Popular White Plains watering hole. Selection is always good. About 35 taps and TONS of assorted and varied bottles.(Bottles are stored in basement, which is reached by a hole in the floor behind the bar) Friendly and knowledgeable bartenders. Decent Pub grub. This place is a medium sized rectangular shaped room with a pool table in the rear. A lot of TVs, give this place a sports bar feel whenever there is action in sports going on. In the thin beer world of Westchester county, this place stands out. Its a real beer place worthy of BA beer appreciation and consumption. Worth a visit to see whats fresh on tap.

This is my go-to place in White Plains for good beer, and I would safely say this is one of those places that served good beer before it was as "popular" as it is now..I think they opened in 1994 or 1997. Really great selection of craft brews on tap that are always changing...there must be at least 20 on tap at any given time. Great bottle selection, including rare vintages.
Food is decent pub-style food, but I think they were voted best wings in Westchester at some point since their doors opened...

My only real complaint is I wish they kept their beer menu up-to date. They only update it seemingly every 45 days or so! They never have the same selection in-house as they do on-line.
So Lazy Boy staff..dont be so Lazy and update your beermenus.com page more often!!

I try to go to the lazyboy when ever I get the chance. They are always having brewery nights from founders takeover to lagunitas night. I love being able to get vintage 2009 bigfoot. The icing on the cake is the food is exceptional. If it wasnt for the crappy parking that is white plains id be there every weekend. Plenty of taps and their very own beer menu that you can skim through divided by country and style. Some might find it a bit pricey, but its the norm for NY bar prices

I was in town on business last weekend, decided to grab some lunch so I checked out BA for places in the area and found The Lazy Boy Saloon. I gave it a shot and it did not disappoint. They had a good selection of draft and bottled beers and even a few vintages (where I picked up my Rare BCS).

I sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender about good beer, he was informative and very nice, hooking me up with some 2008 vintage Samichlause that was on the house and exceptional.

I will be returning in a couple of weeks and I will definitely be returning for some beer and food as soon as I get into town. And maybe even pick up another bottle of Rare BCS if they still have any available.

Stopped in here for the first time yesterday with soccerman7, baconsausage, and grassblue after hitting up Captain Lawrence. There is a nice old wood bar along the right wall of the joint with several TV's tuned to sports games. The left side of the joint is mainly table seating with some TV's as well. Since we had a group of 7 we sat at a long table on the left side towards the back by the kitchen. This probably factored into my atmosphere score a bit as I might have liked sitting at the bar a bit better.

Quality of the beer was pretty good and selection was vast considering they had about 36 tap lines and a huge bottle selection. No super hard to find gems or anything, but lots of solid American Craft and import choices non the less.

Service was pretty bad....there was a small language barrier (very small) btw the table and the wait staff, the wait staff knew nothing about the beers really, and the waiter managed to drop some plates on the ground and shoot marinara sauce up the entire back of my jacket (which was on my chair) as well as on me. He never acknowledged that this happened or apologized either. He just kept moving in hopes that I wouldn't notice until I got out of the restaurant but when sauce droplets start spritzing up your back and even land on your head (bald spot) its hard to not notice. Lucky for them I am cool as a cucumber and would rather make a positive impression on the people I share the table with than curse out the wait staff. Then about 10 minutes later the waiter came back to clear more plates off the table and dropped a bunch of balled up napkins that were on one plate onto my lap.

Food was fairly average pub food but the wings were notably good and available in a few styles that kept them interesting like buffalo, garlic, tequila, etc.

I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here again but wouldn't be opposed to it if I was in the area. I understand that it is unlikely that the staff drops food dishes and spills sauce on every patron so my review score will be an outlier..

This place was not on my radar until hearing about it at the CdC '10 release from Gingermanstv. I couldn't make it down the night before the release becuase it was a friday night and the only parking was miles away. So I made my way back down on a sunday afternoon after visiting DeCiccos, we got a parking place around a 1/4 mile away which wasn't too bad.

Upon entering the place there were no lights on just the outside lighting which was not really enough to read the menus where we had to sit considering it was relatively busy.

Service was meh at best, they were moderately attentive, but there was a language barrier between us and the server/busser that dealt with us. The bartender was also a bit busy texting sometimes and it took longer than normal to get the beers sometimes. Overall this is understandable, sunday afternoon is generally when restaurants have their B team on anyway so its understandable.

I ordered a sampler of ST Creme Brulee, Old Rasputin, CCB Jai Alai, Ballast Point Calico, and Green Flash LeFreak. Another in my party ordered a Captain Lawrence Imperial Smoked porter, and received a Kaptain's Kolsch instead, this was quickly remedied and the douchey texting bartender quickly blamed the waitress for his mistake when it was clear that she got it (pointed to it to make sure she got it right). I ordered a Kaptains Kolsch to follow my sampler, I got Captain Lawrence Golden Delicious instead which I didn't bother complaining about, I guess I should have ordered a smoked porter instead, I would have gotten the Kolsch anyway, haha. Got a Creme Brulee afterwards and that sufficed for the beer. They also had a monster bottle list

Ordered wings and calamari for apps, Calamari was a bit overdone and tasted fishy but couldve beern worse, wings were very good. I ordered the lobster grilled cheese, great concept but couldve seen better execution, better bread different cheese more meat etc but good overall, just not "wow". Other person ordered a burger that was almost right, they forgot the cheese but offered to replace it, no biggie.

Not excessively priced, but not cheap.

My wife and I stopped in here for lunch today after going to a beer release at Captain Lawrence. Having read a number of good reviews on here, my hopes were high, and for the most part they were not disappointed.

It's a moderate sized place with pleasantly a tap-strewn bar on one side and fairly limited amount of seating on the other. Dark wood and brewery signs dominate the decor. Overall, it was a fairly inviting place, although the extremely high ceilings made it seem less cozy than it might have been.

The beer menu was a sight to behold, with 40 taps (about 36 of which were high quality) and two casks (Fuller's London Pride and Ola Dubh 40), as well as page after page of bottles arranged by country. The ticker in me wants to go back to try brews from Kenya, Brazil, Argentina, and Nicaragua. I opted to get the Ola Dubh 40 on cask, and was hugely impressed.

The food was quite good (especially the buffalo chicken fingers and the sweet potato fries), but my burger, while tasty, was a solid medium-well despite having been ordered medium-rare. Not great. The service was also distinctly sub-par, as no one ever came by to ask how the food was, and my wife (who was having the spicy buffalo fries and no beer) ran out of water and was never offered a refill. Also, when the bill came I was surprised to see that the beer had rung $4 higher than the menu price, and that my substitution of sweet potato for regular fries had cost $2 (neither the menu nor the waitress warned of this, so beware). The mixup in the beer price was taken care of without issue, though.

The food prices were what I'd expect for a main-street bar near New York, but the beer was about a buck cheaper across the board (although the bottle menu had some distinctly odd pricing), and I was simply blown away to get a snifter of cask-conditioned Ola Dubh 40 for $8. That alone made this an awesome stop. This place is definitely worth checking out if you're in the White Plains area, but don't expect too much from the waitstaff if you're sitting down.

Although from the outside the place looks like a hole in the wall, when you enter it is a well designed place, with plenty of room to hang out and enjoy this place with friends over a nice pint, there selections of beer is always good from you average Budweiser to the very delicious Smithwicks. the servers are always there to help, although they should be a little bit more knowledgable about the beer that there serving other then that this is a place that you should visit at least once if your down in the White plains area and it is a good time everytime

Went here on a sunday to watch the late NFL games.

I didnt know about this place. My friends and I were looking for a bar on the strip to hit up. As we are walking, I read the menu outside this place - it said Fullers London Pride ON CASK! I was like, were going here.

Once inside i realized that this place is a big time beer bar. The selection is close to the greatest ive seen in NYC area. They probably had at least 20 beers on tap - all quality. Some stuff ive never had or seen. Bottle selection is unbelievable. They had 2 casks running - the fullers and i think a captain L. The fullers london pride was so fresh. it was absolutely delicious. One gripe is that they served it in a duval tulip glass. it almost ruined the beer. I just cant drink a cellar temp ESB out of one of these glasses. So I asked for a traditional pint and poured it in there. They put it in the tulip because they only serve the cask as 10-12 ounces. wierd. they should just get some 12 oz pint glasses. Other thing to watch out for is that the bathroom is the worst in westchester county - If you're a woman, I would not hit the john here.

Service is OK. the girls are nice but i dont think particularly learned in beer knowledge.

Some other notes:
The wings are awesome. also cheap during the nfl games on sunday - 25 cents.
I had a 750 ml dogfish FORT for 16 bucks - very reasonable.
Quality could be an issue for some of their taps. I had to send one back. I believe it was a regional lager that nobody else seemed interested in.

A great beer bar in NY. Worth a trip from the city. I love this place and I am definitely making plans to go again.

visited the Lazy Boy on 1.20.09 with co-workers. We were staying in White Plains and I drug them all there due to my love of beer, thankfully they didn't mind going along.

Place: smaller place, older, wooden. Had a great feel and vibe when you walked in the door. We sat at a table on the floor and not at the bar. There were a couple TV's in the place and tons of beer signs and neon signs all over the walls.

Beer: tons of beer. approximately 32 on draft and 4 more that were cask conditioned. They also had approximately 300 bottles on their menu as well. The also had a nice shelf above the bar which showed what new bottles they got in recently. There beer selection was fantastic. Beers of all styles and beers from all over the world. You would be hard pressed not to find something you haven't had.

The service was great, had a dude who knew everything about beer and was good at making recommendations. The food was good as well, we all got sandwiches and apps, but they were all very good.

If you are ever in the area, you MUST stop by this place. It will be well worth the while.
