Notes:
The addition of natural maple brings this premium Stout a softer, smoother mouth feel and adds a touch of sweetness to balance the dark rich malts. It is a truly Canadian version of an old British classic.

A - poured a solid black with a creamy tan head that retained very well
S - rich roasty & nutty barley with the maple very present. I'm immediately thinking of syrup.
T - the rich maple sweetness is very apparent up front, followed by the classic stout roasted barley and coffee bitterness, with all flavours seeming to last very balanced on the finish. I'm really digging this.
M - smooth an chewy feel, a slight bitter sensation as well, and a litter lighter than I expected from a stout
D - the maple sweetness makes it very pleasant on the palate, left me craving the next taste like a desert does. Fairly easy drinking.

Cannery Brewing's 'Maple Stout' @ 5.5% , an English Stout served from a 650 ml bottle purchased for $5
A-pour is almost black from the bottle to the glass with a small tan/off white head leaving a fine lace film along the pint glass after every sip
S-Maple Syrup , hints of coffee
Every time I bring the glass up to take a sip I'm hit with so much Maple almost Voodoo like
T-sweet maple start , somewhat bittersweet smokey finish
MF-medium carbonation , light/medium bodied
Ov-taste like it should be poured over pancakes , one and done for me , too sweet

Received a bottle of this from kjyost in a recent trade. Cheers!
From a bomber into a snifter
IBU: 42
APPEARANCE: Pours out dark brown and yields a small, light tan head with decent retention. Head fades to a faint wisp and ring. Black body and no carbonation evident. A ring remains, leaving some light dots of lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Lots of maple syrup for sure. Very up front and forthcoming here. Vanilla, milk chocolate and a touch of roasted malts, but this is more about the maple syrup here. Pretty decent really.
TASTE: Falls well short of the nose. Well short. Much milder and the maple tastes artificial for some reason. Caramel and some milk chocolate accompany the maple syrup up front, moving into a mild and dry finish with some maple, vanilla notes and light roasted flavors. Very disappointing after having smelt this thing. Relatively mild and artificial tasting.
PALATE: Medium body and slightly higher levels of carbonation. Not all that creamy on the palate, a touch watery, goes down alright and finishes slightly cloying. Not too bad, but a little too sticky here.
OVERALL: This is alright I guess. I understand what they were going for, and the nose on this one certainly worked, but the taste and palate didn't deliver. Artificial tasting, too mild and somewhat watery, this one ended up being a disappointment. Keep the nose and try to re-work the rest, as there is some real potential here. Thanks again kjyost!

Cannery Brewing Company Maple Stout was brought to us by my wife's folks on their visit from British Columbia. The beer pours a deep, dark brown with some ruby highlights, and is capped by a thin tan head that leaves little in the way of retention and lacing. A strong syrupy nose is reminiscent of pancakes and sugar, very little else noticeable. Maple flavors dominate the pallet, at times sweet and mellow, and quite light for a stout. Medium-light in body, Maple Stout is also lower in carbonation. Who doesn't like pancakes and syrup?
Cheers!

A - dark molasses colour. Minimal head.
S - Immediate maple smell. Caramel, Mild malt, rich smell.
T - Maple! Notes of Coffee. Not a heavy taste for a stout. Starts off mellow but Finishes strong leaving a noticeable, but pleasant, aftertaste.
M - light for a stout. Not a lot of carbonation. Smooth feel. Gets sharper on aftertaste.
O - one of my favourite stouts. Great beer. Not an overpowering stout, but great flavours.

A: 1/8" tan coloured head that collected around the edges of the glass over cola coloured liquid.
S: Maple syrup and toffee malt dominate the smell profile.
T: Maple syrup, toffee malt, and toasted malt dominate the taste profile. Quite sweet.
M: Medium viscosity and a medium level of carbonation.
O: Quite drinkable, but on the sweeter side. I honestly think that others have rated it lower than what it deserves simply because the brewery is not well known. After tasting CBS a few days ago, I would say this is a decent maple stout.

650ml bottle poured into tulip 6/1/12
A very dark cola with a two finger dark tan head that retains pretty well leaving a few patches of lace
S smokey maple with some chocolate covered raisin and toffee, the nose is very maple but I can't decide if its natural or fake maple smell, either way
it smell great
T some faint dark dried fruit to go along with what I smell, the maples a little toned down and there's a faint nutty aspect
M thinner then expected but it has enough bubbles to liven things up, leaves a burnt maple flavor for an aftertaste
O I'm sold on this one, smells great and pretty solid in other areas. there's room for improvement but a good beer nonetheless
I'd drink it again so that says something, I like finding unexpected gems from obscure breweries and this one fits the bill

Thanks to Ricoch3t for picking this one up for me.
A - Aggressive pour only produces about a finger of head which is on the darker side. Body is very dark with a hint of red when you get a chance to see through it.
S - Yes there is strong maple here. More of an artificial, sweet type maple you would find in a donut. Also some dark fruit, prune. I can't get over this maple smell, just dominates and is fun to take in.
T - There is a hop flavor in here that covers up a bit of the maple which is good because the maple would have been too much based on the aroma. Sweet maple is there and quite nice.
M - this is the downfall of this beer. Carbonation is good, but body doesn't stand up. I want more and it's not there.
O - If you like maple like I do, then your best bet is to just smell this beer all night long. The mouthfeel just ruins it. Still a good beer that is very drinkable, but could be so much more.

Pours black with red highlights in the right light. Thin head settles to an eggshell film fairly quickly.
Big nose with serious sweet beer aromas. Obvious maple off the top. Sweet chocolate serves as the malt backbone.
Aforementioned smells come through big on the tongue. Raw maple straight away melds well with nice milk chocolate. Comes to a close with welcome toasty bitterness, good coffee flavor.
It's tough to put out a good maple beer, given all the subpar offerings out there, but this manages to get all the flavours right.

Just about no head on this, the color is... BLACK can see no light at all on the other side of the glass. Smells very sweet, malt and maple tones. Taste just about the same. Sweet with a light taste of maple. Goes down well with a crisp after taste. Very good beer, very recommended.

Thanks to kjyost for this bottle. Finally got to drinking it.
Poured in to Founder's tulip.
A - Poured black with one finger of light brown head that quickly disappeared.
S - Sweet maple syrup up front, some light roasted malt and chocolate notes in the background but the maple definitely dominates.
T - Sweet maple syrup, roasted malts and brown sugar. Although the maple dominates, the beer is not cloyingly sweet like many maple syrup based beers tend to be.
M - Light to medium body, light carbonation.
O - I really enjoyed this one. The best maple syrup beer of the few I have had.
