy, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, it’s a beer that is worth sticking with for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.

This beer poured a brown color with a small head. The aroma was malty but faint. The taste is sweet and quite malty with light hops noted very nice. The mouthfeel is full and a bit creamy. Overall, I think that his is a great drinking beer that would be considered good for sessions.

The beer pours a dark amber/brown color with a thick offwhite head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a sweet crystal malt scent along with some roasted malt notes. The taste is decent also. It has a grainy pale and crystal malt flavor that is sweet on the way down and dry on the finish. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low/medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a good drinking brown ale, but it doesn't exactly blow you away.

Had this on tap at Left Hand's tap room in Longmont, Colorado.
Appreanace: This pours a reddish brown color with a quickly diminishing white head
Aroma: The schnauzola on this puppy is somewhat malty.
Flavor: It's malty, with some bite from the hops. Decent, but not outstanding.

Wow this is old apparently not being brewed since 2010 is my guess since the "bottled on" space is blank... really?
A - Wow for being old I got no sediment so it must have been in the cooler most of the time. Little to no head just a slightly sticky lace ring. Color is a hazy dark amber brown.
S - Typical nut ale I get some brown malts, sweet caramels, but this has a very good almond smell to it that catches my attention. Still bright and nutty for it's age.
T - Not bad finish is a bit underwhelming since I get some cardboard oxidation but it does have a distinct sweet body and nutty flavors which are fairly smooth. Hops are non existent.
M - Light to medium not skunked or soured in any way
Overall I am impressed this session ale held up at least a year or older in a cooler. A fairly tasty brown ale and some pretty sweet cover art. Worth the price even though it was old.

I found this review while going through an old beer notebook of mine. The review is from early 2010.
I got this beer as part of the Left Hand sampler 12-pack.
This beer pours a clear orangish copper color. There is about two fingers of off-white head on top. The head has pretty good retention, and it leaves some scattered lace behind on the glass. The color is lighter than I imagined it would be. The nose has a nice bit of caramel and toasted malt in the forefront. There are some aromas of nuts, toffee, and a little bit of hop presence. A pretty nice simple nose on it. The taste starts off with some toasted malt and caramel. There are some flavors of nuts, toffee, and a little bit of chocolate. Also, there is some hop flavor coming through. The taste is much more pronounced than the nose suggests, and it leaves some lingering toasted malt and caramel flavor on the palate. This has a medium body and good carbonation. It goes down easy and has a nice smooth feel to it. There is some good sweetness here and a really mild hop bitterness. This beer has good drinkability. It is a really easy going brown ale, and the flavor is quite nice. This is a beer i can just sit back anytime and just enjoy. It isn't the most flavorful or complex beer, but it is good for what it is and hits the spot. I think this beer is worth trying, but unfortunately now I see that it is retired. Either way, if it makes a come back in the future you should check it out.

Deep Cover poured a fitting deep amber with a chill haze dancing within it. The head was relatively modest, dropping fairly quickly leaving a drape of tan lace.
Overripe fruit and brown sugar made up the bulk of the nose. A bit of toastiness was overshadowed by sweet and fruity flavors.
The flavor had a bit of a hop snap to it, lingering through the finish. Otherwise, mostly buttered toast and brown sugar dominated for the most part.
The body was on the light side, with subtle, yet tingly carbonation. Easy to drink, good flavors, satisfying yet forgettable.

Brown and copper, thin head. Tobacco aroma, slightly in the taste.
A bunch of nuts and thick earth feel to it. This is a chewy brown. I guess more enjoyable and has more body than what I tend to come across. Just the slightest degree of hops. Some yeast fruitiness ekes through.
Not my thing, but decent enough.

A - One-finger head that dissipates quickly. Leaves no lacing and a very light smattering of foam on the top of the beer. Color is a translucent reddish brown.
S - Smells of floral hops and warm malt, as well as an earthiness that I can't quite pin down.
T - Slightly sweet, with a very noticeable (but not overly powerful) toffee twinge. The malts seem to outdo the hops slightly.
M - Leaves a pleasant malty aftertaste with a hint of toffee sweetness.
D - I dig it, and would gladly grab one again at a party or order one at a bar, but it's not the most remarkable beer I've had. Better than your run of the mill convenience store beer, definitely, but not my favorite. Try this one out, but don't commit to a sixer.

Poured into a nonic glass, bottled date was 5 months ago.
Color of iced tea, slightly hazy, off white head with average retention and lacing.
Smell was fruity with carmel goodness. Sugary cracker notes.
Taste had some berry-like sweetness, followed by biscuity maltiness. Mild with a delicate complexity. Ultra soft trail of hops on the finish.
Light-bodied, medium carbonation.
This beer was a total surprise to me. I really enjoyed it, and I want to try it on tap right away. Very drinkable, easy going and wonderful.

12oz bottle poured into an imperial pint.
A: Clear dark copper with a thick foamy head that recedes slowly with good lacing.
S: Very malty and bready.
T: Lots of brown sugar and malt up front. Bready with hints of toffee and maybe black tea?
M: Medium bodied and clean finish.
D: Despite the amount of sweetness present this brew was surprisingly drinkable. At 4.3% would make a nice session beer.

Poured in to a Ommegang chalis glass. THe smell is almost like wheat bread. Color is more of an amber red than a brown. bright white head. flavor is pretty soft. No finish. Pretty average brown ale. Not Left hand's best. Not much to say. Just have to fill in the rest to post.

12oz. bottle served in a standard pint. Bottled on 09/09/09 indicated on the label. Poured a translucent brownish-copper with a frothy three inch, off-white cap. Head eventually settles into a solid skim with residual strands of lacing adhering to the walls of the glass during the session. Nose is very subdued; maybe a suggestion of chocolate malt and caramel. Taste is somewhat bland - a bit watery, considerable cereal grains and some strange fruity esters that seemed a little off. Mouthfeel is light-medium with an even level of carbonation. Easy drinking and sessionable, but flavors seemed a little off. Lacking the malty/roasty/lightly hopped character of the style.

Picked up a 6'er on sale for $5 at Heritage.
Poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a pub glass. A solid 1'' + head of sudzy delight forms up. Slow to recede. Very foamy with a great visual appeal. Leaving thick sticky huge lace drapes down the glass. Retention is commanding as well, with a solid cap hanging on for deer life.
Color is a transparent ruby brown amber.
Aroma is nutty with mild chocolate grain and a solid toffee malt backbone. A touch bready as well as a mild herbal spice kick subdued mostly by malt, but still hops are present in aroma.
Taste is true to style with delicious grain flavors, special b and a touch of chocolate with an almost oat like protein and mineral water flavor. Leaving behind mild leafy hop flavors of earth and mild spice.
Mouthfeel is fuller in feel with a good amount of non-stinging carbonation. Leaving a touch of slickness after the swallow. I presume from oats.
A truly delicious English Brown that must be tried.
Drinkability is exceptionally high in overal flavor and low abv. A great sessionable brew for any time of year.

A: A light brown with thin had and some okay (but little) lacing.
S: Nice and malty, also a strange hint of fruity.
T: Malt up front and something odd in the background. Honestly, tastes almost like watermelon.
M: Not that carbonated, and too thin.
D: Probably will not be purchasing this again, unless included in a variety pack. This was a rare miss for Left Hand, in my opinion.

Appears a caramel copper brown hue with a light beige head that quickly dwindles leaving behind minimal scattered lacing. Aromatics offer up a touch of cookie dough with a light herbal and tobacco leaf quality. Flavor has a roasted malt sweetness a touch of honey nut almond like notes. Herbal and tobacco leaft hop bitterness in the finish works to balance it out, this is a nice mild brown ale. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with easy going smooth carbonation nothing wrong with this one in anyway. Drinkability is overall a nice session beer, I hope to get some mixed 12 packs of Left Hand fresh this can be a problemn in the Pittsburgh market so far these bottles from Boardman, OH have been spot on.

A: tobacco brown with a 1inch tan foamy head that dissipates rapidly, leaves very little lacing.
S: Weak. Toasted malt, caramel, sweetness from dark fruits/molasses
T: Coffee bite followed by sweetness from caramel/dark fruit, ended by a nice bitter aftertaste.
M: watery, flowed almost like water. Kinda threw me off for a brown ale. Decent carbonation.
D: Easy to drink, but the mouthfeel turns me off from this beer.

A: Hazy orange brown... off white head
S: Sweet and nutty
T: This tastes similar to new castle, but much more smooth and tasty. Very sweet, brown sugar taste and a little bit nutty. Even though it is sweet it is very light and easy to drink.
Summary: Haven't had many brown ales in my day, but this so far is my favorite. I will definitely be drinking this one again.

The beer pours a brilliantly clear copper-red with a moderate white head. The aroma is highly malty, intense caramel and raisin and rather sweet. The flavor is moderate-high malt; caramel flavor along with a bit of hop flavor. The subtle hop bitterness provides adequate balance. The body is medium-full with a silky smooth mouthfeel and medium-low carbonation. Overall a tasty brew that is definitely worth a try.

A- Nice head, nice dark brown color. Nothing that exceptional, what I expected.
S- Really pleasant smell, nutty. Not very strong but nice and balanced. Hint of hoppiness, not that much.
T- I like the taste, especially for a brown ale. Nice body to it, not really bitter, nutty taste similar to the smell. I suppose a hint of dryness, hardly noticeable on the tail end.
M- Nothing good or bad, balanced.
D- Drinkable indeed. Really good beer to just chill in the pub with or make a staple for when you want a more medium body beer.
I think it's pretty good overall. Don't let my one line sections of the review fool you. The thing is that it's certainly not bad, pretty good in fact. Basically the exact amount of quality I have come to expect form Left Hand. Not really my thing but I would definitely go for it when it's not the season or I'm not in the mood for a stout. Good beer.

Pours a hazy reddish brown with a thin tan head. Lighter in color than many brown ales. Smell was of a bit of toffee. Taste was a bit of chocolate up front, with a dextriny sweet middle, and a earthy finish. A hintof tartness as well. Moithfeel was well rounded, slightly high carbonation. Very drinkable, a simple yet refreshing brown.

Poured into a Perfect Pint glass.
A: Deep chestnut brown, with nice clarity. A creamy beige head has good retention and leaves a nice amount of lace.
S: Toffee, baking chocolate and a bit of walnut.
T: Fairly light. Bittersweet toffee up front. A black tea and lemon bitterness comes on with just enough intensity to provide balance. Finishes with a bit of chocolate.
M: The somewhat dry body has about the right level of carbonation.
D: A pretty decent beer overall. Low ABV makes it a good session beer. I'm glad I had the opportunity to have it.

A thin-looking nut brown color. The head was, for me, very thin and fast-vanishing with little to no lacing.
Smell is sweet, caramelly and nutty. Burnt sugar. Very nice.
Sweet, malty taste. Caramel, biscuits and chestnuts. Great taste but could be stronger.
Mouthfeel is somewhat watery, almost flat tasting. Noticeably lacking in this department.
Very tasty, goes down easy. However this beer's wonderful smell and taste are brought down somewhat by a watered-down texture and appearance.
