Pours a dark brown/almost black color with very weak head. Aroma is weak mostly of sweet and roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts with coffee and some bread. Very watery mouthfeel with weak carbonation. Overall a below average sampling of the Schwarzbier style.

.5L, best before 10/14/11.
Has a lovely pour. Very dark, nearly opaque brown with a fantastic light tan head. Very creamy and thick, with great lacing.
The aroma is muffled, though there's some nutty, toasted malts.
The flavor falls a bit flat, but there's nothing overtly wrong. The sugar or sweetener used in the brewing process does not add too much sweetness, on the contrary, this beer is fairly dry. There's some toasted, near roasty malts and a woody character. The finish reveals some oxidation. The mouthfeel is smooth and not too carbonated.
Decent amount of flavor for the lightness (3.8% ABV) of this beer, but there's much better Schwarzbier to be had.

Had a bottle purchased from my Local Netto store in Dresden, Saxony, Germany. A very surprising full flavored Schwarzbier from the Czech Republic. At less than 4% ABV, very sessionable with a great flavor. Very different flavor from the normal Schwarzbiers available here in Germany that I have had.

I bought this beer when i was in Germany some six months ago. Poured in my Struise glass the beer looks very nice. A very dark fluid with a lightbrown head which is very bubbly. I can see almost no carbonation.
Good smell of burned malts and coffee. Not heavy just OK.
Taste is a bit too light, i think there is too little alcohol in this beer which makes it very soft.

A: Pour is dark, reddish deep brown. The head medium large, a bit creamy beige. Slow dissipation leaves nice lacings.
S: Dry rich roasted malt. Dark dried frutis. Lots of coffee. Some coffee and bitter hops.
T: Heavy roasted dry malt. Dark bitter chocolate. Strong coffee. Cherries.
M: Long aftertaste, bitter and dusty dry. Body is full and carbonation is light.
D: A nice Schwarzbier, that's not German. Dry!

Breznak, Czeck brewed beer. 0.5 l bottle.
I wasn't too impressed with their standard pilsner, but this blackbeer was a positive experience.
Very dark brown beer, good head.
First smell is malt, hops, yeast. Also roasty character, when tasting, as well as some dark fruit + caramel.
Light body, with a lot of carbonation in the mouth. It's a decently flavourfull beer overall. As a 3.8% abv it's a good choice with a lunch or dinner.
Not a bad beer this.

Thanks to Jacob for bringing this back from Germany! Pours a very dark mahogany color with a fine-bubbled beige head. Good lacing and average retention.
Has a nice nutty and chocolaty aroma, leaning a bit in the nutty direction. Kinda like chocolate covered walnuts. Smell is fairly mild, but it is really fresh.
Upon first taste it's a sweet blast of roasty malts and walnuts, followed by a toasty and mildly hoppy bitter palate scrubbing. This one has loads of flavor for a schwarzbier and a rather full, creamy body for a lager. Just a slight kiss of strawberry fruitiness adds to the complexity.

Dark brown, much like a porter; 1/4" head
Smell
Light, toasty aroma
Taste & Mouthfeel
Yum! Nice flavor of toasted malts, finishes with caramelized sugar; a little thin on the front end, but has an overall medium body
Overall
I liked this beer a lot and would buy it regularly if possible. With such a low ABV, drinkability is high.

half liter bottle poured into a chalice. pours a deep chocolate brown with amber highlights. a single finger of light brown head top it off.
aroma is of roasted malts, with coffee and chocolate notes, as well as a cream base. well proportioned.
taste is of roasted coffee mainly, with chocolate present as well, with a touch of vanilla and a creamy finish. excellent.
mouthfeel is medium bodied with a creamy and smooth texture. a bit of CO2 is present as well. a smooth finish of residual roasted malts and coffee makes this a supurb brew.
drinkability is good. this is a rich brew. though it only has a medium body, its rich flavors offset its lighter body.

A dark brown, almost black beer with a thin and creamy head that leaves lacing on the glass.
Smell is light burned with notes of chocolate and figs. There is an earthy smell that combines great with the roastiness of the dark malts.
Taste is light roasted and has chocolate and light coffee notes and to a lesser extent molasses and figs. The beer is clearly bottom fermented and this gives a clean profile with just a hint of fruitiness. The earthiness probably comes from the hops and malts. Drinkability is great and despite the 3,8% full of taste.

Good until 12/12/07 3.8% ABV
Picked up at the Kaufland Getränksmarkt in Halle (Saale), Germany
Dark brown color that pours a light tan head of medium bubbles, dissipates (practically fizzes) fairly fast to a ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma is not very pleasant, like a stale light lager. However, whatever the offensive odor, I could not detect anything particularly off in the flavor. Little roasted malt taste as far as Schwarzbier goes, almost a brown ale in my opinion. Light to medium body with too much soda-y carbonation. Not a lot of hop character, but enough to balance out a mild, but not too sweet, malty backbone containing notes of something like a crusty german bread. Pretty light all around, so easy to drink, but Id recommend moving on to something more interesting.
