Notes:
Saison is the original summer beer. Originally brewed in southern Belgium for thirsty farm hands, these crisp, bubbly, and refreshing brews demand to be consumed on hot summer days. Our Saison follows centuries of tradition, using European hop varieties—Hallertauer Magnum, Styrian Goldings, and Strisselspalt. We also use a very light base malt accented by just a touch of Wheat and Munich malts. Finally, we ferment the beer very warm with a well-known Belgian yeast strain to bring out the spicy flavors that are common to Saisons.

Picked this up at a local grocery store and kept it refrigerated since. Poured into a nonic considering the low ABV.
Overall I found this to be kind of a lager of saisons. Highly sessionable but no complexity. Pretty much any multiple notes you get from this is caused by reinterpreting the same notes in my opinion. A little yeast, a tad of zest, and a lot of basic. If you like Saisons and are looking to drink 7 glasses of something, this is for you.

Note- Catching up on some ancient review notes. This was consumed about 3 months past the bottling. 750 ml poured into a Duvel tulip.
Slightly hazy deep gold with a sizeable head and some lacing. Pleasantly fruited aromas of lemon zest and sliced apples with grasses, grains and assorted herbs. The flavor doesn't quite live up to this promise of complexity, but make no mistake, it's bold and flavorful with a zippy, almost spritzy feel. Big herbal hop flavor with a nice citric bite at the swallow and lingering yeast. Good stuff.

Grand Teton The Grand Saison
Appearance: straw yellow, large pillowy head, and some good lacing.
Smell: yeast, grain, and spice.
Taste: sweet grainy malt, slight yeast, and a light wheat finish.
Mouthfeel: medium-light.
Overall:
This is a good brew. It seems more like a lager than a saison, yet has a good amount of wheat flavor. The flavors are pleasant and start off nice, but flatten out to just being okay.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a very hazy light golden amber. Nice two finger fine white head with good retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of bready malt, lemon, light spicing. Flavor has less malt, with nice citrus; orange and lemon, yeast and Belgian yeast and spicing, lightly tart and a hint of funk. Finish is refreshing citrus, dry. Very nicely made and refreshing. Light to medium bodied, to style. Opened this 2011 bottle with slight trepidation (I didn't pay attention that it was last year's bottling when I bought it, and was a little nervous; the label even recommends drinking fresh). But no worries, this was a very pleasant saison that did not appear to have lost any flavor or balance. Nice work, Grand Teton.

Id like to thank myself for sharing this bottle with me.
I had this beer pored from a bomber into a tulip glass. Bottled on 5/16/11.
A: Golden Straw Hue, Passes Lots of Light, Thick White Head, Decent Lacing
S: Yeast, Wheat, Lemongrass, Mild Peppermint
T: Yeast, Lemons, Peppermint
M: Great Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Mildly Spicy
Overall, a really nice drinking saison that isnt too yeasty or too spicy...very easy drinking.

thanks merc for cracking this year aged bottle
The beer pours a clear golden with a foamy white head. The head falls to a soft white halo within minutes, but is regenerated easily and laces well. The nose is yeasty with a spicy mint undertone and subtle bite of alcohol. It's quite clean tasting, not much funkiness. The mouthfeel is carbonated with well balanced honey sweetness and a slightly bitter/musty aftertaste. Decent tasting saison with a touch of spice to compliment the honey sweetness.

Bomber into a tulip, the brew appears a clear golden color with 3 fingers worth of white head. Patchy lace sticks to the glass as the cap slowly fades. A light swirl revives more than a finger back to the surface.
The smell is earthy with a hint of sulfur and cheesy funk. A bit of fruit rinds like pear/apple. Strong coriander scent like oily lemon essence mixed with pulp. A bit of herbal appeal that is mellow across the back.
The taste is fruity with pear, clove spiciness, earth and cheese. Some herbal hops blend with a dry solvent alcohol character. The aftertaste includes pear and golden apple flavoring.
This is a medium bodied brew with a modest level of carbonation. It includes a well integrated alcohol level. Overall it is interesting and enjoyable with a good mix/balance of character. A fairly good take on the style that gets progressively spicy and warming as the experience continues.

had 3 of these last night in Boise at the Solid. $3 beers at Happy hour. I believe Grand Teton is the best Idaho beers, and was looking forward to trying the Grand Saison.
Have been on a Saison kick lately, and this one ranks up there- and at such a bargain price.
Good looking straw colored beer with a white head and some lacing, but not much. A very refreshing beer and so easy to drink for a 7.5 ABV beer. I thought this was a very good beer when you want to take a break from hops.

2011 bottle.
Pours a bright hazy gold color with a big off white head.
Aromas are of citrus, dusty, yeast, spice, and pepper.
Taste is citrus like up front, lemon zest, touch of hard candy sweetness, and hints of sourness. There are also hints of pepper, minerals, and slight bitterness on the finish.
Mouthfeel is thin, but not bad.
Overall a nice Saison. The mouthfeel only is the only flaw, in an otherwise quite solid beer.

Split with my fiancé in our backyard on a sunny and 70 degree afternoon.
Poured a hazy golden honey with a finger and a half of creamy bright white head. Dissipated fairly quickly into a thin film.
Smells of lemon zest with some earthy herbal notes, a slight spiciness and a touch of barnyard funk.
This is a very refreshing saison. Great lemony notes with white peppercorns, earthy herbal notes all finished with some great funk.
Light to medium in body with a solid amount of carbonation. Very dry finish with a nice funky lemon zest aftertaste.
Overall, this was an amazing saison. Perfect choice for a day like today. Very refreshing, complex and a little funky. Excellent brew for sure. I wish I had some more...
