A: Poured a bit vigorously from a swingtop bottle into a pint glass, which produced a 2cm, off-white head that quickly collapsed into a think coating of bubbles along the top of the beer. Would have liked the head to stay around a bit longer, but there's excellent lacing along sides of the glass: a full spectrum of streaks and rings. The body is a transparent brownish-amber with some hard to detect (against the darkness of the brew) carbonation.
S: When cold, the beer has a faint smell of toasted malt. The treat comes when the beverage warms, however, for then pleasant toasted malt combines with hints of sugared honey to produce a very inviting scent.
T: Toasty grains, a bit of caramel, some nuttiness, at times I want to say that I taste cherry preserves, and all ending with traces of fruity hops. Some general bitterness and coffee sourness occur in the middle and remains with the aftertaste, which I find enjoyable.
M: Medium to medium-light in body, similar to a thicker lager. Carbonation is moderate: stronger on the front of the tongue than in the rear, which leaves the experience crisp and refreshing. Dry finish from the hops.
D: Excellent warming effects in the nose, hearty malt taste (which is good), and a sound mouthfeel all make this very enjoyable, completely drinkable.

A: Clear, mahogany color, with a towering head of light tan foam; lingering is good, delicate lacing remains down the length of the glass as the beer is consumed.
S: Mild aroma of burnt toast. Slight coffee notes.
T: Hardly any malt sweetness, it goes straight to toasted grain, faintly acrid tasting. There's also some coffee acidity. Hops are mildly bitter, which is fitting given the lack of sweetness needing balance.
M: Moist, very slightly chewy, but a little low on the carbonation (because it all ended up in the head?); also a little dry in the finish.
O: Not complex, but enjoyable; it remindes me of a "light porter" if there is such a thing.

Kulmbacher Mönchshof Schwarzbier has a very thick, frothy, tan head, a clear, yet dark, ruby-brown appearance, and a lot of splotchy lacing left down the glass. The aroma is mild- toasted malt, dark coffee, dark bread, and sweetness. Taste is mild as well- sweet, malty, toasted, chocolaty, some coffee, and a bit of hops, but not too much. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Kulmbacher Mönchshof Schwarzbier finishes crisp, refreshing, dry, and delicious. Another winner from Kulmbacher, this gets an excellent score from me. Get some!
