I love this old beer! From Medieval time in Vikings land...
I remember in the the 50th when I was a child my Father always had "Svagdricka" in the celler in a cool place when working in the fields...
I am so happy for Spendrups still making this beer. In North Sweden it is quite popular for dinner when eating old common meals with meat.
Thank you!

“Svagdricka” is the Swedish traditional low-alcohol table beer, sweetened with Saccharin and coloured with caramel.
This one is also brewed with invert sugar and glucose syrup. OG 6°.
The colour is almost black (90 EBC), the liquid clear. The three finger head pale brown. It leaves some lacing on the glass.
The smell is sweet with roasted notes of chocolate, brown sugar and caramel malt. It is somewhat worty.
The taste is very sweet, but not in a sharp way. Wort, caramel, toffee, roasted malts: It is quite smooth. No noticeable bitterness. Some worty notes in the background. Medium body. Hints of yeast and stable in the aftertaste, and more of the caramel and sugars. The finish is sweet with notes of malt toffee caramel.
The carbonation is medium to mild, the small bubbles are long-lived. The liquid is light and sticky.
Better than expected, not as sharply sweet as other big breweries’ Svagdricka. It’s OK.

A: Pitch black liquid with a fizzy, light tan head which disappears quickly. Looks like swedish julmust with just a little more head.
S: Smells almost like a weak, dark czech lager. Saaz or perhaps Hallertauer hops come to mind. Molasses, bread syrup, brown sugar, Special B malt and walnuts. Cinnamon, clove and cardamom.
T: Very very VERY sweet. Again, like a weak dark czech lager, but with TONS of sugar in it. Hardly any bitterness, syrup, dark honey, brown sugar and molasses. Whoa almost to sweet to drink. There must be loads of artificial sweetener in this, this is mad
M/D: Watery and extremely sweet. The sweetness makes it hard to drink.
Had to pour half of it out. I don't recommend this and I'm very dissapointed.
