Notes:
Looks dark, tastes light. It's Ontario's favourite dark lager. A dark beer that is slowly brewed with Canadian grown malted barley, specialty coloured malts, imported hops and pure cultured brewers yeast.
Dark lagers are enjoyed all year long, and they're not as filling as ales. Waterloo Dark will cut some of the heaviness in sauce-based meat dishes. Waterloo Dark is an equally perfect beer to go with appetizers suitable for watching sports games, or used as an actual ingredient when preparing a meal.
Experience what this great dark "light tasting" lager has to offer and why it has won multiple awards at the World Cup of Beer, Canadian Brewing Awards, Ontario Brewing Awards and the Monde Selection International Institute For Quality Selections.

Can from my father-in-law. Served in a pils glass.
A - A finger-plus of lightly tanned foam settles to a thin partial cap and collar and negligible lace. Transparent chestnut brown, with copious bubbles adhering to the sides of the glass and racing throughout the body.
S - Roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, a bit of corn. Gets worse as it warms, with a sharp metallic note in the periphery.
T - Taste is corn sweetness mixed with light toffee and nut notes, grain, and perhaps a hint of cocoa. Somewhat cloying and under-attenuated but largely devoid of off-flavors.
M - Harsh, aggressive carbonation, with a watery medium-light body. Finish is mostly clean, with a bit of roast to it.
D - Not terrible, but not very good either. I think I made it through 6oz before I gave up and moved on to something better. More flavorful than the fizzy yellow beer that is so popular in Ontario, but only marginally so. Would do in a pinch over Labatt or something, but not something I'd buy again.

Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a dark brown nearly black color with a one finger tan colored head. The head fades relatively quickly to leave a light level of lacing and a rather persistent film.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a roasted malt mixed with a lighter sweetness of caramel and some corn.
Taste – The taste begins of roasted malt and a sweet caramel taste. As the taste advances it seems to sweeten even further as some sweet corn malt flavors get more pronounced. The flavor takes on an almost cola like flavor with the mix of sweet corn and roast. A very light coffee flavor comes to the tongue at the end of the taste and when combined with the rest leaves a rather odd mix of sweet and roasted malt.
Mouthfeel-The body of the beer is on the average to just below average side in terms of its creaminess with a carbonation level that was rather average. While a darker brew, which is normally nicer with a creamier body, this beer actually seemed to do better with the thinner body and higher carbonation as it matched the more soda like flavor.
Overall – Well… it was a little too sweet and cola like in flavoring for me. Not bad if that is what you want from a beer, but not something that I personally really enjoyed.

For a dark beer, this one is somewhat simple. Enjoyed in a pint glass.
A tanned foamy head which disolved quite quickly
Colour was clear and dark cola like.
Nose was this with slight hint of hops.
Mouthfeel was edgy, not rounded.
No distinct flavours, not even malt, yet there is a subtle bitters finish
A OK beer.

Appearance: Translucent dark mahogany. Thin light brown head.
Aroma: Chemical. Some strange mix of malts making it a little off-putting.
Taste: Just like in the nose, it's got a chemical quality to it. Like the taste of a cleaning solution or something. There is a moment in the finish when you taste some redeeming qualities of roasted malt but it is just an odd flavor overall.
Mouthfeel: Just below medium bodied with average carbonation. The jury's out on drinkability since I'm probably going to drain pour this one.
Final Thoughts: This one has me at a crossroads. On the one hand it has a strange flavor to it that is putting me off and on the other hand there really isn't anything outright bad about it. Would I drink it again? No, I'm probably not even going to finish the one I'm drinking now.

473ml can poured into a pint glass. ABV 5%.
A - Poured a dark mahogany with a 1cm cream head. Head reduced to surface bubbles. Minimal lacing.
S - Roasted malts, hint of pine.
T - Some caramel sweetness, hint of toast, a bit of sourness in the middle, metallic notes, very mild bitterness in the finish. The flavour comes and goes pretty quick.
M - Average carbonation, medium-light body, drying finish.
O - There's some sour & metallic notes that make this one miss the mark in the flavour department. The flavour is just light overall making this one is quite easy to drink. This isn't something I'll seek out.

Pours a clean deep amber to brown in color with a light tan head. In the aroma, lager like notes with a note of caramel roast. In the taste, a caramel like roast in the beginning and the end, but in the center of it all is a basic lager. A small bite and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry, small roasty lager like aftertaste. Well, it is a basic dark lager.

Appearance- Pours a dark brown (almost cola) with a finger width of bubbly head that fades quickly.
Smell-plum, tad roasted malts. Not much else to the aromas. Very off putting.
Taste- There is a little bit of the roasted malts and not much else perhaps some sweetness. Very peculiar flavours.
Mouthfeel- Light to medium bodied with light carbonation. Thin and watery.
Overall- A sub par Euro Dark Lager (if this is what its trying to be). Unpleasant aromas and bizzare flavours make this almost a drain pour. Disappointed and hoping to try a better representation of the style in the future.

Brick Waterloo Dark Lager
LOOK: Pours a amber brown, with an off white cream foam. Leaves some lace, and the head has some staying power.
SMELL: Barley malt, cereal grains, some grassy hop. Malt forward aroma.
TASTE: The first few sip bring impressions of doughy malt and dark breads. There is a flash of lemony, grassy hops then the flavor is gone. Odd mineral twang and more grains to follow. Slightly nutty, like a macro dunkel lager.
FEEL: Medium bodied, well carbonated, crisp. A refreshing dark lager brew easy to drink.
OVERALL: A pretty decent product from the Canadian brewery, a good beer to either enjoy in mass quantities or with a hearty meal.

A: practically opaque dark cola.
S: simple, pine, yeastiness. Simple lager smell.
T: Not much maltiness. Close your eyes and you couldn't tell it has a speck of dark malt. Clean, simple. Not much there. Noticeable bitterness and maybe even some sourness in the finish.
M: fine.
O: Bias declaration: I just don't see the point of dark lagers. Either buy a lager or buy an ale. A dark lager tries to be both and ends up being nothing. Last time I try one.
