Good lord, it's hard to find this actual beer. The German breweries are the WORST when it comes to renaming their beer styles for the U.S. Market...This has to be like the 10th different beer name I've found from a German brewer. Fine, it's a "weizenbier" in Germany, but all of a sudden it becomes a "hefe-weizen" in the U.S. WTF!!!
In any event, this is a quickie...
The basics: $3.99/500ml FLIP-TOP bottle and 5.4% ABV...OK on both accounts..
Slightly hazy, pale amber with almost no head or lacing...Yikes...
Very malty aroma, has a super-sweet almost cloying aroma to it, like the yeast didn't fully eat all the wort sugars...If you've ever brewed beer, it smells exactly like caramel malt extract...Yikes...
Flavor is ho hum..In fact, I'd say it's not good...I'm actually getting more disappointed the more I drink it. Some spritz from the carbonation greets you with a quick handshake, then it leaves you so the yeast (if that's what I'm tasting, though I'm pretty sure) comes up and waves as it passes by...Who was that??!! Then the finish gets a tad thin and nothing really meets you on your way out..."See the Egress" as P.T. Barnum used to say!!! Wait, where was the flavor?? That, my dear friends, is the conundrum...
What I like most: The German origin of this beer...
What I like least: Everything about this beer...
Verdict: How a brewery like Weinhenstephaner can do this so much better for even cheaper is beyond me...Don't even bother with this when you can find like 30 German Weizenbiers for less that are better...
<edit>: I'm actually dumbfounded that people think this is good beer given they can spend less for better German Hefe-Weizens...it's mind-boggling..

Brown 0.5 litre bottle, best before 07-2008, drank 12-2007.
Poured into one of my Franziskaner Weissbier glasses.
This is a hazy one, all Hefeweizen are hazy, but this one is real hazy. The huge white head sits atop busy bubbley highly carbonated beer.
It may be the haze king but its aroma is small fry compared to others. There is some vanilla and banana, but very little in comparison with most other hefeweizen.
All the right flavours are here, but it appears lightwieght in everything about it. The mouthfeel is weak, the flavours don't linger and the aftertaste isn't correct.
Not overly impressed with this beer, I have had many better Hefeweizen and I'll not be having another of these.

Appearance: cloudy, but without the floating yeast, with a pale orange colour. The head is white, moderately large, fair retention and little lacing.
Aroma: citrus, wheat and some yeast notes.
Taste: confirms the aroma. Bitter with a yeast tang.
Mouthfeel: dry, average carbonation, average strength and light body.
Finish: not very long bitter aftertaste.
Overall: not very impressive. Too watery. Probably my last one.

*did not mind would not buy*
app: a rainbow of yest slury .. I like to dump the shaken yeast in not able to see through it.. it is yellow orangish with a weak pillowy white head. 3.5 cause it looks so scary I am intrested.
smell: B A N A N A S this beer is.. just that and a little bit of butter.
taste: very alive for lotsa heffys I have had, pretty mild balanced heff.. I think I really like its spritzyness. a little bit dry and strange back of mouth taste on finish of second gulp... some sort of chemical taste.
nah.. this is not a great heffy, just an okie dokie down the middle one with a strange taste that is like very watered down paint thinner at the end.
mf: like the carbonation .. its to thin though.
drinkable?: minus that taste yes it is. so kinda.
dont waste your time on this unless you just have to try a new beer or drink all heffs on the planet.

"Mit Feiner Hefe" the label proclaims.
Pours a cloudy, lemon yellow. Big fluffy, off-white head that leaves no lace.
Smell is hops, malt and a metallic note, all very light. I really had to search to find anything to smell.
Taste is hops, malt, banana, citrus and yeast. Much better. Decent balance and good complexity.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied, good carbonation all over. A bit of a hoppy bitterness at the finish.
Drinkability: a decent wheat if smelling you beer isn't a big issue.

A- The color was an odd amber with a pronounced olive green hue, with a bit of haze. The off white head left some lacing.
S- Caramel predominates, with very faint spice & fruit. Light and uninspiring aroma compared to the competition.
T- Aside from the expected sweet wheat malt flavor, clover honey was the only other detectable element. There was a chemical/solvent off-flavor present.
M, D- Medium bodied and smooth. Even at this low of an ABV, there was a volatile ethanol element.

16.9 oz. bottle,
A: Pours a cloudy light orange, with a rather small head for a hefe, good retention, really no lacing.
S: Definitely on the clovey side, spicy, dried bananas.
T: Clove bitterness hits first, a drier taste than I'm used to in this style. Wheat malt makes up the remainder of the flavour, light acidity.
M: Have a bit of the problem here, the carbonation is prickly and just too much, makes the beer difficult to drink on the whole, watery as well.
D: An OK beer, brand new at BevMo, so I thought I'd pick one up per the reviews on this site. Overall taste is too bitter for me in this style, a hefe I could drink, but there are plenty I'd rather have.

Poured from a swing top bottle into a stein a hazy straw color in the glass topped a white head that quickly disappears.
Nice nose sweet and malty with some light banana esters. But not as explosive as most German hefes I've tried.
The flavor follows the nose closely with the addition of yeasty tropical fruits and lemony citrus.
It has a crisp dry finish that is missing the chewy grain mouthfeel that I usually enjoy in a hefe. Hefe-light?
If I didn't know better I would have guessed this was made by a large American brewery for appeal to a wide American audience.
Paired it up nicely with a side of dry roasted almonds.

1pt 9oz Flip Top bottle - 5.4%ABV
C: Pours a nice hazy golden sunflower color with a lot of head and substantial visible carbonation. The head dissipates slowly and leaves behind a thick heavy lacing.
S: Wheat malt, light citrus scent
T: The first thing that stands out with this beer is the extra smooth texture. Hefeweizens are traditionally very watery, but this has a smooth rich texture. The flavors are flat. I don't taste any of the citrus that I was able to smell. It finishes with a light bitterness that lingers for a few seconds.
M: Again, the texture of the beer is great. It isn't overly carbonated as much of it is lost when poured.
D: It's okay. The texture of the beer is very enjoyable, but the lack of flavors or aromas doesn't make me want to try it again.

Yellow-orange color, clear. Weiss carboantion. Foam: OK, compact, creamy, persistent. A little hazyness.
Smell of banana, cloves, wheat, and maybe camomile. All light, thin, fresh.
Soft taste, not really fizzy: light banana, cloves, wheat: same of the taste even for the freshness; maybe some citric.
Quite light body. Citric aftertaste, maybe a little too much; wheat and banana, and it ends quickly.

Kulmbacher Kapuziner weissbier. 0.5 swingcap bottle.
Great look of golden hazy beer with big head. Not too much carbonation.
Smell and taste are biscuits, malt , yeast. Low on banana and citrus notes. Low on spices as well. Not much hops either, allthough the bottle states it contains both hops and hop extracts.
Watery mouthfeel, plus disappointing of refreshment.
This beer needs more carbonation, as well as flavours.
Not a very impressive weissbier.

Served in very cool Ayinger glass: +.5 points. With lemon, despite being asked not to: -.5 points. Still pretty--a cloudy orange with fluffy white head.
Smells like...plastic? Huh. Okay let it warm up. Nope. Now it doesn't smell much like anything.
Tastes lemony with peachy fruit in the finish.
As it warms, the mouthfeel gets a little...how do I say this nicely?...mucilagenous.
I think I liked the bottle better.

Appearance: Golden yellow color, a little cloudiness; not as much as many other hefeweizens. About one finger of foam, much less than expected. Moderate amount of lacing.
Smell: Got a good hit of banana esters from the freshly opened can, but not much after it was in the glass.
Taste: This is a hefeweizen? A balance of malt sweetness and some hops flavors, but not much banana, cloves, yeast or other typical hefeweizen flavors.
Mouthfeel: A bit light in body. Crsip finish. Good carbonation.
Overall: A disappointment. It tastes okay, but I can't understand the high ratings this beer has been getting. Bad batch or damaged in shipping (I'm in China)? Next time I want a hefe, I'll look elsewhere.

Pours a very cloudy peach color with minimal head and lacing.
Banana and citric aromas come to the fore. Not as complex as many other beers of this type.
Taste mirrored the smell. Again mostly bananas with a slight citric tartness but overall not real complex.
Nice mouthfeel. Ample carbonation to tickle the tongue and a medium and smooth body.
A somewhat drinkable brew. Nothing real memorable going on here but nothing offensive either. I'd drink it again at some point, but not go out of my way to seek one out.

Kapuziner Weissbier is a very cloudy, sparkling, pale yellow beer with a thick, foamy, white head. It has a muted aroma of banana bread and lemon pepper. It is light bodied, fluffy and very crisp with a dry finish. The flavor is nice: lemon, banana bread and fruity wheat. It has a boozy lemon pepper finish. This is a good, solid Hefeweizen.

(Served in a weizen glass)
A- There is a hazy orange body with a strong carbonation of big bubbles that supports a pancake bubble head that last for a good bit.
S- There is a nice crisp pine note that has a pleasant light fresh honey note to the finish.
T- This beer has a dry club soda note with some bread dough and a faint alcohol hint. This beer has a soft flat apple juice finish with a soft bubble gum note that grows a bit as it warms.
M- This beer has a full mouthfeel with a watery texture.
D- This beer has a light crisp soft wheat bread flavor with a slight watery note. The flavor are pretty subtle but the apple flavors are a bit off.

T: Surprisingly watery, muted flavor. Water, malty yeast, but weak. Tart. The flavor is ok though. Just not so interesting or strong.

Aromas of citrus, and spices.
It had a big, white, rocky and fluffy head. Good head retention, one or two spots of lace. Golden/ straw in colour, and hazy.
I tasted the traditional banana & clove plus pineapple. Maybe some orange. It had a slight tartness or bitterness, but very, very subtle.
Mouthfeel was creamy smooth. It floats in your mouth.
Overall, I think it's a good heffe. Great summer Beer. I'll drink it again.

Poured with good head, although only really the minimum you'd expect from a weiss. The body colour is murky with bits of sediments. Aroma rather pleasent, could again be more considering I know the capacity of this style. Notes of fruit and spice are detectable but far from bold. A light pungeancy, drinks as if it was served too warm. Texture wheaty: dry and grainy. A lack of finish, flavours seem to dicipate too quickly. One of the weaker German weiss beers I've tried, characteristics are just too weak.

I got this 500mL brown bottle from Wegmans in Cicero NY for $3.69. Code 1814343 on the label. Served cold in a chilled weizen glass.
I poured this a bit heavy and backed off just in time to keep it from going over the rim. But the beer certainly did help out in that effort, because the head rose to a good 1/2" over the top of the glass and held together without spilling over (I actually measured it). Brew is a cloudy honey color with abundant carbo floating upward. Nose is stale cinnamon (AKA "styrene", the fake plasticy kind of spice that seriously turns me off. Did you ever bite into a styrofoam cup or plate etc? That's what I'm talking about), a bit of astringent banana peel, skunk, yeast. For the most part, taste follows directly from it. Feel is average for the style.

Poured on-tap and served in a weisse vase, the beer is a creamy, cloudy, opaque orange-gold coloring with a thin, foamy, dense white head. Aromas of banana bread, orange, and a hint of clove, with some pineapple and mango highlights, also. Pineapple and clove heavy on the forward tongue, with the spice giving off to a roasted character and bready backbone, all of which is kept light and crisp by an increased and steady flow of carbonation. Decent cling of thick, foamy lace. The aftertaste gives off more of the blended fruit sweetness, with pineapple, mango, peach, and orange abound. Like drinking the juice out of a fruit cocktail. The finish has a slight cloying feel, but that is broken up quickly by the carbonation. Flavors are a wee bit too fruity for me, but it's a solid beer, nonetheless.

Hazy yellowish orange color with a one and a half inch head and very good lacing.
The aroma consisted of malts, bananas, citrus and clove notes with some yeast on my nose as I began to sip.
The taste was a bit of a downer. Decent malts, mild lemon/citrus flavor with some clove hints pursuing.
Here is the thing that did not sit well, it was the mild metallic tones.
The overall feel was medium body, high carbonation and a crisp, clean finish. Some mild tartness, but overall an o.k. balance.
Notes: I am not saying I would not purchase this again, but I will say that there are many better selections available.
Perhaps this could be paired with a specific meal or on a hot day I see no harm. One can say that it was a decent brew, just do not expect the world from it.

500ml bottle $3. Very nice looking golden, cloudy color, served in a pilsener glass. The smell was cloves and bubblegum with extra yeastiness. The taste starts out very nice with a strong bubblegum component but then finishes with a buttered popcorn flavor that I do not care for at all (diacetyl?).

On draught at The Beer Stein in Eugene, OR, and served in a Schneider Weisse glass, Kapuziner Weissbier is a hazy straw color with a thin white head.
The aroma is moderate, but classic hefe, in this case all clove esters.
The taste is also classic, and while it is still heavy on the clove, it has some banana fruitiness lingering in the background.
The mouthfeel is pretty thin and a touch watery.
Easy drinking and very refreshing, and while it's a fine example of the style, it's not particularly distinct or noteworthy, and ultimately forgettable.

Bottle purchased from Friar Tuck's in Savoy, IL.
No obvious bottled-on date on bottle.
Poured into a Schell's weizen glass.
Beer has, as expected, a huge off-white head that's very frothy, almost like meringue. Declines over many minutes to a constant 0.5cm cap. Leaves some good lacing on glass sides. Body is a dark copper, almost copper-brown in color, probably the darkest hefeweizen I've seen. Murky, as expected, from the yeast. Carbonation noticeable, despite the haze, and quite active.
Aroma of wheat malt, bread, applesauce, hushed other esters, and a slight yeastiness. While this may seem complex, it was heavily dominated by the malt and one has to dig for the other components. Fairly average.
Taste has similar qualities as the scent, with a strong barley and wheat malt backbone joined to very light banana esters, lemon, and clove. Aftertaste of sweet malt and slight lemony tartness. The darker body belies the stronger emphasis on the malt rather than the yeast and its metabolites (esters, etc.).
Medium-bodied with a carbonation level that is satisfying for the moderate heaviness of this beer. Feels smooth and fairly creamy on the palate. Finish is dry. A refreshing beer overall.
While this was very easy to drink, it felt lacking compared to other hefeweizens that I've had. In particular, Weihenstephaner, Ayinger, etc. are much more aromatic and flavorful than this right from the beginning. Essentially average, more focus on malt than the other flavors available from the style.
