Received from a friend who just returned from Spain. Poured out of a 330 ml bottle into a pilsner glass.

A - Clear yellow. Lots of carbonation with a big white head that dissipates quickly.

S - Not much going on. Some faint grainy malts.

T - Bitter in a bad way, very watery and a bit acidic.

M - Very light with loads of carbonation.

O - No thank you.

Had this on-tap while on vacation in Sevilla and took notes. Pale yellow lager apperance with a very small head that dissipated quickly; very little lacing. Medium carbonation. The smell is very faint, a few hints of corn and grains but that's about it. Taste is not very impressive: bitter, a bit watery and acidic with a very dry mouthfeel.

Not the most pleasant beer around but this is what's offered in nearly every bar in Sevilla and after a while, you start ti get used to its unpleasant taste (for better of for worse).

A 330ml bottle with a BB date of March 2011. Picked up cheap at my local off-licence.

Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. Pale straw yellow with medium carbonation. A decent head of white foam that lasts for a minute or two. The liquid contains plenty of floating fragments - I tend to view haziness as the mark of a good beer but in this case it just looks unappetising. Aroma is faint; a hint of light grainy malt, a whiff of solvent and a sweet artificial note that is reminiscent of apples.

Taste is weak and watery. The faintest hint of pale malt, accompanied by a distintive solvent note and a slight artificial sweetness. The flavour has a acrid acidic quality that is unpleasant. Mouthfeel is prickly and dry. Leaves a bad aftertaste.

Not a very nice beer. I don't know if this is always like this or if it's just old. With a weak and nasty flavour, I simply cannot recommend this to anyone.

Cruzcampo. Man that brings me back. I spent 1.5 years in Spain, and this was what was on tap (or in bottles if you wanted to look cool) in the bars. In the bigger cities like Sevilla, expect to pay 1 - 1.25€ for a glass. Small towns, I often paid less than 1€. Generally it's given to you in the same sized glass. But you can specify a larger serving if you wish (una jarra in the south; "un doble" in Valencia for example).

It's a fizzy yellow lager. What more do you need to say? Everyone and their mother drinks it. I remember walking home in near 40 degree (Celsius) temperatures, and hitting a small bar near my home for one or two of these at the end of the day. While it's not a great beer, it will always have a place in my heart from my time living in Spain. Resist the urge to be a snob and call it Cruzasco (if you speak Spanish, you'll get it).

The beer is clear pale straw colored, with a white head leaving little lacing.

The smell is faintl, mainly boiled corn and vegatables.

The taste is typical wet sweet corn flakes, some lemon nuances and a faint metallic bitterness.

Medium carbonation, somewhat fizzy, a bit dry at the end.

Tastes like any low-budget pale euro lager.

A: The pour is golden with a medium large white and a bit uneven head.

S: Malt with a cornyness to it. A bit metallic and chemical with some citric notes and faint bitter hops.

T: Sweet malt, with faint corn in it. Some bitter hops and some citric notes.

M: The aftertaste is short, very short with some sweetness and faint bitterness. The body is medium to thin and the carbonation is rich.

D: Goes down smoothly. Great on the beach, a sunny day. Uncomplicated.
I'm not sure this is a German Pilsener - in part it's more like an American Adjunct Lager (a pretty nice one, for being an Adjunct lager). For being an German Pilsener it's very bleak.

A nice beer for a hot day in Spain and a great complement for siesta.
A: A nice pils that has a very light straw color.

S: Smells of some hops and malts, but a weak smell

T: A fairly standard pils flavor that is slightly maltier and yeastier than some others.

M: Leaves something to be desired. Fairly watery and weak.

D: A beer that you could drink a lot of on a hot day. A nice amount of carbonation that allows the beer to be very refreshing.

This is one of the best hot-weather pilsener style beers available. The only problem is that it's not available currently in the United States. But in it's native Sevilla, Spain, it makes the hot summers bearable, and the warm springs and autumns pleasant. The beer is a classic pilsener, more like a Czech than a German copycat. Beautiful golden clear color with a slight head that laces well. It has a nice subtle malt nose that leads into a malty palate followed up by a perfectly crisp hop finish. The mouthfeel makes it drinkable, with moderate thickness and carbonation. This is a good session beer in hot weather.

330 ml light brown bottle.

A- Pale gold yellow. Smallish pure white head. Very clear. Good bubbliness. Leaves some lacing on the glass.

S- Basic euro-lager. Pale malt witha touch of grassy hops. Maybe a faint hint of skunk. Very weak altogether.

T- OK grassy-herbal hops. Touch of grain husk. Enough hops to give it some taste. Mild bitter aftertaste. An OK if unexceptional and kind of boring euro lager.

MF- A little over carbonated. Crisp refreshing lager, but a little too harsh.

D- Very easy-drinking bland lager. Ranks alongside the standard european macros.
